During the assembly, grade seven students participated in such activities as walking races and wheelbarrow races, and wheelbarrow races. Mrs. West, Mrs. Jones, and several grade seven students put on a variety program. Also during the assembly, Mr. Hagel was presented with a tray in appreciation of his work with junior high in the past. "Welcome Back Day" was a large success and was enjoyed by everyone. 1 1 AWARDS NIGHT Among those receiving recognition at W.R. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE This is not the president's message I wanted to print. The president's message I wanted to print was to my fellow graduates ... a kind of "take care of yourself, ya hear". But then the editors of this book didn't want that as a president's message. "Tell us what council is going to do this year", they said. So even though this is really the editors' message I'm still president and I'm writing it, so it's a president's message (I think). Although we've got some objectives, one dance per month, and graduation, we can hardly say that will happen, mainly because we don't know what the students want to do. Our purpose after all, is to serve the students and hopefully make them say thirty years from now, "Yup, old Myers School was a pretty good place back in 77-78". So, that's my president's - editors' - president's message. Don't look for a sequel. Tom Gillespie P.S. "Take care of yourself, ya hear." 14 JR. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE JUNIOR PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE We, the junior council, are responsible for giving the students an enjoyable school year. Arranging social activities, dress-up days, and assemblies is mostly on our hands. We, however, can only produce these activities; you, the students and teachers, must take part. Having a good year means participation by both students and teachers. Activities such as dances, basketball games, and other sports may seem only for the benefit of the students, but are for the teachers as well. Dress-up days include both teachers and students to develop our school spirit. As you can see, one of our major goals is to unite the students and teachers through various activities. We believe if the teachers and students can be together socially, they can get along better in school, and have a happier and more rewarding school year. Tracy Kanomata Back Row, L. to R.: S. Throughout the year games were played against Barnwell, Grassy Lake, and St. Mary's and at the end of the league, Myers and Barnwell were tied for first place. To conclude the season, an invitational tournament was held. Here, Myers advanced to the finals but were defeated. The team was coached by Mrs. T. Malensky. 43 This Year, the Trotters competed in a Southern 3A Basketball League. The team had a record of 3 wins and 7 losses in this new league, which involves teams from Medicine Hat, Coaldale, and Brooks. The Trotters also attended a tourney at McCoy High School in Medicine Hat, where they captured the consolation prize. Our coach, Mr. Anderson, gave us encouragement when we needed it and by the end of the season, everyone had improved tremendously. We won more than half of our games and consistently gave our opponents a good fight. Next year promises to be an even better season for the W.R. Myers Saints. Come and support your team! The 1978 season was a rebuilding year as there were only two grade 9 boys on the squad. We are optimistic about a strong team for next year. Sponsored by: Tower Theatre This year, Myers' junior girls' basketball team was coached by Mrs. Malinsky. The team competed with Barnwell, St. Mary's and Grassy Lake during league play and finished with a 4 win, 2 loss record. At an exhibition game, the girls played against Raymond, Brooks, and emerged victorious. In Myers' Invitational tourney, which included teams from Raymond, Brooks, and St. Mary's, our team captured third place and Peggy Williams was awarded "Most Valuable Player". At the Jr. High Divisional Tourney, Myers finally beat Barnwell (the team that they had previously lost 2 games to) to become the Divisional Champs for 1978. Myers' Ski Club enjoyed a very successful year this season, with an increase in members to 47, and SNOW in the mountains for a change. The club kicked off its season with fund raising campaigns in the fall. It ran a concession for the post-season volleyball tourney, catered to a staff luncheon, and held a bake sale. As we decided to go in style this year, we said "No" to the Community Club bus and travelled via Greyhound to Fernie in December and January for one day trips. We wound up the season with a super weekend trip to Kimberley and Fernie