PORPHYRAZINE IMMOBILIZATION ON POLYESTER FABRIC AND HETEROGENEOUS CATALYTIC APPLICATION ON OXIDATION OF 2-MERCAPTOETHANOL

    No full text
The removal of the thiol compunds is very important in terms of the prevention of environmental pollution. Catalytic oxidation of 2-mercaptoethanol taking place on porphyrazine catalyst that has been immobilized on the fabric was investigated in this research. Experiments at different pH and temperature at five different concentrations of dissolved mercaptan was followed by continuously measuring the oxygen concentration in the solution. Obtained results are very well when compared to literature. Immobilization the porphyrazine on fabric by cationic dyeing process does not change the catalytic effect on the oxidation of 2-mercaptoethanol. So porphyrazines can be used by immobilization on the fabric by dyeing as catalysts

Dance, Long Exposure and Drawing: An Absurd Manifesto about the Female Body

    No full text
This paper summarises the evolution and production process of Kam, a long-exposure pixilation/ 2D animation film with a unique aesthetic approach that took three years to formulate and complete due to an iterative/fragmented production schedule. Kam, which means “shaman” in old Turkish, was conceived as a response to the rise of conservative and misogynist official discourse in Turkey, and it features a woman’s fierce dance. For this film, Turkish dancer Sevinc Baltali’s improvised performance was captured by the author using the technique of long-exposure photography. Condensing the motion of the dancer, the still frames created a flowing image on screen in which the dancer’s body is sometimes hardly perceivable. The dance flow was then recreated to the music of Amolvacy, an underground New York band featuring a modern interpretation of tribal music. Finally, the manifesto of the film was reinforced by adding another layer, this time of primitive drawings by the author, on top of the images, creating a more pronounced expression of the anger and the rebellious energy of the female body. This article argues that the unique aesthetics of the film attained at the end of an iterative and fragmented production process allowed a multi-layered liminal space for meaning to emerge. By elaborating on the relationship between the aesthetic approach, the political stance and the production methodology of this film, this article aims to demonstrate how animation can create an evocative and visceral experience that highlights and communicates what Herzog (2010) defines as “ecstatic truth”

Abstract Title: “Reading aloud fiction gives students a rich vocabulary”Author: Dilara AkcaySupervisor: Jenny MagnussonThe purpose of this study is to find out how teachers work with students' vocabulary development in reading aloud activities in fiction within the subject of Swedish.Furthermore, the purpose is to find out how teachers’ reason about their work to develop students' vocabulary in fiction reading aloud. The study’s questions are the following: What strategies do teachers use when reading fiction aloud in the Swedish subject to develop the students' vocabulary? How do the teachers reason about their work of developing students' vocabulary in fiction reading aloud? The material was analyzed based on Beck et al.'s (2013) teaching model on strategies for vocabulary development. This study is based on a qualitative method for answering the questions. A qualitative method is relevant to the study because the study examines what strategies teachers use to develop students' vocabulary in fiction reading aloud. To find out this, it is essential to observe and interview teachers. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three teachers from three different schools. The results of the observations showed that the two teachers, Jessica and Tina used the strategy of asking questions to the students and explaining words using everyday language. Jessica also worked with the strategy that the students are allowed to use the word themselves. In addition, Tina uses visual aids to deepen students' understanding of words and she uses body language and exemplifies the word by changing her voice, so the pupils get a better understanding of the words. Jessica uses visual aids to help students gain a deeper understanding of the word. The third teacher, Katarina, does not explain any words to the students, despite the fact that there were some difficult words in the book that could have been explained. Strategies such as pronouncing words and presenting words in new contexts did not appear in the observations. The teachers say in the interviews that they work on vocabulary development in fiction reading aloud. The strategies teachers use in reading aloud are to ask students questions about the meaning of the word and define the word in everyday language. Tina uses visual support to give students a deeper understanding of the word. Jessica uses a lot of body language to shape some difficult words, and Katarina says that she works with the three-cup method, where students find synonyms for the word. Tina and Jessica talk about how important reading aloud is for students' vocabulary development, and they read aloud for students to learn new words. Katarina believes that reading aloud is more for them to be a cozy moment for the students. Keywords: Vocabulary development, middle school, Swedish teaching, reading aloud. There are three weak intermolecular C-H...N type hydrogen bonds in the molecular structure. the geometrical parameters, vibration frequencies, HOMO LUMO energies, and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) map of the compound (3) in ground state were calculated by using density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) with the 6-311G(d) basis set. Calculated geometrical parameters were compared with X-ray diffraction geometric parameters. on the other hand, theoretical and experimental FT-IR results were also compared.Higher Education CouncilThe author would like to thank the Higher Education Council for supporting this study within international research

