No full textDidemnum longigaster sp. nov. Rocha & Neves (Figs 8, 9) Examined material: Holotype: MZUSP 0 0 0 92 one colony, Quebramar Norte, Salvador, Bahia, 12 ° 57 ’ 52 ” S, 38 ° 30 ’ 57 ” W, 4 m, col. R. M. Rocha, 11.12. 2007. Etymology. The name refers to the elongated stomach that is uncommon in didemnids. The colony is encrusting, around 10 cm long and 2 mm thick. Beige with orange zooids, the colony has large circular cloacae with lobed rim (Fig. 8 A). When preserved in formalin the colony turns white. Spicules are very dense in the surface of the colony, but less so in the middle and basal tunic layers. Spicules are large and stellate, between 60 and 100 µm with 9–10 short conic rays in optical transverse section (Fig. 8 B). Zooids are 1.5 mm long. When relaxed, the thorax is larger than the abdomen. The oral siphon is tubular with shallow rounded lobes. The atrial aperture is wide exposing the pharynx, atrial languet is absent. The muscular process projects from the base of the thorax and is longer than the abdomen. Thoracic organs are elongated, protruding, located between the third and fourth rows of stigmata close to the endostyle. Each row has 5–6 stigmata on each side (Figs. 8 C, 9 A). No stolonic vessels were observed in the abdomen. The esophagus is short. In general, all zooids have elongated stomach, but not all of them as long as in Figs. 8 D and 9 B. The intestine does not form a secondary loop and the ascending portion passes beside, without overlaying, the stomach. The testis has a single and spherical follicle, surrounded by 8 coils of the sperm duct (Figs. 8 E, 9 B). Larvae are oval, 0.4 mm trunk length, around which the tail winds half way. Three adhesive papillae are present, with long and wide stalks plus six pairs of ectodermal ampullae. The sensorial vesicle (including ocellus and otolith) is in the mid-dorsal region of the larval trunk (Figs. 8 F, 9 C). Remarks. No other Didemnum species has an elongated stomach as in D. longigaster. The combination of this elongated stomach, large spicules and larvae with six pairs of ectodermal ampullae is also unique. In the Atlantic, two other species are of the same colony color. Didemnum granulatum have a beige color morph, but the colony surface has small projections filled with spicules, that are much smaller than in D. longigaster (Rocha et al. 2005). Didemnum flammacolor Rocha, Neves & Gamba, 2015, sp. nov.
No full textDidemnum flammacolor sp. nov. Rocha & Neves (Figs 4, 5) Examined material: Holotype: MZUSP 0 0 0 90 one colony, Ondina, Salvador, Bahia, 13 o00’ 33 ” S, 38 o 31 ’ 41 ” W, Col. R. M. Rocha, 0 6.06. 2004. Etymology. The name refers to the red color of the living colony. The encrusting colony is approximately 3 cm long and 1 mm thick. Colony surface is red and the rim of cloacal cavities is white due to the presence of spicules (Fig. 4 A); when fixed in formaldehyde, the color fades to pinkish. Spicules are abundant throughout the surface, giving the colony a firm and brittle consistency; spicules are less abundant in the middle and lower layers of the tunic. Spicules are stellate, approximately 30 Μm in diameter with eight tapered rays in cross section; some spicules are approximately 20 Μm in diameter and have 7–10 conical and truncated rays in optical transverse section (Fig. 4 B). Zooids are about 1 mm long. The oral siphon has six small triangular lobes. The atrial aperture is wide open, exposing most of the pharynx and an atrial languet is absent. The muscular process projects from the esophagealrectal peduncle and is variable in length and may be absent in some zooids, and tends to be shorter than the abdomen. Thoracic organs are circular, 80 µm in length, protruding, at the level of the fourth row of pharyngeal slits. There are between 6 and 7 stigmata per row on each side of the pharynx (Fig. 5 A). The abdomen is larger than the thorax. One small stolonic vessel was observed in some zooids. The esophagus is short. The location and shape of the stomach are typical; the