in March. Highlights of the year: - Mr. C. got his new poles ripped off in Kimberly. - Allan Mills "Man, this trip was a slice! ! " - Craig Martens at top of Bear: "You've gotta be kidding! !" - John Lothian after he fell and twisted his ankle: Awx! ! ??x! ! Though large in number the club is not, its members have a great deal of fun and at the same time, learn a thing or two. The goal is not necessarily to develop skills for competition but rather to develop strength and muscle tone while at the same time achieving gymnastic proficiency. At the annual talent night, the club demonstrated its capabilities by performing on the parallel bars. The club operated from December to April this year, and will do the same next year, hopefully with a few more members. F. R., L. to R.: C. Nishima, T. Kanamata, J. Hooge, C. Maruyama, J. Under the guidance of Chuck Wallace and Ken Lawson, the group enjoyed many hours of intense competition every Monday and Wednesday night. KTIV REACH FOR THE TOP After several weeks of arduous practice, our team took part in the Southern Zone Playoffs held in Lethbridge on February 3 and 4. Once again our Reach for the Top team did our school proud as they defeated teams from Winston Churchill andL.C.I. before being edged out by Coaldale in the finals. CHILDREN S THEATER The success or failure of any drama class is directly related to the attitude of the enrolled students. They must be enthusiastic about the activities and be willing to work co-operatively. This year's classes were of very high caliber because the students were receptive to the precept that; "You only get out of a drama class what you put into it. " Their enthusiasm provided the kind of atmosphere in which creativity flourished. The pictures on this page were taken during a performance at St. Mary's kindergarten. Myers drama students have entertained hundreds of young students over the past several years. Prospective students often ask the question, "Will we be doing Children's Theater?" before deciding to to enroll in the class or not. This attests to the popularity of this kind of performance. Two Myers drama students, Harvey Tams and Colleen Arnett entered drama competitions in Taber and Edmonton. Harvey took first place in local competition and both competitors received high praise from the adjudicators in Edmonton. It was a good year! 62 ACTIVITIES JR. HIGH BAND AND CHORUS The Junior High C

Grade 12’s really show their spirit at the pep rallies. The experts say . . . Look it’s the stay puff marshmallow man. (Jamie White) And the golden question is, “A, B, or C?” 7 MYERS STUDENTS PAINT A PICTURE OF FUN As they let their true colors (red and gold) show through. What is “The Art of Fun”? If you were to ask any one of our students, past or present, they would all answer W.R. Myers is the art of fun. Myers school spirit and loyalty always shines through on our annual Fun Day at the park. The grades compete against one another in a medley of fast-paced events ranging from the “Ghetto Van Cram” to the true test of inferiority, “War Games”, and even included a giant water fight to end the annual episode. The day was dedicated to our bold football team, but that didn’t mean they were the only ones having a blast. The Grade 12’s swept the days’ events and won the school flag which is a most prestigious event. Participation was great from all ends. The Grade 9’s were naturally a bit shy but soon got into the swing of things just in time to give the higher grades a run for their money in the final events. All-in-all, everyone, staff and students alike, will leave Myer’s knowing that the true “Art of Fun” is not a picture, object or skill, but a feeling of common bonding and pride like the school spirit that thrives at Myers. 8 These pages are dedicated to the students of W.R. Myers for without them there would be no student life. Student life means different things to different people. To some, it is sneeking down to the cafeteria to grab a quick snack, while to others it’s sleeping on the student couch during spare time. Whatever it is, it’s become an important part of every school day. It gives W.R. Myers character so as we look back at our years here we will have more to remember than tests and essays. We will also remember that this was the year we made student life into “A Work of Art”. Clockwise: Deanna Bullock, Rachel Grant, Tammy Evanson, and Marsha Johnson model the Volleyball Provincial shirts. Kim Hanke expresses the sign of peace. Mark Anderson shows his school spirit. Bottom Right: Brad’s true self is revealed! 