Wyższe stężenie betatrofiny u chorych z nowo rozpoznaną cukrzycą
No full textWstęp. Betatrofina jest produkowana głównie w wątrobie i reguluje metabolizm triglicerydów. Podwyższone stężenie betatrofiny może być związane ze zwiększonym ryzykiem rozwoju cukrzycy typu 2. Celem niniejszej pracy była ocena wpływu betatrofiny na funkcję komórek beta trzustki i porównanie jej stężeń u chorych z nowo rozpoznaną cukrzycą typu 1 (T1DM; w tym LADA), typu 2 (T2DM) oraz w grupie kontrolnej. Metody. Do badania włączono 210 chorych z nowo rozpoznaną cukrzycą (70 — T1DM, 140 — T2DM) oraz 70 osób stanowiących grupę kontrolną. W celu oceny związku pomiędzy stężeniem betatrofiny a wydzielaniem insuliny wykonywano test z glukagonem. Wyniki. Stężenia betatrofiny były istotnie statystycznie wyższe w grupie T1DM i T2DM w porównaniu z grupą kontrolną [T1DM vs. grupa kontrolna: odpowiednio 3,47 (Q1 = 2,28; Q3 = 4,54) vs. 1,81 (Q1 = 1,04; Q3 = 2,67) ng/ml; p < 0,001; T2DM vs. grupa kontrolna: odpowiednio 3,12 (Q1 = 1,89; Q3 = 4,48) vs. 1,81 (Q1 = 1,04; Q3 = 2,67) ng/ml; p < 0,001]. Nie stwierdzono istotnych statystycznie różnic w stężeniach betatrofiny pomiędzy T1DM a T2DM. Betatrofina korelowała istotnie statystycznie ze stężeniem triglicerydów (TG) i lipoprotein wysokiej gęstości (HDL) w całej badanej grupie oraz ze stężeniem peptydu C w grupie T1DM. Wnioski. Stężenie betatrofiny jest istotnie wyższe u chorych z nowo rozpoznaną T1DM i T2DM w porównaniu z grupą kontrolną i prawdopodobnie może być biomarkerem cukrzycy. Nasze badanie potwierdza istotny wpływ betatrofiny na metabolizm lipidów. Dodatnia korelacja betatrofiny z peptydem C w grupie T1DM sugeruje, że betatrofina jest związana z wydzielaniem insuliny w T1DM

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDFStandardy medyczne stają się ogólnie przyjętą strategią praktyki lekarskiej.
Mają one na celu pomoc w optymalizacji leczenia. Określają
także minimum procesu diagnostyczno-terapeutycznego. Celem leczenia
padaczki jest pomoc choremu w uzyskaniu zadowalającego
dostosowania się do wymogów życia. W szczególności chodzi
o ustąpienie bądź zmniejszenie częstości napadów, zmniejszenie ich
ciężkości, zapobieganie nawrotom oraz uzyskanie dobrego efektu
terapeutycznego przy jak najmniejszych objawach toksycznych.
Wybór leku przeciwpadaczkowego dla określonej postaci napadów
padaczkowych nie jest łatwy. Nie ma bowiem dobrych badań porównawczych
na temat stosowania określonych leków w różnych postaciach
klinicznych napadów. Zatem porównanie toksyczności leków
jest głównym czynnikiem wpływającym na wybór leku pierwszego
rzutu. Napady padaczkowe u około 70–75% chorych są dobrze kontrolowane
jednym lekiem. Pozostałe 20–25% chorych należy do grupy
opornych na leczenie, to znaczy wymagają stosowania więcej niż
jednego leku. W ciągu ostatnich kilku lat na rynek polski wprowadzono
wiele nowych leków przeciwpadaczkowych. Idealny lek przeciwpadaczkowy
powinien się cechować szerokim spektrum terapeutycznym,
a jednocześnie — być wolnym od działań niepożądanych
i teratogennych, łatwym do monitorowania i niewchodzącym w interakcje
z innymi lekami. Nowe leki nie spełniają wszystkich tych
właściwości idealnego leku, niemniej jednak ostatnie badania wykazują pewną ich przewagę w stosunku do leków starszej generacji.
Coraz większego znaczenia nabiera leczenie oparte na dowodach.

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
