"Concious procreation": Neo-Malthusianism in southern Europe and Latin America around 1900
One main concern of Ecological Economics is the balance between human population and natural resources. This is rightly named “the Malthusian question” because Malthus predicted that human populations, if unchecked, would grow exponentially while agricultural production (and other land-based productions) would be subject to decreasing returns to the labour input. This article shows that over one hundred years ago, there was in Europe and America a successful social movement that called itself “Neo-Malthusianism”. In contrast to Malthus’ pessimism, it believed that population growth could be stopped among the poor classes by voluntary decisions. Women were entitled to choose the number of children they wanted to have. The movement did not appeal to the State to impose restrictions on population growth. On the contrary, in Southern Europe it was based on “bottom up” activism against governments and the Catholic Church.Population growth. Demographic transition. Malthus. Feminist neo-malthusianism. It discusses the use made ofthe evidence and its various factors, it is also recommended to extendthe period of time for inclusion of articles.

Between Voices and Harmonies: A Creative Journey in the Appropriation Of Neo Soul
Maestro en MúsicaPregradoThe main objective of this project is to explore and apply musical and vocal tools of the Neo Soul genre through a research-creation approach. It specifically seeks the appropriation of characteristic elements of Neo Soul, taking as references prominent artists such as Yebba and Pj Morton. This process will materialize in the creation of three original compositions that reflect the essence and style of the genre.
To achieve this objective, a technical and harmonic analysis was carried out. Initially, a detailed investigation of the Neo Soul genre was carried out, addressing its bases, influences and harmonic characteristics, supported by a review of specialized bibliography, relevant academic documents and videos. Subsequently, we proceeded to analyze and extract specific elements from Yebba and Pj Morton's interpretations, through harmonic transcriptions, video analysis and creative adaptations.
Once the analysis phase was completed, we proceeded to the composition of three original songs, "Una y otra vez", "LUZ", "Grietas", each with their respective instrumental and vocal arrangements. For the production and recording of these compositions, digital tools were used, with the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Logic as the main platform. In addition, basic knowledge was used to facilitate the implementation of the creation process.
These songs were arranged with specific excerpts that were used in the live performance, in order to complement the format and enrich the listening experience for the audience

A neo-Ricardian critique of the traditional static theory of trade, customs unions and common markets
The vast majority of meaningful discussions about the processes of economic integration and liberalization of trade have so far revolved around the neoclassical theory. This paper is based on the neo-Ricardian theory, briefly investigates the issues of free trade, customs unions and common markets, and shows that the relevant neoclassical propositions do not hold and/or make no sense in a world ‘of production of commodities by means of commodities’. Thus, the fundamental theoretical presuppositions of the aforesaid debate are called in question.common markets; customs unions; free trade; neo-Ricardian theory; traditional static theory
Why has productivity growth stagnated in most Latin-American countries since the neo-liberal reforms?
Latin America’s economic performance since the beginning of neo-liberal reforms has been poor; this not only contrasts with its own performance pre-1980, but also with what has happened in Asia since 1980. I shall argue that the weakness of the region’s new paradigm is rooted as much in its intrinsic flaws as in the particular way it has been implemented. Latin America’s economic reforms were undertaken primarily as a result of the perceived economic weaknesses of the region — i.e., there was an attitude of ‘throwing in the towel’ vis-à-vis the previous state-led import substituting industrialisation strategy, because most politicians and economists interpreted the 1982 debt crisis as conclusive evidence that it had led the region into a cul-de-sac. As Hirschman has argued, policymaking has a strong component of ‘path-dependency’; as a result, people often stick with policies after they have achieved their aims, and those policies have become counterproductive. This leads to such frustration and disappointment with existing policies and institutions that is not uncommon to experience a ‘rebound effect’. An extreme example of this phenomenon is post-1982 Latin America, where the core of the discourse of the economic reforms that followed ended up simply emphasising the need to reverse as many aspects of the previous development (and political) strategies as possible. This helps to explain the peculiar set of priorities, the rigidity and the messianic attitude with which the reforms were implemented in Latin America, as well as their poor outcome. Something very different happened in Asia, where economic reforms were often intended (rightly or wrongly) as a more targeted and pragmatic mechanism to overcome specific economic and financial constraints. Instead of implementing reforms as a mechanism to reverse existing industrialisation strategies, in Asia they were put into practice in order to continue and strengthen ambitious processes of industrialisation