12 Our first dance of the year was on Friday, September 13. It was a great success and was the first dance at Myers to include Grade 9 and the new “no shoes” policy. This regulation was installed because the gym floor was recently refinished. Therefore, it was nick-named the Barefoot Bash. The Hallowe’en dance was also a lot of fun for the students and many of them dressed up. Our music and D.J. for the dances at Myers are supplied by Evan How. He brings in his own system and helps make our dances the big successes they are. Clockwise from Top Left: Coralee Kunz and Gina Belcastro; the Phantom of the Opera and sidekick teddy; Melanie, is that you under all that green? Our own little stockpile of shoes; and, of course, the couple of the evening: Mr. and Mrs. Grotesque — they don’t get out much. 13 This year our annual Christmas Formal was held at the Civic Center here in Taber. Besides Myers, Grassy Lake, Vauxhall, Hays, and Enchant were invited. Coats were checked in at the door and we even got to keep our shoes on. A live band, The Peace Dogs, was hired from Calgary. The music was loud and heavy. Some appreciated that more than others. While we were in our silks and tuxes, they wore ripped jeans and spandex. Clockwise from Top Left: The only Santa that showed up at the dance? Are you having fun yet, Kami? Mike, what are you hiding under the table? Shirley, Rachelle, and Pam at their best. Dawn, what are you drinking? 14 * November 23 and 24, 1990 heralded a momentous occasion for the students and staff of W.R. Myers High School. For only the second time ever, we hosted the 3A PROVINCIAL boys volleyball championships. Any time a school hosts a provincial championship of any kind, it provides the school with a tremendous opportunity to showcase its student spirit, staff involvement and school team expertise. We had that opportunity at this event and exhibited, in all areas, a school that we can be proud of. Our tournament chairman is a former staff member and a dynamic individual, Ms. Debbie Sargeant. Debbie is an organizer extraordinaire, and the success of the tournament was due in large part to her super effort. Our staff got involved in the logistics of such a major undertaking right down to the last person. They were enthusiastic, supportive, and showed a pride in our school that only good staffs can demonstrate. They were also a significant reason why this event was such a success. Our student body supported the tournament and our team for the week leading up to and the days of the Provincial. They came in numbers, made more noise than I’ve heard at a volleyball match in this school in a long time, and were a major reason why I felt so satisfied along with my players at the end of the tournament. Our team came to play this weekend. They played their best ball in 3 years, of what was for all of them, their graduation year. They played in the best matches of the tournament, and provided every team they played with their toughest competition. The final results were as follows: Round Robin: First: Second: Semi-Finals: Pool A Myers High School Drumheller Pool B Fort McMurray Wetaskiwin Wetaskiwin 2, Myers 1 Drumheller 2, Fort McMurray 0 Bronze Medal Match: Myers 2, Fort McMurray 0 Gold Medal Match: Wetaskiwin 2, Drumheller 0 I have coached volleyball at Myers for 16 years, and this Provincial ranks as one of the best, if not THE best of them all, due in no small part to the great support from everyone from fans to committee members. Provincials is a prestigious event, and we pulled it off with flying colours. From Top to Bottom: Our Myers Provincial Volleyball team. Wetaskiwin, the 1st place team. Cory Nelson gets spirit going in the stands. Drumheller, the 2nd place team. Back Row, Left to Right: Wendy Harris, Jennifer Burgess, Michelle Fournier, Melissa Fraser, Sandra Reti, Chad Gough Front: Gordie Schneider, Denise Mikalson, Ryan Hendricks Missing: Dave Larson, Lisa McNamara This year we did not pick the theme “A Work of Art” solely to give credit to Myers talented artists, but also because art can reflect the 1991 school year at Myers. Any work of art is a skilled composition filled with color, brilliance, vitality, and a splash of the unexpected. At Myers you’ll find that everyday and each activity is filled with all sorts of flare and energy. We as editors hope you appreciate these elements and reflect upon them. We would like to extend our appreciation to Jim Saunders, Brandon Bly, Dave Shritt, and all members of the Journalism class for making this year “A Work of Art.” A^^U^^ 16 CLU0S organisationsI found it a great pleasure to be president of the Students’ Council. We found it to be a big responsibility to fulfill our commitment to the students. We had good times and some heated arguments. A special thanks to Mr. Gammon who