Le nozioni di "determinazione" e "definitezza": considerazioni sull'espressione della definitezza / indefinitezza in arabo letterario.

    No full text
After introducing some general notions (compatibility, hierarchy, expansion, determination, definiteness) according to André Martinet's functionalist approach, this article focuses on the expression of definiteness and indefiniteness in literary Arabic. To this aim, the presence / absence of the tanwīn is analyzed taking into account the various declensions of the name and some specific cases: proper nouns, vocative, categorical negation lā. As already suggested in a previous study by J. Retsö, tanwīn turns out not to be the moneme of indefiniteness, but a pure morphological marker

Role of Lanthanides in the Traceability of the Milk Production Chain

The traceability and authentication of milk were studied using trace and ultratrace elements as chemical markers. Among these variables, the group of lanthanides resulted in being particularly useful for this purpose as a result of their homogeneous distribution inside milk, which showed on the contrary to be intrinsically inhomogeneous from the elemental point of view. Using in this pilot study milk samples from a factory in Piedmont (Italy), we demonstrated that the distribution of lanthanides can be used as a fingerprint to put into relation the soil of the pasture land on which cows graze and the bottled milk produced in the factory. In fact, the distribution is maintained nearly unaltered along the production chain of milk, apart from the passage into the stomachs of the cows. Using the same variables, it was possible to discriminate between milk produced in the factory and milk samples taken from the large-scale retail trade

A preliminary study on the authentication and traceability of extra virgin olive oil made from Taggiasca olives by means of trace and ultra-trace elements distribution

Extra virgin olive oil (EVO) is among the most counterfeit foodstuffs in the present market. The Italian production is with no doubt one of the most valuable and therefore mostly counterfeit, due to the difficulty in checking the geographic provenance of olives. In order to provide a way for verifying the provenance of EVO, the role of microelements and, in particular, of lanthanides in the oil production chain has been studied. The distribution of lanthanides as determined by means of ICP-MS analysis appeared to provide a good tool for tracing the EVO production chain. Lanthanides and other microelements were then used for distinguishing a particularly prised EVO production from Liguria (northwestern Italy) made from Taggiasca olive variety, verifying that this production can be easily authenticated on the base of these chemical descriptors

Authentication and traceability study of Hazelnuts from piedmont, italy

Hazelnut is one of the most important items in high-quality food products from Piedmont, Italy. The ‘Tonda Gentile delle Langhe’ (TGL) variety is acknowledged all over the world as the best one, and it is particularly appreciated when used to provide flavor in chocolate products. Authentication and/or traceability studies must therefore be developed to safeguard this variety against fraud, which can occur when the product is partially or totally substituted with hazelnuts of lower quality. In this work, a classification of hazelnuts from different countries is presented, showing the possibility to discriminate the TGL from other productions on the basis of the distribution of trace elements as determined by means of inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), with particular reference to lanthanides. Accuracy of the sample treatment procedure was tested by analysis of biological certified materials. Data from elemental analysis were chemometrically treated with an unsupervised method, such as principal component analysis (PCA), allowing for a good discrimination among groups

Towards uncertainty in dimensional metrology of surface features for advanced manufacturing

    No full text
In previous work, an original approach was developed for the dimensional characterisation of surface features on parts and test artefacts, aimed at supporting researchers involved in the study of advanced manufacturing processes. In the approach, methods and algorithms from image processing, coordinate metrology, surface metrology and reverse engineering are merged into an original framework for feature identification, extraction and dimensional characterisation, starting from areal topography data. With the ultimate goal of associating uncertainty to the results obtained in dimensional characterisation, this paper focuses on specifically investigating reproducibility and repeatability of dimensional characterisation results obtained on a test dataset consisting of a step-like feature manufactured by material jetting

ACS Applied Nano Materials / Tannin-based Nanoscale Carbon Spherogels as Electrodes for Electrochemical Applications

    No full text
A promising route to monolithic, hollow sphere carbon assemblies based on sustainable precursors with a tailored nanostructure is presented. These carbon assemblies, recently termed carbon spherogels, are generated via a polystyrene sphere template-based sol-gel process of mimosa tannin and biomass-derived 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural. By completely replacing petroleum-based precursors (especially toxic formaldehyde) highly porous, nanoscale carbon monoliths are obtained, which are investigated as state-of-the-art, sustainable electrode materials for energy storage. This study defines the required synthesis parameters, in particular the highly acidic initial pH and a tannin/water ratio of at least 0.05 or lower, for a successful and homogeneous generation of these biobased carbon spherogels.Ann-Kathrin Koopmann, Jorge Torres-Rodríguez, Miralem Salihovic, Juergen Schoiber, Maurizio Musso, Gerhard Fritz-Popovski, Nicola Huesing and Michael S. Billboards. Two projects by Maurizio Montagna

Architecture, city, device, time: all of these issues are taken into account by the Milanese photographer Maurizio Montagna. A keen interpretation of places in their anthropic and cultural transformation emerges from all his works. This article aims to focus on two different projects, Billboards 2008 and Billboards site-specific Latronico 2018, in which the author reflects on the relationship among the object, the subject and the context/landscape where they belong
