Education for multicultural citizens in Indonesia: policies and practices
This paper examines how education in Indonesia can help create
tolerant and multicultural citizens through the analysis of policies
and practices. After the political shift in 1998, Indonesia issued
education law No. 20 in 2003 which contains, though vague, a couple
of articles that can underpin the development and implementation
of multicultural education. This is a ‘spirit’ of multicultural education,
which has been interpreted in subsequent regulations and decrees. In
this paper, the author explores how these policies and school curricula
have been translated into practices. The author conducted a series
of ethnographic fieldwork in two provinces, Yogyakarta and Central
Kalimantan, visiting six different schools: four religious (three Islamic
and one Catholic), one state secular and one state vocational. The
findings suggest that there were inconsistencies between policies and
practices of multicultural education due to a lack of explicit policies
and incapable education decision-makers and teachers
Creating a culture of religious tolerance in an Indonesian school
The author describes the importance of school–family relations in es-
tablishing a culture of religious tolerance among pupils of a state senior secondary
school in the multicultural city of Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.
Palangkaraya is a provincial capital city, and is home to different ethnicities and
religions. In 2001, a massive ethnic riot erupted between the local Dayak and
emigrant Madurese in Sampit, a district in Central Kalimantan province, and
quickly spread to other districts, including Palangkaraya. This conflict was re-
garded as a national tragedy and took hundreds of lives. In this post-conflict
context, the author examines how several related aspects of school – culture,
curriculum and instruction, politics and policies, and school–community rela-
tions – contribute to the school’s efforts to nurture religious tolerance among
students. The data were derived from the author’s ethnographic fieldwork in
2010 employing participant observation, focus group discussions and in-depth
interviews with the principal, teachers and students. The findings suggest that
students have acquired an embodied cultural capital of religious diversity and
tolerance from families and community, and that this has equipped them to help
create a ‘tolerance culture’ in the school, despite the unsupportive school politics
and inconsistent school policies related to religious diversity. On their own initia-
tive and, to a lesser extent, inspired by the formal curriculum, religion teachers
play a pivotal role in shaping students’ understanding of religious diversity and
tolerance through deliberate teaching about some aspects of other religions
Marriageable Age In Between Al-Qurthubî And Wahbah Al-Zuhailî Interpetation
A person's readiness for marriage is seen from physical and non-physical
aspects. Bâligh is physical sign. Meanwhile, non-physical aspects are
psychological, social, and economic. Besides, Islamic law also provides guidances
about the worthiness for marriage in the Qur’an and hadits. No verse clearly
explains the the worthiness age for marriage, but the Qur'an hints at this
eligibility in several verses. In this research, the author will explore the
interpretations of two mufassirs who are famous for their style of fiqh, they are
Al-Qurthubî in his work Tafsîr al-Jâmi' li Ahkâm al-Qur'an and Wahbah alZuhailî in the book al-Tafsîr al-Munîr.
This research uses a comparative method by comparing interpretations of
verses in the Qur’an in their books, then analyzing similarities and differences,
and then exploring the factors causing the differences. This research is included in
library research and will produce qualitative descriptive research.
The main verses used in this research are Q.S. Al-Nisâ` verse 6, then
another verses Q.S. Al-Nûr verses 32-33 and verse 59, Q.S. Al-An'âm verse 152,
Q.S. Al-Hajj verse 5 and Q.S. Yûsuf verse 22. The point of similarity between the
interpretations of al-Qurthubî and Wahbah al-Zuhailî is the physical condition,
they characterized it by menstruation for women and nocturnal emission for men.
Meanwhile, the differences found in the interpretation of these two figures are in
non-physical aspects. Al-Qurthubî only discussed a glance of non-physical aspects
and not even including to the main aspects. Meanwhile, al-Zuhailî's interpretation
includes other aspects, such as psychological maturity, and considers it from the
legal and socio-economic aspects that were applied at that time. This condition
occurs because the difference in the classical and contemporary eras influenced
their interpretation. Al-Zuhaili uses the contextual interpretation when he
interprets the verses while al-Qurthubî does not use i

Functionalist approaches consider the adaptive value and underlying mechanisms of behaviour as separate but complementary questions, avoiding the conflation of ultimate and proximate explanations that has long hindered research on teaching and other forms of cooperation.Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC

PEMANFAATAN MUSIK BUATAN AI MELALUI DEEPFAKE: STUDI HUKUM KOMPARATIF INDONESIA DAN AMERIKA SERIKAT
The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has enabled the creation of music through deepfake methods that realistically mimic the voice, style, and characteristics of artists without their involvement or consent. While this innovation brings new possibilities to the music industry, it also raises significant legal issues, particularly regarding the recognition of AI as an author, the legal protection of AI-generated musical works, and the potential infringement of the original creator’s economic and moral rights. This study aims to examine the legal status and protection of musical works produced by AI using deepfake techniques under Indonesian Law No. 28 of 2014 on Copyright, and to compare it with the legal system of the United States. This research employs a normative juridical method, combining a descriptive-analytical and comparative law approach, with a focus on secondary data derived from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources. The findings show that neither Indonesia nor the United States currently recognizes AI as a creator. Copyright protection is only granted if there is a significant human contribution to the creation process. However, Indonesia lacks specific regulations addressing AI, deepfake technology, or objective standards to assess originality and the threshold of similarity, which creates legal uncertainty in enforcing copyright law for AI-generated music