was always there for advice whenever we needed it. I would like to thank all the teachers and students that helped us out during the year. Have a great time in high school in ’91-92, and good luck to Marty and next year’s Student Council. Despite starting off with a new team of advisors, we feel Key Club is in a stage of growth and renewal. We increased our size and started to increase awareness of Key Club throughout the school. All of our members did a terrific job, most of whom donated upwards of 50 hours of their time to do voluntary fund raising and community service. This year was our thirty-seventh anniversary; and, thanks to the great support from members and advisors, we made it a success. 19 MYERS MUSIC The 1990-1991 year was an exciting year for the W.R. Myers Music Program. The Myers Music Association purchased 45,000 in new equipment. This new equipment replaced old and damaged equipment that was used by the program. This year also saw the band tour California during the Easter break. The band performed at Disneyland and the Disneyland Hotel as guests of the Disney Corporation. They also appeared at Pasedana High School as guests of their Music Department. These arc but a few of the many appearances by the group. W.R. Myers Music Program wish to thank the Music Association for their strong support. It was decided that this year’s celebration would encompass two days: a senior dinner and dance on May 24 and a cap and gown ceremony on June 26, after the last exam. These events both required the committee to meet once a week to make decisions on a variety of things such theme, music, invitations, decorations, etc. All of this takes time, patience and commitment. We would like to thank the graduating class for their support in the new format and wish next year’s committee good luck. We went to Medicine Hat to a three-school conference to get our ideas. We then had our meetings. We had many ideas proposed for the year; however, only a few were carried out. We had a starve-a-thon on January 18-19 to raise money. We gave certificates to Checkstop to give to people who were caught not drinking and driving. We also entered a float in the parade. There were many displays present including those of various groups and individuals. An industrial arts class had a display and a Book Fair was present in which anyone could adopt a book and donate it to the W.R. Myers Library. Some of the students from Art classes 10, 20, and 30 had art for sale. No matter what your taste in art, you were bound to find it among the many different pieces of work done by these students. A talent show ranged from a “Salute to the Troops” dance (Sharia Nishida, Lisa Smith, Larissa Collett and Kim Hart) to vocal selections (Becki Gough and Angela Jensen) to an acting solo from Thornton Wilder (Darcea Murphy). Also displaying their talents were Cara Garrett with an oral interpretation, Joseph Anderson on the piano, and Kent Pryor with a clarinet solo. As incentive to attend the art show, a $100 door prize was offered to students who attended. Patricia Wright was the lucky winner of the evening. This season the team finished in second place in the Tier IH division of the Southern Alberta High School Football League. The team’s season was highlighted by victories over St. Mary’s, Kate Andrews, and High River, as well as a close loss to Winston Churchill. In playoff’s, the Rebels soundly defeated St. Mary’s again before losing a hard fought game to Raymond in the league’s Tier III final. Raymond, as well as Cardston, and L.C.I., went on from the league to win provincial championships in their respective tiers. Another highlight for the team was the selection of Jeff Thurston as a league all-star at the defensive tackle position. Jeff also won an honorable mention on offensive line along with Jared Bly (defensive back), Ryan Buck (running back and linebacker), and Randy Oliver (receiver). Throughout the season, the Rebels continued to improve and to mature with experience. Many key roles were played by returning players and it appears the Rebels will be back in contention next year. This year’s team also sees the graduation of many players whose leadership and examples will be missed. Joining the coaching staff this year was Wayne Pallett. His experience was welcomed by the returning staff of Chip Koop, Keith Williams, and Darwin “Top Dog” Lund. The team started out with several wins over their league opponents but, halfway through the season, were met with a number of defeats. Despite the downs, the girls continued to improve their skills and maintain their enthusiasm. Because of their consistent efforts, they had more victories at the end of the