Faces and Places in Fashion: Ira Neimark
Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.Former CEO of Bergdorf Goodman, Ira Neimark describes his career in retailing that started in 1938 as doorman at Bonwit Tellers. At Bergdorf, Neimark transformed the iconic Fifth Avenue department store from an old, dull, expensive and intimidating store, into a young, exciting expensive and intimidating store that became first in luxury and glamour. Among his stunning achievements: the reintroduction of Paris couture in the United States, dramatic showcasing of the great Italian and French designers, developing the best new American designers and elaborate promotional launch events featuring haute couture that lit the spark for Bergdorf s revival. Mr. Neimark refers to a book of memoirs that he had written several years ago and an update he is currently working on

Anna Neimark: Room, mountain, paint, conduit
Architecture Spring 2014 Lecture - March 28, 2014 at Slocum Hall. Neimark, on the faculty of Sci-ARC and co-principal of First Office, will present recent work of the firm. Central to the discussion will be Paranormal Panorama, a room built at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, which was a model at one to one scale that tested the specificities of the construction process as though they were techniques of representation
Estudo da bifurcação de Neimark-Sacker
This dissertation deals with a local bifurcation for planar smooth mappings, depending
on a real parameter, called Neimark-Sacker bifurcation of codimension 1, which, in a
certain sense, shares many similarities with the Hopf bifurcation for ordinary di erential
equations. In both bifurcations, the change in stability of a xed point or equilibrium
point, together with a transversality condition associated with certain eigenvalues of the
Jacobian matrix evaluated at the point, along with one or more nondegeneracy conditions,
allows the appearance or disappearance of an invariant closed curve by the dynamics in the
phase portrait when the parameter is varied. This topic was chosen due to its importance
in the study of discrete dynamical systems and applications in many scienti c areas. In
this sense, the Theorem of Neimark-Sacker Bifurcation of codimension 1 is stated and
proved in the planar case, and applied to the study of two well-known biological models,
namely, the delayed logistic equation and the discrete predator-prey equation.
Some Applications of Bifurcation Formulae to the Period Maps of Delay Differential Equations
Our purpose is to present some applications of the bifurcation formulae derived in [13] for periodic delay differential equations. We prove that a sequence of Neimark-Sacker bifurcations occurs as the parameter increases. For some
special classes of equations, easily checkable conditions are given to determine the direction of the bifurcation of the time-one map
Stability and cycles in a cobweb model with heterogeneous expectations
We investigate the dynamics of a cobweb model with heterogeneous beliefs, generalizing the example of Brock and Hommes (1997). We examine situations where the agents form expectations by using either rational expectations, or a type of adaptive expectations with limited memory defined from the last two prices. We specify conditions that generate cycles. These conditions depend on a set of factors that includes the intensity of switching between beliefs and the adaption parameter. We show that both Flip bifurcation and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation can occur as primary bifurcation when the steady state is unstable.Peer reviewe
Stability and Neimark–Sacker Bifurcation of a Delay Difference Equation
In this paper, we revisit a delay differential equation. By using the semidiscretization method, we derive its discrete model. We mainly deeply dig out a Neimark–Sacker bifurcation of the discrete model. Namely, some results for the existence and stability of Neimark–Sacker bifurcation are derived by using the center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory. Some numerical simulations are also given to validate the existence of the Neimark–Sacker bifurcation derived
Neimark-Sacker Bifurcation in a Discrete-Time Financial System
A discrete-time financial system is proposed by using forward Euler scheme. Based on
explicit Neimark-Sacker bifurcation (also called Hopf bifurcation for map) criterion, normal
form method and center manifold theory, the system's existence, stability and direction of
Neimark-Sacker bifurcation are studied. Numerical simulations are employed to validate the
main results of this work. Some comparison of bifurcation between the discrete-time financial
system and its continuous-time system is given
