Struttura del discorso negli apprendenti italofoni di russo: analisi testuale comparata russo-italiano

    No full text
This article presents the results of a discourse analysis of Russian-learning texts by italophones. The discourse structure was examined from the point of view of the preferences for discourse relations on various acquisitional stages and from the point of view of hierarchization. Further- more the grade of repartition of situations and the grade of the discourse structures complexity were analysed, allowing us thus to characterize the textuality of the considered acquisitional varieties compared to the native Russian and Italian

Complessità della gerarchizzazione sintattica in L2: confronto fra il russo degli apprendenti italofoni e quello dei parlanti nativi

It is commonly held that second language learners start with quite primitive syntactic structures and then gradually approximate their syntax to the target language norm. Some functional approaches to SLA consider the whole acquisitional process to be a consecutive “syntactization”, when learners pass from the pragmatic mode to the syntactic mode. I decided to verify if this works when the learners’ native language is more hypotactic than their second language, so I created a bilingual corpus of written descriptions of seven episodes of a mute film “Modern Times” which comprehends productions in Russian L2 of italophones, Italian L1 (more hypotactic) and Russian L1 (less hypotactic), and I analyzed the complexity of macro-syntactic hierarchies used in the corpus. So in this article I will describe the observed data and I will demonstrate that the level of complexity of macro-syntactic hierarchies used by Italians when speaking Russian L2 even on beginner stages of acquisition is superior to the complexity of Russian L1 macro-syntactic hierarchies. So I will argue that regarding syntactic complexity the explicative hypothesis of the influence of mother tongue is much more valid than the one of a still immature competence in second language

Resistenza all’acquisizione della struttura del discorso e della gerarchizzazione sintattica in un corpus acquisizionale italo-russo

In this paper we present some statistics data regarding the preferential choices of native speakers of Russian and Italian and of Italian speakers of Russian with respect to the discourse structure and syntactic hierarchy. The research was conducted on the material of an original acquisition corpus, and has demonstrated that the discourse level is more resistant to the acquisition of the second language norms than the macro-syntactic level

Preferenze per il rango del predicato nelle subordinate in russo L2 e universali tipologici

The hypothesis that ontogenesis follows phylogenesis was proposed with regard to the relationship between language acquisition and linguistic typology. As a means of verification, typological universals have been compared with patterns of acquisition. In this article, I will assess the validity of the proposed hypothesis within my corpus of adult second language acquisition and the phenomenon of predicate deranking. First, I will examine the two morphological strategies of subordination expression: balancing and deranking. Balancing keeps the rank of the predicate of the subordinated clause high and deranking lowers it. I will, then, review the typological implicational universals of predicate deranking, which requires functional definitions of subordination and sub- ordination types, applicable to any language and to the learner varieties. Consequently, the typological deranking hierarchies for each type of subordinate clause will be ex- posed. Finally, I will present the patterns of the deranking acquisition order observed in my corpus of written descriptions of several episodes of a mute film in Russian L2, spoken by italophones. I will, thereby, suggest an analysis of the extent to which the typological universals match the patterns of acquisition in the examined case

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