season. Several of the Grade 9 and 10 players also played on the senior team. The seniors had a very busy schedule. Like the juniors, the seniors practiced every day from the end of August to the beginning of November. Besides playing in league games every Tuesday, the team competed in tournaments every weekend throughout the season. Although the girls competed well in tournaments, they never placed first. With regard to the zone playoffs in Cardston, the team came close to defeating McCoy High School from Medicine Hat in the semi-finals; McCoy ended up going to provincials. The senior team will be losing five players since they will be graduating. We coaches and the remaining players wish these people all the best. Those who will be coming back should form a strong base for next year’s team. FROM THE TOP . . MYERS VOLLEYBALL B STRAIGHT Back Row: Coach Del Cleland. The seven players that constituted this year’s team were what remained of the 12 players that started in Grade 9. Making this team competitive has not been easy; they are an odd combination of talent and mental attitude, but the team all stuck it out. Our team became consistent, focused, and it all paid off in a provincial bronze medal. I remember walking in with the team at the opening ceremonies in front of our own school; the frustration of our first game; beating Drumheller in a two-hour match; the tightest game the team played during the semis against Wetaskiwin; re-grouping to easily win against Fort McMurray for the bronze; and hearing about all the fun the team had at the post-season party. Competitive athletics teaches you a lot about yourself, whether you know it or not. Each and every one of the players will go down on my list as individuals who learned from me and taught me at the same time. As a coach, I thank you for your dedication to my ideals and your commitment to finish what you started. It's easy to believe that the rich and famous are born well...rich and famous. Not so! On the way to being famous...Gwen Stefani worked at Dairy Queen, Madonna was fired from Dunkin' Donuts, Brad Pitt handed out flyers wearing a chicken suit for El Polio Loco, Rachel McAdams was a server at McDonald's and Beyonce was swept up hair in her mother's salon. There are jobs you will have before you 'make it' too. Some you will enjoy. And some - not so much. On my way to becoming a teacher I was a waiter, a landscaper, a tree planter, and a bartender. Some of these jobs I liked and some I hated. But ALL of these jobs brought me to the profession I love and shaped who I have become. At W.R. Myers High School we are proud of being a school where every student can find an avenue for success and in being part of a community where everyone in the Rebel family strives to find the best in themselves and others. As Christian Larson said, "Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle." Remember that you are the star of your own life and that, with hard work, your dreams will become reality! Take care, Ken Pon Principal Wow! What a year! I chose "REBEL RESILIENCE" as the yearbook theme this year as I thought it was rather fitting given our current 'COVID-1 9' situation. Some of you are already VERY RESILIENT, while others may feel like you are not. One thing is for sure - you can always WORK on becoming MORE resilient. Here are 10 ways you can work on becoming more resilient: Have the courage to be imperfect Take time for yourself Sign up for that course, join that club Be active every day in as many ways as you can Spend time with people who make you feel good Laugh out loud each day Invite your neighbor (friend) over for a cup of tea (chat) Do one thing now that you've been putting off Focus more on things you can control Remember, this too shall pass (~https://wayahead.org.au/get-the-facts/building-resilience/) Thank you to all those who gave me a big smile (or at least didn't run away) when I put the camera in front of your face! I apologize to those teams I missed getting photos of (that actually had the opportunity to play). Because this year is unlike any other, I also decided to change up the color scheme from the traditional red/black/yellow! I would love some feedback on this decision (love it/dislike it etc). A huge shout-out to a stellar group of grade 9's who helped me with the yearbook in June (Madisen and Bryden O'Connor, Kiernan Gyepesi, Will Evanson, Madison Reid, Heston Bevans and Allen Clements). Thank you specifically to Bryden O'Connor for creating the color graphic used throughout the yearbook. Some of the quotes found through out the yearbook were from the survey you filled out in the spring, which in, most cases, does not have the author