Non-Coherent Cooperative Communications Dispensing with Channel Estimation Relying on Erasure Insertion Aided Reed-Solomon Coded SFH M-ary FSK Subjected to Partial-Band Interference and Rayleigh Fading

The rationale of our design is that although much of the literature of cooperative systems assumes perfect coherent detection, the assumption of having any channel estimates at the relays imposes an unreasonable burden on the relay station. Hence, non-coherently detected Reed-Solomon (ReS) coded Slow Frequency Hopping (SFH) assisted M -ary Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) is proposed for cooperative wireless networks, subjected to both partial-band interference and Rayleigh fading. Erasure insertion (EI) assisted ReS decoding based on the joint maximum output-ratio threshold test (MO-RTT) is investigated in order to evaluate the attainable system performance. Compared to the conventional error-correction-only decoder, the EI scheme may achieve an Eb/N0 gain of approximately 3dB at the Codeword Error Probability, Pw , of 10-4 , when employing the ReS (31, 20) code combined with 32-FSK modulation. Additionally, we evaluated the system’s performance, when either equal gain combining (EGC) or selection combining (SC) techniques are employed at the destination’s receiver. The results demonstrated that in the presence of one and two assisting relays, the EGC scheme achieves gains of 1.5 dB and 1.0 dB at the Pw of 10-6 , respectively, compared to the SC arrangement. Furthermore, we demonstrated that for the same coding rate and packet size, the ReS (31, 20) code using EI decoding is capable of outperforming convolutional coding, when 32-FSK modulation is considered, whilst LDPC coding had an edge over the above two schemes

Distributed Human Computation (DHC) is a technique used to solve computational problems by incorporating the collaborative effort of a large number of humans. It is also a solution to AI-complete problems such as natural language processing. The Semantic Web with its root in AI is envisioned to be a decentralised world-wide information space for sharing machine-readable data with minimal integration costs. There are many research problems in the Semantic Web that are considered as AI-complete problems. An example is co-reference resolution, which involves determining whether different URIs refer to the same entity. This is considered to be a significant hurdle to overcome in the realisation of large-scale Semantic Web applications. In this paper, we propose a framework for building a DHC system on top of the Linked Data Cloud to solve various computational problems. To demonstrate the concept, we are focusing on handling the co-reference resolution in the Semantic Web when integrating distributed datasets. The traditional way to solve this problem is to design machine-learning algorithms. However, they are often computationally expensive, error-prone and do not scale. We designed a DHC system named iamResearcher, which solves the scientific publication author identity co-reference problem when integrating distributed bibliographic datasets. In our system, we aggregated 6 million bibliographic data from various publication repositories. Users can sign up to the system to audit and align their own publications, thus solving the co-reference problem in a distributed manner. The aggregated results are published to the Linked Data Cloud

Ching-Wen Cheng has been writing for more than 50 years. He uses easy Chinese and describes the deep side of human beings. He cares about the normal people in Taiwanese society. In this thesis, the author emphasizes on the old men, which few researchers notice. The first chapter is about the motivation of this research and the issues discussed in this study. The second chapter is about Ching-Wen Cheng\ue2s growing background, the history of his life, his litrature creating process and how these elements make him special. The third chapter is about the physical and psychological aging process of old men and how Ching-Wen Cheng depicts it in a sociological way. The fourth chapter analyzes old men in several ways. The author writes about controversial topics in traditional and modern societies and explores the meanings of life with past memories. The fifth chapter is the conclusion

The nomenclature of the lycophyte species Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching (Huperziaceae)

In 1982, Ren Chang Ching twice described the same lycophyte species under the names Lycopodium mingcheense (published in April; the original "minchegense" spelling being a correctable error) and Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching (published in May). Phlegmariurus mingcheensis cannot be taken as a combination based on Lycopodium mingcheense because in the original publication a different holotype was indicated and the name Lycopodium mingcheense was not mentioned. The correct names for this species in Huperzia, Lycopodium, and Phlegmariurus are Huperzia mingcheensis (Ching) Holub (basionym: Phlegmariurus mingcheensis), Lycopodium mingcheense Ching, and Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching, respectively. The recent lectotypification of the name Lycopodium mingcheense using P.S. Chiu 2069 (PE) was redundant since this specimen was clearly indicated as the holotype in Ching's original publication. The recent new name Phlegmariurus mingjoui X.C. Zhang is an illegitimate superfluous name

ABSTRAK STATUS KEDUDUKAN NGO/LSM INTERNASIONAL (GREENPEACE) SEBAGAI SUBYEK HUKUM DALAM HUKUM INTERNASIONAL Raden Angger Dimas Riyanto NPM : 110110060380 Greenpeace adalah salah satu lebaga internasional yang aktif di bidang lingkungan. Namun keberadaan Greenpeace dipermasalahkan terkait status badan hukumnya.

Mapping the Discipline of the Olympic Games An Author-Cocitation Analysis

    Get PDF
The authors conducted an author cocitation analysis on prominent authors writing about the Olympics during the 1990s. Author cocitation is an established bibliometric technique that can be used to measure the relative similarities of topics written about by the cited authors. This enables a visual representation of the “intellectual space” of the discipline, in this case the Olympics, to be created for the period under review. So core and peripheral research areas are identified, along with their major contributors. The representation appears as a two-dimensional cluster-enhanced map. Subject expertise was then applied to the results to place labels on the generated clusters of authors and their topics

    No full text
Hybrid-Automatic-Repeat-reQuest (H-ARQ) has become an indispensable technique in reliable communication systems. Hence, in this paper we review the state-of-art and investigate the performance of H-ARQ in the context of cooperative wireless communications. As a novel advance, we also propose a relay-switching regime based H-ARQ scheme, which is capable of increasing the achievable system throughput as confirmed by both theory and practice. Furthermore, we evaluate the achievable upper-bound performance in the context of perfect Channel State Information (CSI). Then we proceed to quantify the performance erosion imposed by realistic CSIbased-coherent detection as well as low complexity non-coherent detection assisted cooperative H-ARQ. Finally, we propose a general design guide-lines for H-ARQ aided cooperative systems

The <i>I Ching</i> as a Potential Jungian Application: History and Practice

    Get PDF
AbstractSwiss psychiatrist Carl Jung had a lifelong interest in the I Ching after discovering it in 1919. Jung’s interest in the I Ching is arguably more practical than purely theoretical or intellectual, and references to I Ching divination appear frequently in his various publications, seminars, letters and clinical practice records. After a few observations on the history of the study of the I Ching in China, the author categorizes Jung’s three uses of the I Ching as physical use (to preview future potentials of outer reality), psychological use (to reveal one’s psychological state), and psychical approach (to engage with the divine through “神”[“shen”, spiritual agencies]). Finally, the author discusses the current Jungian engagement by demonstrating clinical cases in contemporary times. Some Jungian analysts practise I Ching divination to obtain insights into the physical and psychological state of therapeutic relationships and for personal development. This paper is a historical and critical engagement of the Jungian practice of I Ching divination.</jats:p