duodenum is shorter than the stomach; the intestinal loop forms a deep secondary loop, covering the stomach. The single testis is spherical and surrounded by nine coils of the sperm duct (Fig. 5 B). No oocytes were found. Larvae are oval, trunk is approximately 0.4 mm in length, around which the tail winds three-quarters of the way. Larvae are non-pigmented, have three linearly arranged adhesive papillae that are close together on short stalks, plus four pairs of rounded ectodermal ampullae. The sensory vesicle (including ocellus and otolith) is in the mid-dorsal region of the larval trunk (Figs. 4 C, 5 C). Remarks. The known Didemnum species with reddish colonies differ from D. flammacolor in many ways. Didemnum moseleyi (Herdman, 1886) and D. pseudofulgens Médioni, 1970 have spicules with a greater number of short, conical rays (Kott 2001; Médioni 1970). Didemnum rodriguesi colonies have a reticulate pattern on the surface of the tunic and a different number of larval ampullae (Rocha & Monniot 1993; Monniot 2010). Didemnum membranaceum Sluiter, 1909 has larger spicules (0.1 mm) with 4–6 conical rays in transverse optical section (Monniot & Monniot 2008). Didemnum madeleinae Monniot & Monniot, 2001 have larvae with 12 or more pairs of ampullae and the trunk is longer (Monniot & Monniot 2001). Didemnum coccineum Von Drasche, 1883 and D. amourouxi Lafargue, 1976 also have a greater number of ampullae but only two adhesive papillae (Lafargue & Wahl 1987). Some other species of Didemnum have 9 turns of sperm duct and larvae with 3 adhesive papillae and 4 pairs of ampullae. Didemnum crescente Kott, 2001 has larger spicules (70 µm), longer retractor muscles and 0.6 mm long larval trunk (Kott 2001). Didemnum cuculiferum (Sluiter, 1909) has longer retractor muscle and larger larvae (0.57 mm). Didemnum fragilis Sluite 1909, has a fragile colony with circular spicules and larger larvae (0.78 mm) (Monniot & Monniot 1987). Didemnum hiopaa Monniot & Monniot, 1987 form small and transparent colonies and has spicules with larger number of rays. Didemnum incantum (Herdman, 1899) has longer retractor muscle, fewer pharyngeal stigmata in each row (4–6), and the spicules rays have a tetrahedral basis. Name given to honor Gretchen Lambert because of her many contributions to the knowledge of ascidian biodiversity. Encrusting colonies are 5 to 20 cm long and about 3 mm thick. Colonies are red, some having cloacal apertures whit a white rim due to the presence of spicules but others uniformly colored (Fig. 6 A). After preservation in formalin they turn white. Spicules are dense on the surface of the firm and brittle colony, and are less dense in the middle and basal layers of the tunic. Spicules are small and stellate, less than 25 µm in diameter, with long and cylindrical rays, rounded at the tip. There are six rays in optical transverse section (Fig. 6 B). Zooids are between 1.0 and 1.8 mm long, thorax and abdomen are equal in size. The oral siphon has six small triangular lobes. The atrial aperture is wide exposing the second and third rows of pharyngeal slits. The atrial languet is absent. The muscular process projects from the esophageal-rectal peduncle and it is shorter than the abdomen. Lateral organs are protruding between the third and fourth rows of stigmata, but shape varies among zooids: some are oval and other are z-shaped. Between 6 and 9 stigmata per row are on each side of the pharynx (Fig. 6 D, 7 A). The esophagus is short; the stomach location and shape are typical, the duodenum is shorter than the stomach; the intestinal loop (with 2–3 constrictions) forms a deep secondary loop, covering the stomach. There are two small stolonic vessels. Gonads are located in the intestinal loop, one beside the other. The testis is single, spherical and surrounded by 7 coils of the sperm duct (Fig. 6 C, 7 B).The ovarium has one oocyte (0.3 mm). A few zooids were budding. Larval trunk is oval, about 0.4 mm long, around which the tail winds half way. Larvae have three