Great River Reading Series: Michael Kleber-Diggs
No full textOn Oct. 19, poet Michael Kleber-Diggs will read from of his work at Winona State University. Kleber-Diggs will give a public reading at 5pm in Science Laboratory Center 120; he will also give a reading at 7pm in the K.E.A.P. Center space in Kryszko 162. Both events are free and open to the public. These events are sponsored by WSU’s John S. Lucas Great River Reading Series and by the Office of Equity and Inclusive Excellence.
Kleber-Diggs is the author of Worldly Things, which was awarded the 2020 Max Ritvo Poetry Prize. His work is described as combining moments suffused with love—teaching his daughter how to drive; watching his grandmother bake a cake; waking beside his beloved to ponder trumpet mechanics—with moments of wrenching grief: a father’s life ended by a gun; mourning children draped around their mother’s waist; Freddie Gray’s death in police custody. With uncompromising candor, Kleber-Diggs documents the many ways America systemically fails those who call it home while also calling upon our collective potential for something better. “Let’s create folklore side-by-side,” he urges, asking us to aspire to a form of nurturing defined by tenderness, to a kind of community devoted to mutual prosperity. “All of us want,” after all, “our share of light, and just enough rainfall.”
Kleber-Diggs was born and raised in Kansas and now lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. His work has appeared in Lit Hub, the Rumpus, Rain Taxi, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Water~Stone Review, Midway Review, North Dakota Quarterly and a few anthologies. He teaches poetry and creative non-fiction through the Minnesota Prison Writers Workshop

Partindo da ideia que o grupo constitui um agenciamento coletivo que resiste às estratégias de saber-poder psiquiátrico, proponho nesta dissertação basicamente duas tentativas: a) problematizar os modos pelos quais a trupe elabora seu conhecimento, b) problematizar os modos pelos quais em suas práticas pode tornar-se sujeito. Imbricada num dispositivo psiquiátrico que representa seu objeto de intervenção, induz um discurso e produz os mais variados efeitos de poder sobre ele, a trupe da Utu recusa isso que é dito, produzido, e reconhecido sobre corpo do louco. Aberta aos acontecimentos, suas práticas e intervenções possibilitam singularizações que não passam pelas relações de saber e poder psi, mas sim pelos devires animais, devires imperceptíveis, devires loucos.Abstract : This paper seeks to follow the route of a ?esquizozó? theater group called ?Utu Suru Baco Smica?. Starting from the idea that the group constitutes a collective assemblage that resists to the strategies of psychiatric knowledge-power, I propose on this paper two attempts basically: a) discuss the ways the group knows madness, b) discuss the ways they can become subject in their practices. Imbricated in a psychiatric dispositive representing its object of intervention, it induces a speech and produces different effects of power on it, the group from Utu refuses what is said, reproduced and acknowledged about the body of a mad. Open to the happenings their practices and interventions enable particularizations that do not go through the relations of psychiatric knowledge and power, but through the animal becoming, imperceptible becoming, madness becoming

No full textDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia, Florianópolis, 2013.Este estudo tem por objetivo apresentar como a subjetividade de "Cinderelo", um sujeito criminoso da década de 80, em Florianópolis - SC, foi sendo produzida pelo Jornal "O Estado". A partir das orientações teóricas de Michel Foucault, esta dissertação se pauta no entendimento de que a subjetividade é construída por meio de movimentos de objetivação e subjetivação, e através da articulação contínua entre saber, poder e sujeito. Desse modo, são apresentadas as visibilidades que foram sendo desenhadas para o criminoso na mídia, a qual ganha legitimidade ao ser atravessada por diversos saberes e práticas. A mídia exerce poder de vigilância sobre o criminoso, divulga saberes sobre ele por meio do discurso, buscando marcá-lo com uma identidade, e ao mesmo tempo, diferenciá-lo de toda a população, em prol de políticas de segurança. Esta dissertação se configura como um estudo arqueológico, já que busca apreender por meio do discurso jornalístico, como a identidade de "Cinderelo" foi produzida, tendo como universo documental as notícias do jornal "O Estado", no período de 1980 a 1987. Tal análise nos indica para uma diversidade de visibilidades ao criminoso, já que o mesmo fazia uso de estratégias de resistência ao poder, transgressões ao saber e, desse modo, exercia práticas de liberdade. "Cinderelo" foi desenhado pela mídia como criminoso perigoso, mas também como "menino atrevido", justiceiro e em função de suas fugas, herói. Abstract : This study has as aim to present how the subjectivity of "Cinderelo", a criminal character from 80's decade, in Florianópolis - Sc, was being produced by the newspaper "O Estado". Following the Michel Foucault theoretical orientations, this dissertation has as main focus the understanding that the subjectivity is built by movements of objectivization and subjectivation, and thru the continuous articulations between knowledge, power and subject. Thus, are presented the visibilities which have been designed to the criminal on media, which gains legitimacy by being crossed by various knowledges and practices. Media to perform power of surveillance on the criminal, disseminate knowledge about him through discourse, seeking mark him with an identity, and at the same time, make him different of everybody, in favor of security policies. This dissertation is configured as an archaeological study, since aims to understand by journalistic speech, how "Cinderelo's" identity was produced, having as documental universe news from the newspaper "O Estado", between 1980 and 1987. No full textThis research seeks to discuss the procedures of scenic reinterpretation on popular traditions in dance and theater, through the study of some artwork of the Grial Dance Group and researcher Kleber Lourenço. Through these works, we will discuss concepts related to the creative process in contemporary art, such as the systematization of the interpreter's body of training and his role as a creative mind in the piece. The trajectory of a trip is used as a metaphor for unwinding the research aims, the pursuit of the brincante's (player's or joker's) body. The brincante's body is a concept idealized by the author to present the corporeality of artists, transiting in between the languages of theater, dance and popular culture. This concept relies on the balance between cultural sources and driving forces, to develop a reflection on corporeality in the scene's recreation processA presente pesquisa busca refletir sobre os procedimentos de releitura cênica das tradições populares na dança e no teatro, através do estudo de alguns trabalhos artísticos do Grupo Grial de Dança e do pesquisador Kleber Lourenço.
