江木千之と文政審議会(1)-義務教育年限延長案の結末-
Egi Senshi who was inaugurated as the Education Minister in January in 1924, newly organized the Council on Educational Affairs and proposed the draft of law for the two years expansion of the length of the term of the compulsory education. However, the Education Minister Okada Ryohei of the Cabinet under Premier Kato Takaaki who took power in June of the same year withdrew the draft. In this paper, the author makes much of a fact that Egi Senshi and Okada Ryohei were the same mind and makes clear the aims of the two persons which lurked in a conclusion.departmental bulletin pape

At the end of October in 1911, Ikki Kita, by order of Ryohei Uchida (内田良平), went over to Shanghai to give support to the revolutionary army. His activities in China were informed to Uchida in detail by thirteen letters and fifty-nine telegrams. These reports are now preserved by Mr. Osamu Uchida (内田治), son-in-law of Ryohei. In this article, the author studied the thought of Ikki Kita on the Chinese Revolution through these materials, especially through his letters. His political thought seems to have showed us the proper and reasonable attitude of Japan, which may be adaptable for us in the present also, in the relations with China. Finding two errors in the formerly accepted opinions on Kita's going to Shanghai, the author tried to correct these errors. The author's study on the telegrams, which could not be dealt with in this article, will be published in the other one

Trophic level decoupling drives future changes in phytoplankton bloom phenology
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Limited.Climate change can drive shifts in the seasonality of marine productivity, with consequences for the marine food web. However, these alterations in phytoplankton bloom phenology (initiation and peak timing), and the underlying drivers, are not well understood. Here, using a 30-member Large Ensemble of climate change projections, we show earlier bloom initiation in most ocean regions, yet changes in bloom peak timing vary widely by region. Shifts in both initiation and peak timing are induced by a subtle decoupling between altered phytoplankton growth and zooplankton predation, with increased zooplankton predation (top-down control) playing an important role in altered bloom peak timing over much of the global ocean. Only in limited regions is light limitation a primary control for bloom initiation changes. In the extratropics, climate-change-induced phenological shifts will exceed background natural variability by the end of the twenty-first century, which may impact energy flow in the marine food webs.11Nsciessciscopu

In this paper, the author aims at making clear the details of the preparation of the Imperial Ordinance Relating to the Establishment of Young Men’s Training Institutes which was promulgated in 1926, using new materials. Accordingly, the author attaches importance to the history of young men’s society and the deliberation in the Council on Educational Affairs. From the results, the author could make clear the second step of the Youth’s Military Training for the establishment of the national mobilization system which was performed by Tanaka Giichi, Egi Senshi, Ugaki Kazunari, Okada Ryohei and others.departmental bulletin pape
Nuchequula nuchalis
Nuchequula nuchalis (Temminck & Schlegel, 1845): Figure 3E, F Equula nuchalis Temminck and Schlegel 1845: 126. Leiognathus nuchalis — Eguchi et al. 2008: 19. Nuchequula nuchalis — Chakrabarty and Sparks 2007: 18; Kimura et al. 2008b: 22; Senou 2013: 902; Fujiwara and Motomura 2016: 197. Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the following combination of characters: mouth protruding downwards; small slender teeth on both jaws; anterior dorsolateral surface of body completely naked; black blotch on nape (Senou 2013). Distribution. Nuchequula nuchalis is known from Japan, the western and southern coasts of Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and the coast of China. In Japanese waters, this species is known from the western coast of Aomori Prefecture to the southern part of the western coast of Kyushu (Sea of Japan coast), the eastern coast of Aomori Prefecture to the southern part of eastern coast of Kyushu, Seto Inland Sea, and Okinawa Island (Pacific coast) (Senou 2013). Remarks. The record of Nuchequula nuchalis in this study is based on 8 specimens (40.8–116.4 mm SL) from Kadogawa Bay in November and December. However, this species is caught frequently with shallow set nets (<10 m depth) for commercial purposes in the bay (author. Wada, pers. comm.). In addition, our survey did not record this species with the other deeper set nets, although we collected it from estuaries in Miyazaki Prefecture out of the survey period (KPM-NI 41550–41553, Kita-gawa river, northern part of Miyazaki Prefecture; KPM-NI 41888–41891, Hitotsuse-gawa river and Tondahama Lagoon, central Miyazaki Prefecture). The purpose is to make clear the actual facts of the discussion on the Establishment of the System of assigned Military Officer to Schools. Therefore, the author pays attention to the deliberation on the repeal of the Law Relating to the State Defrayal of Salaries to Elementary School Teachers under the One-year Military Service which was submitted by the Cabinet under Premier Kato Takaaki From the result, the author could make clear the tactics of the Education Minister Okada Ryohei and the War Minister Ugaki Kazunari, and an outline of a member of the House of Peers Sawayanagi Masataro's opinion.departmental bulletin pape

Tanaka Giichi who had founded the Imperial Military Reservist's Association after the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-05, intended nationwide organization of young men's associations and young women's associations in order to practice a military training for all youths. That has become in earnest by the Instruction by both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1915 on the Principles Relating to the Lead and the Department of Young Men's Association. In this paper, the author studyed on the process of the establishment of the DAINIPPON RENGO‾ SEINENDAN and the DAINIPPON RENGO‾ JOSHI SEINENDAN. Magnetic domains driving a Q-switched laser
A 10-mm cavity length magnetooptically Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 laser was demonstrated using a single-crystalline ferrimagnetic rare-earth iron garnet film. To design the Q-switching system, the magnetic, optical, and magnetooptical properties of the garnet film were measured. The diode pumped solid-state laser cavity was constructed using a 190-μm-thick garnet film with 58% transmittance. The garnet film had maze-shaped magnetic domains, and the domain walls disappeared when a field of over 200 Oe was applied. Therefore, the polarization state of the transmitted light was modified by modulating the magnetization, and a Q-switched pulse output with a pulse width of 5 ns and peak power of 255 W was achieved in the 10-mm-long cavity.
