Representative images of Ki-67, TUNEL, Caspase-3 (Active) and PARP-1 (Cleaved 85) at the end of experiments after combination and control treatments.
<p>A. Very low Ki-67 expression is seen in the combination test; reduced Ki-67 expression in the combination control and MAb C595 control while high Ki-67 expression is seen in the vehicle control (<i>P</i><0.05). B. Obvious TUNEL-positive cells are shown in combination test; some TUNEL-positive cells are shown in the combination control and MAb C595 control while no TUNEL-positive cells are seen in the vehicle control (<i>P</i><0.05). C. High caspase-3 (active) expression is shown in combination test; low caspase-3 (active) expression is shown in combination control and MAb C595 control while negative caspase-3 (active) expression is shown in vehicle control (<i>P</i><0.05). D. High PARP-1 (cleaved p85) expression is shown in combination test; low PARP-1 (cleaved p85) expression is shown in combination control and MAb C595 control while negative PARP-1 (cleaved p85) expression is shown in vehicle control (<i>P</i><0.05). The brown color indicates nuclear staining in Ki-67, caspase-3 (active) and PARP-1 (cleaved p85), while blue indicates nuclear staining with hematoxylin. In the TUNEL assay, the brown color indicates nuclear chromatin condensation and fragmentation with methylgreen nuclear staining. Magnification ×20 in B; Magnification ×40 in A, C, D. Representative images are shown.</p
Where does good quality qualitative health care research get published?
This short report aims to give some insight into current publication patterns for high quality qualitative health research, using the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 database. We explored patterns of publication by range and type of journal, by date and by methodological focus. We also looked at variations between the publications submitted to different Units of Assessment (UoAs), focusing particularly on the one most closely aligned with our own research area of Primary Care. Our brief analysis demonstrates that general medical/health journals with high impact factors are the dominant routes of publication, but there is variation according to the methodological approach adopted by articles. The number of qualitative health articles submitted to REF 2014 overall was small, and even more so for articles based on mixed methods research, qualitative methodology, or reviews/syntheses that included qualitative articles. Keywords: qualitative research; Research Excellence Framework (REF); publishin

The Early Warning System and policymaking in the European Union
Does the Early Warning System alert the European Commission about the prospects of passing new policy? We present a model of European Union policymaking in which the Early Warning System plays an important signalling role. In our model, the Commission uses signals from the Early Warning System to update its belief about governments’ voting strategies in the Council. The Commission may then anticipate difficult negotiations by withdrawing its proposal early. We find empirical evidence for our theory: (1) reasoned opinions submitted by national parliaments strongly predict opposition from their governments and (2) the Commission is more likely to withdraw proposals that receive reasoned opinions, even in the absence of a yellow card. Our results run counter to the dominant view in the literature that the Early Warning System is not a very relevant aspect of EU decision-making. Instead, reasoned opinions constitute a clear signal that negotiations are more likely to fail

MODELOWANIE PROCESU FILTRACJI FILTREM N-WARSTWOWYM PŁYNU Z ZANIECZYSZCZENIAMI WIELOSKŁADNIKOWYMI
In this article we considered and resolved the issue of incorporation of feedback of the process (the concentration of contamination of fluid and sediment) on the medium characteristics (porosity coefficient, filtration, diffusion, mass transfer, etc.) It was made during the simulation of cleaning fluid from multi impurities in n-ply sorption filter. We had retrieved algorithm numerically-asymptotic approximation solution of the corresponding model problem which is described by a system of nonlinear singularly perturbed differential equations "convection-diffusion-mass transfer." On this basis, we made a corresponding computer experiment.Rozpatrywane i rozwiązywany jest zagadnienie odwrotnego wpływu charakterystyk procesu (koncentracji zanieczyszczeń płynu i osadów) na charakterystyki ośrodka (współczynnik porowatości, filtracji, dyfuzji, przenoszenia masy, itp.) podczas modelowania procesu oczyszczania płynów z wieloskładnikowymi zanieczyszczeniami w N-warstwowym filtrze sorpcyjnym. Otrzymany algorytm asymptotycznie przybliża rozwiązanie odpowiedniego zadania modelowania, jest opisany układem równań nieliniowych „konwekcja-dyfuzja-transfer masy”. Na jego podstawie przeprowadzono testy obliczeniowe
