Photobook or Artist’s Book? Where do we draw the line?
"By converting photobooks into a ‘container’ of information, Parr and Badger’s classification imposes a divorce between content (author) and the physical attributes of the book (design, printing, editing, etc.). A separation that has its roots in Parr and Badger’s explicit and laudable desire to not only establish the photographer as an ‘auteur’ but also the ‘photobook’ as the ‘literary novel of photographically illustrated books’. However, while such a classification might be sufficient to describe past photobook production, it is perhaps too restrictive to describe present-day photobook-making." In a first in a series of commissioned guest contributions to the Belgian Platform for Photobooks, Jose Luis Neves wonders where to draw the line between photobooks and artist's books
FINANCING COMMUNITY FACILITIES: A CASE STUDY OF THE PARKS AND RECREATIONAL GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND MEASURE OF SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA
This study of the City of San Jose’s Parks and Recreation General Obligation (GO) Bond Measure seeks to identify the politics-, management-, and planning-related lessons learned by the City as it developed its community facilities using the GO bonds proceeds. The study finds that these lessons include: be conservative in what you promise the residents; be prepared for changes in economic environment by identifying supplementary funding sources should the primary source not yield adequate funds; make sure that the jurisdiction is organizationally capable of handling the increased workload; and prepare detailed project plans prior to the bond issuance.Community Infrastructure and Services; Municipal Bonds; Public Finance

Interaction of virgin fibers to secundary ones in the physical properties of multilayers cartons
Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que cartões contendo fibras obtidas a partir de aparas de embalagens do tipo longa vida têm suas características de resistência à tração, arrebentamento, rasgo e delaminação aumentadas, se comparadas a cartões para embalagens existentes no mercado brasileiroThe cartonboard industries usually use recycled fibers in the middle layers of multiply cartons to reduce costs or to improve particular properties as bulk and mechanical resistance, but recycled fibers may change the cartons properties and few studies have been done to analyze these effects on cartonboard characteristics. This work studies cartonboards composed of virgin eucalyptus bleached kraft pulp at the top layer and, on the bottom, brown fibers from liquid carton packages recycling that is comprised of 75% paper (Pines kraft puIp), 20 % low density polyethylene and 5 % aluminum. After each cycle, the cartonboard was completely repulped and entered in the brown layer composition of a new one. The cycle was repeated five times, and in each one it was analyzed the tensile, tear and burst index, Taber stiffuess, plybond, double folding, air flow resistance and bulk. All the properties were compared to industrial cartonboards obtained in the Brazilian market. The results show that using liquid carton packages fibers in cartonboards composition, there is an increase in tear, tensile, burst and plybond resistance if compared to other cartonboards for packages in Brazilian market

Maxillary lateral incisor agenesis and its relationship to overall tooth size
Statement of problem: Agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisor is linked to differences in overall tooth size. Thus, the mesio-distal space required for final esthetic restoration in patients with missing one of both maxillary lateral incisors may be smaller.
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to determine if a tooth size discrepancy exists in orthodontic patients with agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisor(s).
Material and methods. Forty sets of dental casts from white orthodontic patients (19 male and 21 female) mean age 15.9 years were collected. All casts had agenesis of one or both maxillary lateral incisors. The teeth were measured with a digital caliper at their greatest mesio-distal width and then compared to a control group matched for ethnicity, age and sex. S One-way repeated measures ANOVA (α=.05) was used for statistical analysis.
Results. Males in the test group had significantly smaller maxillary posterior teeth when compared to males in the control group, with differences ranging from 0.28-0.78mm. Females showed significantly smaller maxillary anterior teeth, with differences ranging from 0.22-0.42mm. The remaining maxillary lateral incisor was also significantly smaller (1.27mm difference) in the male and female unilateral agenesis test groups indicating higher incidence of ‘peg’ laterals when compared to the control group.
Conclusions. Agenesis of one or both maxillary lateral incisors is associated with a tooth size discrepancy. White males experienced smaller than normal posterior maxillary teeth and females showed smaller anterior maxillary teeth. This article is based on the Master’s thesis (J.W.) presented in 2011 in partial fulfilment of requirements for the degree of Master of Science, Marquette University School of Dentistry, 2011.Peer reviewe