information and therefore simply states the grade level the quote came from. All other quotes with Author Unknown" were found online and in most cases didn't have any author information either. In any case, my hope is that they will either put a smile on your face, make you go 'hmm' or possibly even take time to pause and reflect on the message being shared. But very thankfully, and in true Rebel Spirit, we made the most of the situation and were able to organize and provide our student-athletes with a few opportunities to participate in sport. The Rebels made teams and practiced as much as they possibly could in football, volleyball, cross-country, golf, basketball, and curling. Unfortunately, a few of our traditional sports were not able to get off the ground in the Spring, but hopefully that will only fuel the fire of the up and coming athletes for next season! We want to give a big thanks to all those student-athletes and coaches who committed to one or more of our teams during these tough, unprecedented circumstances, and a special shout out to all the Grade 1 2 student-athletes for all of their years of dedication to High School Sport! This year we had 44 individual families and businesses provide financial support....this is FANTASTIC!!!! Our Academic Awards Night, held Nov 1st, 2018, was a huge success again this year. We invited 102 students to be recipients of the awards. This is about 1/3 of our total student population. We have a lot of great students all striving for excellence! We had our ups and downs but each athlete contributed to the development of our team. This work ethic showed in the massive season of growth, competing with the top 4 teams in our Southern Alberta League. We finished the season 29-21-1 match record. It was a pleasure to coach this group of athletes. I wish the graduating 12 players all the best in their future endeavors. You are always welcome to come back and help cheer on our future Rebels. This meant that Remembrance Day ceremonies needed some creative thinking. So, thanks to the video wizardry of Sam Bennett, we composed a video that was played simultaneously in each classroom. Students contributed poetry and readings that helped to express our appreciation for the service of those who have fought and died on our behalf. This year was special in that we were able to have a recent veteran of the Afghanistan War as a PSIII teacher. Mr. Ginther shared his personal experience of the war and reminded us of the importance of our freedom. Brent Ginther was an intern teacher with AAr. Bennett this past year. AAr, Ginther is an injured war veteran. He shared his military experience during a remembrance day ceremony where students learned that he was shot in the legs during active duty in Afghanistan. We are grateful for AAr. Ginther and his service in the military where he helped make the world a safer place to live ANGELfpf- Our student council partnered with our counselling department in a fabuous fundraising/gift giving opportunity. Angel Tree provided students with the ability to donate money or purchase a gift for struggling families in our community. After raising some $400+ dollars student council headed out to our local Walmart to purchase the gifts for these families. T'is the Season! Christmas ccleb'ations hod to be scaled back this year due to no gymnasium. But a great pancake breakfast and a few games of Kahoot was enjoyed by all the students who came out to participate! Signs WrM W.R. Myers had two curling teams this year and were coached by Andrea Makarchuk. A Boys Team (Konnor Unser-skip, Brady Swistin-third, Rylan Milo-second and Rylan Cetinski-lead) and a Girls Team (Alanna Makarchuk-skip, Jordyn Clarke-third, Jessi Young-second and Ashleigh Little-lead). Both teams had to qualify from divisionals. The Boys won the round robin against St. Mary's and Vauxhall but lost in the finals. Fortunately, our division was able to send two teams. The Girls won against St. Mary's to go to zones. At zones, the Boys qualified to the semi finals and to the bronze medal game, where they lost again to Vauxhall. The Girls at zones went on to the gold medal game against Vulcan and won the banner. The Girls team went to Provincials in St. Paul where the games did not go as well as the team would have liked. They went 0-4 in the round robin. But were amazing representatives of W.R. We kept improving as the season went on finishing second in league. We finished 2nd in the Cardston tournament and won our next 2 tournaments. We lost to Barnwell in the division final. We then finished 6th at 4J zones. Our team consisted of 7 grade 9's and 3 grade 8's. Myers students spent Valentine's Day skiing at