linearly arranged adhesive papillae with long stalks, plus five pairs of ectodermal ampullae. The sensory vesicle (including ocellus and otolith) is in the mid-dorsal region of the larval trunk (Fig. 6 E, 7 C). Remarks. Colonies of Didemnum lambertae and D. flammacolor are similar in external appearance, but notable differences are in spicules (number and shape of rays), zooids (number of pharyngeal stigmata, size of lateral organs, shape of intestine and number of sperm duct coils), and larvae (number and shape of ampullae). Few species of Didemnum have larvae with 5 pairs of ampullae. Didemnum nekozita Tokioka, 1967 is found at greater depths (20–30 m), has posterior stomach and fewer stigmata in each half-row of the pharynx (five). Didemnum mutabile Monniot Monniot, 1987 has smaller larvae (0.28 mm) and larger spicules with short rays (35–40 µm) (Monniot & Monniot 1987). Didemnum fuscum Sluiter, 1909 has larger spicules (60–90 µm), fewer stigmata in the pharynx (4–6 per half row) and 9 turns of the sperm duct. Didemnum pecten Kott, 2001 has larger spicules (56 µm) and 9 turns of the sperm duct. Didemnum poecilomorpha Monniot & Monniot, 1996 has larger spicules (60 µm), 8 turns of the sperm duct and larvae with symbiont algae. Didemnum sordidum Kott, 2001 has larger spicules (65 µm), smaller zooids (0.6 mm), and many granule brown cells in zooids and larvae (Kott 2001). Compreende cerca de 600 espécies, representando 20% de todas as ascídias conhecidas até o momento. As águas tropicais do Caribe são conhecidas pela riqueza e abundância de invertebrados marinhos e a costa atlântica do Panamá é caracterizada pela
presença de um mosaico de hábitats variados que proporcionam importantes substratos naturais para a comunidade incrustante. O presente trabalho apresenta descrições detalhadas de didemnídeos coletados entre os anos de 2003 e 2014 em 12 pontos do arquipélago de Bocas del Toro – Panamá. Foram identificadas 19 espécies, das quais cinco haviam sido registradas na região (Diplosoma listerianum, Lissoclinum verrilli, Didemnum granulatum, D. psammatodes e Trididemnum orbiculatum), sete são novos registros (Lissoclinum abdominale, Didemnum calliginosum, D. cineraceum, D. perlucidum, D. vanderhorsti, Trididemnum palmae e T. thetidis) e sete são espécies novas (Diplosoma sp. nov. 1, Diplosoma sp. nov. 2, Lissoclinum sp. nov. 1, Lissoclinum sp. nov. 2, Didemnum sp. nov., Trididemnum sp. nov. 1 e Trididemnum sp. nov. 2). Com estes resultados, o Panamá está entre as regiões do Caribe com maior número de didemnídeos registrados, mostrando a importância de se considerar a região objeto de esforço no monitoramento e na conservação dos diferentes hábitats e dos invertebrados marinhos que ali habitam.

Comprising ca. 600 species, that represents 20% of all known ascidians. The Caribbean tropical waters are known for the richness and abundance of marine invertebrates and the Panama Atlantic coast is characterized by the presence of different habitats that provide important natural substrates for sessile communities. This paper reports detailed descriptions of didemnids collected between 2003 and 2014 in 12 points in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro - Panama. Nineteen species were identified, of which five have been previously registered in the region (Diplosoma listerianum, Lissoclinum verrilli, Didemnum granulatum, D. psammatodes and Trididemnum orbiculatum), seven are new records (Lissoclinum abdominale, Didemnum calliginosum, D. cineraceum, D. perlucidum, D. vanderhorsti, Trididemnum palmae and T. thetidis) and seven are new species (Diplosoma sp. nov. 1, Diplosoma sp. nov. 2, Lissoclinum sp. nov. 1, Lissoclinum sp. nov. 2, Didemnum sp. nov., Trididemnum sp. nov. 1 and Trididemnum sp nov. 2). With these results, Panama is among the regions of the Caribbean Sea with the highest number of didemnids, showing the importance of considering the monitoring effort and conservation of different habitats and marine invertebrates that live in this region.

