Children’s folk music in second age in kindergarten
Get PDFIn the thesis I researched the representation of children’s folk music in kindergarten. In the theoretical part I discussed the traditional folk music and put emphasis on children’s folk music, dances, counting rhymes, games and musical instruments. Besides that I also researched how often folk music appears in the curriculum for kindergartens, the technical literature and the didactic materials for preschool education.
The empirical part contains quantitative and qualitative research. In the quantitative part of the research I analysed the results of the interview with preschool teachers about including children’s folk tradition in kindergarten, which I gained with a survey questionnaire. In the qualitative part of the research, I was finding out how interested children are in activities that have to do with folk tradition through analysing diary notes, photographs, audio notes and children’s statements. In the framework of the research I carried out more activities, through which children learned about children’s folk music, dances, counting rhymes, games and musical instruments. I found out that children have an interest in learning folk tradition, that they receive it with joy and they quickly assimilate it. Preschool teachers also have an interest in including children’s folk music in the kindergarten, but they have several problems with it. Among those are the most distinct ones, that they have too little prior knowledge, that in the curriculum for kindergartens is not enough emphasis on this area, that there are not enough seminars on this subject and that there is too little material with children’s folk music available. As a consequence, the folk music tradition is rarely included in the kindergarten’s planned activities, or it is only inferior quality. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Kindergarten educational activities
Get PDFIn master’s thesis, I researched the educational activities of preschool institution. I defined the educational concept and its elements, described the education and educational activities in preschool institutions while relying on the hidden curriculum, rules, discipline and the culture of preschool institution. I paid special attention to various factors that affect and form education in preschool institutions and also unconsciously maintain and internalize existing patterns of education, behaviour and activity. I emphasized the role of preschool teachers, which is the basis of successful educational activities, and the role of children, who, with active participation, not only accept the rules and the values but also co-create and internalize them.
The empirical part contains quantitative research, which is used to find out how preschool teachers and preschool teacher assistants understand the education and educational activities in preschool institutions and what influences them, which problems they encounter in educational activities, whether there are gender differences in disciplining and how much are children involved in educational activities. With a survey questionnaire I obtained answers to the research questions and analysed them with statistical programs. I found out that there are no big differences in the understanding of educational activities between preschool teachers and preschool teacher assistants, but there are differences in the understanding of education in preschool institutions. The results showed that the most enforced rules there are related to politeness and kindness and that in most preschool institutions children can participate in their formulation. In educational activities preschool teachers and preschool teacher assistants face problems because educational activities are not unified and agreed at the institutional level. Because of parental pressure and legislation they cannot be independent and autonomous at their workplace. At the same time they have problems with education because more and more spoiled children are involved in preschool institutions. According to preschool teachers and preschool teacher assistants discipline is set by setting limits, with good interpersonal relationships and active involvement of children being in the foreground. Regarding the differences in disciplining boys and girls the research results showed that discipline in preschool institutions does not depend on gender and that preschool teachers and preschool teacher assistants mostly avoid making gender-related differences between children
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