Actual Distributions and Validity of Petroleuciscus spp., with the Range Extension and Length-Weight Relationship Data in Case of Petroleuciscus ninae

    No full text
The genus Petroleuciscus was known from the Marmara, Aegean, and Black Sea drainages, as well as southeast Anatolia and Iran. However, studies conducted in recent years have suggested that the species described in southeast Anatolia and Iran belong to different genera. The results and recommendations of these studies were evaluated. On the other hand, in the scope of this study, the taxonomic status and length-weight relationship of several Petroleuciscus ninae populations in Western Anatolia were evaluated. The morphological comparisons revealed that Tahtali Reservoir, Kucuk Menderes and Saricay rivers, and Acigol Lake`s Petroleuciscus populations recorded as Petroleuciscus smyrnaeus in all previous studies belong to P. ninae which was known only from the type locality Akcay Stream. In addition, the length-weight relationship of P. ninae in the lakes Akgol and Belevi, Lake Acigol, stream Akcay, Saricay River, an inflow of Yenisehir Reservoir and inflow of Tahtali Reservoir were studied. The following research considers some first records and comprehensive information on the length-weight relationship of P. ninae in the Western Anatolia water resources. In study, the constant b changed from 3.101 to 3.389 (Akcay Stream) in all the sampling locations. It is expected that the results of this research might support the conservation of this species and contribute knowledge of its taxonomic status.Ege University Scientific Research Commission [17-SUF-016]; TUBIdot;TAK BIdot;DEB (2219 Program)We would like to thank to Ege University Scientific Research Commission because of the materials from Lake Belevi and Akgoel collected during closed project BAP-Project No: 17-SUF-016. Spare parts recommendation for corrective maintenance of capital goods considering demand dependency

    No full text
We consider a maintenance service provider that services geographically dispersed customers with its local service engineers. Traditionally, when a system failure is reported, a service engineer makes a diagnostic visit to the customer's location to perform corrective maintenance. If spare parts are required, they are ordered and a second visit is scheduled at a later date to complete the corrective maintenance. In this paper, the service provider can proactively send spare parts to the customer to avoid the costly second visit. Motivated by a real-world problem in the high-tech industry, our model considers the cost of a second visit, fixed shipment costs, retrieval costs for the parts that are sent to the customer, and send-back costs for the parts that are sent but not used for corrective maintenance. The uncertainty in the set of parts required for corrective maintenance is modeled with a general distribution that can capture the dependencies between demands for different spare parts. We formulate an integer linear program to find the optimal set of spare parts that minimizes the expected total cost. We derive analytical results for the structure of the optimal policy and compare the optimal policy with two benchmark policies from practice. We observe that the policies from practice often find the optimal policy, and a new heuristic policy that exploits the structure of the optimal policy, on average, performs better than the benchmark policies.Transport and Logistic

Re-enactment simulation for buffer size optimization in semiconductor back-end production

    No full text
In this work, we propose a re-enactment simulation-based optimization method to determine the minimal total buffer capacity in an assembly line required to meet a target throughput. A distinguishing feature is the use of real-time event traces, in a fast fluid flow simulation model. Employing real-time event traces avoids the necessity to make restrictive modeling assumptions. The fluid simulation is combined with a multi start search algorithm. To demonstrate its effectiveness, the method is applied to a real-world use case in lead frame based semiconductor back-end manufacturing. This use case considers an assembly line consisting of six machines, for which the proposed method determines optimal buffer size configurations within several minutes of computational time.Accepted Author ManuscriptIntensified Reaction and Separation System