Ascídias em marinas na região de Salvador, BA com ênfase em detecção de espécies introduzidas

Curso de Graduação em Ciências BiológicasResumo : A Classe Ascidiacea é composta por invertebrados marinhos bentônicos, cujo habito séssil permite a dispersão das espécies incrustadas nos cascos de navios e de suas larvas pela água de lastro, colocando-as como importantes indicadoras de bioinvasão. Na Baia de Todos os Santos (BTS) está localizado o Porto de Salvador, cujo fluxo de navios é intenso durante todo o ano, justificando a importância de se conhecer e monitorar a fauna marinha da região, para detecção precoce de bioinvasões. Este trabalho teve como objetivos identificar e quantificar as ascídias presentes em substrato artificial em diferentes regiões da BTS e classificá-las como nativas, criptogênicas ou introduzidas. A coleta foi feita de forma passiva utilizando 24 placas de polietileno submersas entre dezembro/2011 e fevereiro/2012 em quatro marinas. Foram encontrados 31 taxons, dos quais dez foram identificados em nível de gênero, vinte em nível de espécie e um em nível de família. Dentre as espécies identificadas, Didemnum vanderhorsti, Ascidia nordestina e Symplegma rubra foram classificadas como nativas. Didemnum perlucidum, Didemnum psammatodes, Diplosoma listerianum, Lissoclinum fragile, Polyclinum constellatum, Phallusia nigra, Botrylloides nigrum, Symplegma brakenhielmi, Styela canopus, Microcosmus exasperatus e Herdmania pallida foram classificadas como criptogênicas pela sua ampla distribuição geográfica e por não terem definidas as localidades de origem. As espécies classificadas como introduzidas foram: Ascidia sydneiensis e Styela plicata, cuja origem é no oceano Pacífico, Ascidia curvata com origem no Caribe, Distaplia stylifera com distribuição pan-tropical, e registros recentes na costa brasileira, e Botryllus leachii, sendo este, seu primeiro registro na costa atlântica. A marina Mercado Modelo foi apontada pela análise de diversidade de Shannon como a de maior riqueza, com índice 1,25, apresentando 22 espécies, enquanto a marina Ribeira, com apenas nove espécies encontradas, foi apontada como a de menor diversidade, com índice de 0,82. Comparando as marinas em relação à abundância e à riqueza, Mercado Modelo e Itaparica exibem maior similaridade, entre 30% e 40% respectivamente, enquanto a marina de Ribeira aparece com menor relação entre as demais. Desta forma, observa-se que a distribuição de muitas espécies é bastante localizada e que há necessidade de monitoramento de várias localidades para melhor avaliação de bioinvasão na BTS. Em caso de priorizar uma marina para monitoramento, a do Mercado Modelo seria a mais adequada, por sua proximidade com o porto. As marinas da Baia de Todos os Santos apresentaram altos valores de similaridade com marinas localizadas no Pacífico, corroborando a hipótese de homogeneização de comunidades pela bioinvasão, reafirmando a necessidade de estudos sobre a fauna marinha incrustante na região
Teddy bear clinic: an integrative review

Purpose: Multiple interventions sought to transform the pediatric clientele
interaction with the health care setting into a positive experience, including the
Teddy Bear Clinic (TBC). Our study aimed to describe the existing literature on
the TBC with a view to the future design and implementation of this intervention
by nurses.
Design and Methods: Integrative review performed in four databases following
the PRISMA guidelines. Inclusion criteria were using the words "teddy bear"
or "doll" in the abstract and describing the TBC within the manuscript. Two
independent researchers analyzed the titles and abstracts reaching 85%
agreement.