Castle Mountair The weather was freezing in Taber that morning, but it was fantastic at the hill, so our students were able to spend a lot of time on the slopes. Conditions were very good for both the skie and the snowboarders. Mr Bowes and Mr Pritchard knocked some of the rust off by getting a quite a few runs in, and Mrs McClelland brought back memories of the Crazy Canucks. We tried to get a picture of her in action, but she was just too spee All in all, it was a very fun day for students and staff on the hill een Shirt April 6, 2018 is a day that hit many families quite hard. On that day, a bus transporting the Humboldt Broncos en route to Nipawin, Saskatchewan, was struck by a semi tractor trailer unit. On April 7th, Logan Boulet of Lethbridge succumbed to injuries sustained in this crash. Logan had been inspired by his rugby coach and family friend to become an organ donor. He made his wishes known to his family, and they followed through with his directions upon his passing. This story became a much-needed beacon of hope and positivity in such a bleak and tragic situation. It has been well-documented how organ donation rates have increased dramatically in the wake of Logan and the Boulet family’s selfless act. The LGBT+ students of W.R. Myers, and their allies that support them are fortunate to have the resources and the space to be proudly and unashamed to be out, and to find support within the members of the community. The world is often a scary place to navigate for young adults trying to Sure out who they are. Especially for those who are LGBT, J are questioning. GSA’s provide the opportunity for expression and fellowship in a safe environment for these young adults, and provide resources to aid them in their journey of self-discovery. GSA takes place on Mondays during APV in the councilors office, if you would like to know more please visit one of the councilors for more details. -Kayden Klok, GSA president 41 On April 7, 2019, to mark a year since Logan s passing, WR Myers participated in Green Shirt Day. We took time to pause and reflect, and to celebrate the gifts of life that were made possible through Logan’s decision. It is the Boulet family's wish that people have the conversation about organ donation. We support their wish. STUDENT POLLS ALIGN WITH PROVINCIAL RESULTS The provincial election in the second semester gave the Social Studies teachers a chance to engage students in their civic duty as future voters. We were able to successfully organize a full candidates forum using the Central Gym. Taber high schools were invited to attend and some almost 400 students were treated to some lively debate on the hot current issues. The candidates answered questions on LGBTO* rights, minimum wage, education funding which were asked by students from W.R. Myers. The debate was followed up with a vote simulation that allowed students to vote on the same candidates that their parents voted on. We partnered with Student Vote Canada and had some interesting results United Conservative 181 Alberta Party 63 Liberals 18 New Democrat Party 3. One of the highlights was being able to help some of our 18 year old students to officially vote for the first time. CONCERT AND STAGE BAND EXCELLENCE The Band had another busy year. They began the year with the stage band performing at Clearview Lodge and the Town of Taber s Remembrance Day Ceremony. Ryland Baker performed Last Post. Then both the stage and concert band's performed at Dr. Hamman Elementary School. With our gym not being available due to renovations, all concerts were performed at the Civic Center or at Central School. Both bands did a great job at the Christmas Concert. This year the band had Global Drums as their special guests for the Music of the Night Concert. In April, the bands went to Sun Peaks, British Columbia for their band trip. They performed in Salmon Arm, Kamloops and at the Cantando Festival. The Concert band received a bronze and the stage band a silver. Once again, concert band performed at Graduation and the stage band helped to celebrated senior's week at Clearview Lodge. And the year was finished with a fantastic year end concert! This year's band student of the year was Jordyn Clarke. FLUTE QUARTET INVITED TO PERFORM AT FESTIVAL OF THE STARS Brooklynn Bennett, Beth Nelson, Emily Carver and Aleah Warkentin performed at the Lethbridge Speech and Arts Festival. They won their class and were invited to perform at the Festival Stars concert. In April, the bands went to Sun Peaks, British Columbia for their band trip. They performed in Salmon Arm, Kamloops and at the Cantando Festival. The Concert band received a bronze and the stage band a silver.
