The paper deals with the lexicalization of the movement components in Russian and Italian. According to Leonard Talmy’s original typological classification, these two languages express the semantics of movement components in two different ways. Our research has mainly focused on the relationship between the Russian prefix vy- and its Italian correlates. Using a contrastive approach, we have tested our hypothesis that in contemporary Italian there is an increasing tendency to use hybrid constructions when the lexicalization of the movement situation is used. The paper presents the intermediate results of a comparative analysis of texts in three different languages: English, Russian and Italian. The source text for our corpus-based analysis is J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel The Hobbit, or There and Back Again (1937), together with its Russian (1976) and Italian (1989) translations. We have compiled a corpus that includes texts in three different languages to avoid linguistic interference while translating prefixed verbs from Russian into Italian. The intermediate results of our study confirm our hypothesis that in contemporary Italian there is a tendency to lexicalize the semantic component ʻpathʼ in adverbial particles, which approximately function as the Russian prefix vy-. A further stage of our research can lead to a new approach to teaching and learning Russian and Italian as foreign languages

Binase Immobilized on halloysite nanotubes exerts enhanced cytotoxicity toward human colon adenocarcinoma cells

© 2017 Khodzhaeva, Makeeva, Ulyanova. Many ribonucleases (RNases) are considered as promising tools for antitumor therapy because of their selective cytotoxicity toward cancer cells. Binase, the RNase from Bacillus pumilus, triggers apoptotic response in cancer cells expressing RAS oncogene which is mutated in a large percentage of prevalent and deadly malignancies including colorectal cancer. The specific antitumor effect of binase toward RAS-transformed cells is due to its direct binding of RAS protein and inhibition of downstream signaling. However, the delivery of proteins to the intestine is complicated by their degradation in the digestive tract and subsequent loss of therapeutic activity. Therefore, the search of new systems for effective delivery of therapeutic proteins is an actual task. This study is aimed to the investigation of antitumor effect of binase immobilized on natural halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). Here, we have developed the method of binase immobilization on HNTs and optimized the conditions for the enzyme loading and release (i); we have found the non-toxic concentration of pure HNTs which allows to distinguish HNTs- and binase-induced cytotoxic effects (ii); using dark-field and fluorescent microscopy we have proved the absorption of binase-loaded HNTs on the cell surface (iii) and demonstrated that binase-halloysite nanoformulations possessed twice enhanced cytotoxicity toward tumor colon cells as compared to the cytotoxicity of binase itself (iv). The enhanced antitumor activity of biocompatible binase-HNTs complex confirms the advisability of its future development for clinical practice

Actual issues of work with the library staff at the present stage of librarianship development

    No full text
The problem of working with library personnel is among the most discussed issues in the professional community over several decades. The analysis of publications and reports of public libraries has showed that the list of main topical problems has not changed for years; changes have mainly touched the issue content: the state of vocational education (infrastructure state and development, training quality, students outflow to other professions, interaction of universities and libraries as employers; professional development; the professional culture loss and degradation; the personnel management state; the profession image; the professional community rigidity; information lack on issues of working with personnel. As the most of these problems remain unsolved for several decades, it is possible to characterize the state of studying and taking measures to eliminate them as poorly satisfactory

Adaptation and job satisfaction: empirical research, generalizations and results

    No full text
Studying adaptation and job satisfaction is one of the most important problems in modern management. Domestic sociologists and psychologists have been actively engaged in research of this topic since 1960s, foreign researchers - since the early XX century. Job satisfaction is often regarded as adaptation results measured with objective and subjective indicators. The most recognized factors influencing it are the following: gender, age, experience, work character and content, profession prestige in society, personal value-meaning orientations of employees. This theme is poorly developed in library science, there is practically no deep theoretical research. In 2014 SPSTL SB RAS carried on a study of adaptation and job satisfaction in three large libraries of the Siberian Federal District. General (common for all libraries) and particular results were obtained

Features of the COVID-19 clinical course in doctors in the family cluster of infection. Description of a clinical case

    No full text
This case has several features. First of all, it covers the clinical course of Covid-19 disease in a family cluster, everyone of this family has a different medical specialization. This makes it possible to observe the case constantly. Diaries were kept by all family members. Secondly, there are two age groups in the cluster: 24-30 years old (let’s call them “Children”) and 50-60 years old (let’s call them “Parents”). This allowed us to compare the course of the disease depending on the age and the presence of chronic diseases. On one hand the presence of a dentist in the cluster made this observation unique. We were able to compare change in general condition with the change in dental status. Also important opportunity for the polymerase chain reaction to be conducted weekly at the “Children’s” work place. In retrospect we can say that the precursors of the disease appeared earlier than the positive result of laboratory diagnostics. The first confirmed contacts with infected patients occurred in the “Children” group. Due to this fact it was possible to assume about the way of transmission of the SARS-Cov-2 virus to “Parents”. It should be noted that the disease wasn’t one-stage for all family members, despite everyone daily contact. With 2 days in between, “Children” got sick. After 7 and 11 days, “Parents” fell ill. This fact raised a question of a “reference point”. Which symptoms really show the beginning of the disease? The disease severity was different: one “parent” - mild, second “parent” - moderate, one “child” - moderate, second “child” - severe. All of the family members recovered. The diagnoses were confirmed by laboratory tests, and pneumonia was diagnosed based on multislice computed tomography. Diagnostics, treatment and quarantine measures met the standards of the “Temporary clinical recommendations” 6 revision of 24.05.2020 of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation, methodological recommendations MR 3.1.0170-20 with amendments No 1 “Epidemiology and prevention of COVID-19"

The matrix of tasks, resources and competences for research libraries

    No full text
The lag of Russia in the development of the fifth technological order has had a dramatic impact on research and technological libraries. Until the early 1990s, they were rightfully considered unique access points to relevant scientific knowledge, and now they are experiencing an acute crisis, looking for their place in the radically changed landscape of scholarly communicationsThe article identifies the main challenges that led to the crisis. The aim of the study is to find answers to these challenges, namely: new tasks that libraries can take on and that will be in demand by the scientific community. However, their solution is possible only after mastering new competencies and providing necessary resources. To systematize this picture, a matrix of tasks, resources and competencies is constructed