Results: Eleven articles comprised the final sample, which presents details
of the TBC intervention such as TBC stations, intervention duration, the
health care providers involved, and materials used. Children’s drawings,
questionnaires and anxiety scales were used for outcome assessment.
Conclusions: A TBC is a viable pediatric education strategy that benefit children
and professionals, and requires organization of the team for recruitment and
execution.
Practice Implications: The TBC is a potential intervention for pediatric
nursing research and care
Humanização dos serviços de saúde: avanços, paradoxos e desafios
No full textDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia Política, Florianópolis, 2015.Este trabalho refere-se ao estudo dos avanços, paradoxos e desafios da Política Nacional de Humanização na atenção e gestão dos serviços de saúde encontrados nos discursos dos consultores dessa política e dos trabalhadores e gestores do SUS de Januária - MG. Através das entrevistas foi possível identificar: 1) a polissemia que o termo humanização assume nos territórios reforça uma concepção romântica e desloca a perspectiva apresentada pela Política Nacional de Humanização, sendo necessário, portanto, uma ressignificação do termo para que o movimento da humanização das práticas de atenção e gestão seja desviado de uma possível idealização do humano e passe a ser compreendido como um processo de caráter instituinte e que se constrói coletivamente através da inclusão dos diferentes sujeitos envolvidos na produção de saúde; 2) a lógica hegemônica de produção de saúde encontra-se alicerçada num modelo autoritário e não favorece a democratização institucional; 3) as instituições formadoras reiteram o modelo biomédico e exclui a produção de subjetividades do processo de produção de saúde; 4) os consultores percebem uma tensionalidade entre a lógica da PNH e o modo de fazer das outras políticas de saúde. Sobre este último item, percebemos que essa incongruência faz com que os gestores de saúde encontrem pouca ou nenhuma correspondência entre a PNH e as demais políticas do MS e, como consequência, a gestão tende a concentrar os seus esforços prioritariamente nos aspectos quantitativos da produção de saúde em detrimento da qualidade dos processos e da valorização do trabalho e do trabalhador. Concluímos com esse trabalho que embora a força instituinte da PNH seja uma ferramenta precípua para a defesa do SUS, ainda é necessária uma articulação mais fortalecida com as demais políticas públicas de saúde e um esforço multissetorial para fortalecer a humanização nos mais diversos e singulares territórios, fomentando nos gestores e trabalhadores do SUS um modo mais reflexivo e cogerido de executar as políticas de saúde.Abstract : This work refers to the study of the advances, paradoxes and challenges of the Humanization National Policy in care and management of health services found in the speeches of consultants from this policy, workers and managers from SUS at Januária - MG. Through this interview was possible to identify: 1) The polysemy from the term humanization assumed on the territory reinforces a romantic conception and deviates from the perspective presented by the Humanization National Policy, being necessary, then, to reframe the term so the care and management practices from the humanization movement is diverted from a possible idealization of human and starts to be comprehended as an establishing character process that is collectively build thorough the inclusion of different individuals involved in the health production; 2) The health production hegemonic logic lies in an authoritarian model and does not help institutional democratization; 3) The institutions formed reinforce the biomedical model and excludes the subjectivities production of the health production process; 4) The consultants notice a tension between the Humanization National Policy logic and the way to perform the other health policies. About the last item, we noticed that this inconsistency leave the health managers with little or none correspondence between Humanization National Policy and the other Ministry of Health policies and, as a consequence, the management tends to focus its efforts in quantitative aspects of health production impairing the process quality and the work and worker valuation. We conclude with this work, although the Humanization National Policy establishing force is the main tool for the SUS defense, that it is still needed some powerful articulation with other health public policies and a multisectoral effort to strengthen the humanization in unique and many other territories, promoting in SUS managers and workers a reflexive and co-managed way to perform health policies
