“TO VICTORY” FOR VOCAL SEXTET AND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA BY OLENA ILNYTSKA: MYTHOPOETICS OF THE WORK
Get PDFThe works of the Ukrainian composer Olena Ilnytska (born in 1977) are well known not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. Her works are performed by both domestic and foreign musicians. The piece “To Victory” for vocal sextet and symphony orchestra is an example of contemporary Ukrainian symphonism, combining Western European and national traditions with techniques of contemporary musical language. In it, as in other genres, the author\u27s mythopoetic thinking is evident. She reflects on a complex, historically established genre that has a philosophical basis in the history of world musical culture. “To Victory” is indicative both for understanding of mythopoetics of symphony music and the author’s symphonic thinking, which revealed itself in the skill of large-scale thinking, combining different musical-semantical intonation models, uniting them in an integrate structure. Mythologization takes place on genre, thematic, and timbre levels

Mythopoetics of Piano Nocturnes by Olena Ilnytska
Get PDFA myth is one of the forms of worldview, a system of thinking, and a methodological basis for the interpretation of cultural phenomena. The mythological component is one of the elements of modern music culture. The article focuses on Olena Ilnytska’s piano nocturnes in the context of mythopoetic comprehension of musical texts. The article aims to analyze the characteristic features of Ilnytska’s piano nocturnes and identify the specifics of mythopoetic thinking of the composer. Piano nocturnes by Ilnytska are resented for the first time in the contemporary musicological discourse. The interdisciplinary approach embracing music, semiotics, and linguistics is used in the process of the study to analyze musical pieces comprehensively. The analysis of the piano Nocturnes by Ilnytska’s shows that the Nocturnes contain mythological thinking through the correspondence between cultural and sonority concept of different epochs (romanticism – metamodern). Thus, myth-making occurs when operating the set of binary oppositions, widening the technical capacities of the grand piano. The technical formulas combine traditional and unconventional ways of sound production. This research shows that the mythopoetic conception has entered into the contemporary cultural paradigm

Olena Pchilka's Creativity: Shevchenko's discourse
No full textThe peculiarities of genre and ideological thematic embodiment of Shevchenko’s discourse in creativity of Olena Pchilka were analyzed in the article. In particular, poetic shevchenkiana, the Ukrainian Сhildren’s theater and editorial articles were researched. It was highlighted the role of Narodniki’s tradition, the specificity of intertextuality in fiction, the celebratory dimension of the eventfulness in dramatic works, the relevance of editorial articles.
If the poetic shevchenkiana and the Children’s theater of Olena Pchilka demonstrated a popularizing dimension of the author’s perception, then the articles with the whole arsenal of journalistic style emphasized the problems of essence of imperial policy, Russian criticism and national consciousness of Ukrainian society, delimitation of the Ukrainian community. Shevchenko’s discourse of creativity of Olena Pchilka proves that the forming of nation was dominated by T. Shevchenko, overcoming the way from ethnography, popularization to awareness of the need of education and development of literature for people as a target audience, and subsequently – to national journalism

OLENA APANOVYCH AS A PRESERVER OF NATIONAL UKRAINIAN HISTORY HERITAGE
No full textOlena Mykhailivna Apanovych belonged to socially active Ukrainian historians. Being among that small group of non-conformists to the Soviet regime, she became famous both due to the cossacks history research, popularization of their history, and cultural heritage preservation. In independent Ukraine she concentrated on preservation work and made a significant impact on recovery of national idea. The aim of this research is to unveil Olena Apanovych work for Ukrainian history preservation.Based on problem-chronological method of analysis of Olena Apanovych’s diaries, archive materials of Ukrainian community on memory preservation, personal archive documents, her involvement into social activities of the Soviet and post-Soviet time had been revealed. Prosopographical method allowed us to show the peculiarities of Olena Opanovych relationship with the scientific community.The article described that preservation process started in 1950s when Olena Apanovych, as a member of scientific expedition, researched on remains of Zaporizka Sich. At that time she analyzed the extent of cultural self-awareness as well as the research engaged more interest to the Ukrainian history. Later, in 1950s–1970s Olena Apanovych became one of the major expert of cossacks history preservation in Ukraine, among others, she established the memorial on island Khortytsia. Besides publishing activity on the topic, she led two scientific expeditions “Zaporizka Sich: destroyed and survived”
