In the novels of the detective Bruna Husky, Rosa Montero uses a degraded urban landscape, inspired by the well-known film Blade Runner. The coexistence of current and futuristic elements allows the author to project the concerns of her present into a dystopian Madrid, starting from the use of elements of both hard-boiled and science fiction

Bruna Maccari-Poisson : A rubbish pit from the Late Middle Ages in the Saint-Jean quarter of Lyon.
The author examines pottery found in an ancient well, filled in towards the end of the Middle Ages and then converted into a rubbish pit, in which eight stratigraphie units have been identified. Using typological criteria, the author proposes to date some of the pottery to the fifteenth century, and the rest to the early sixteenth century. Produtos naturais: atividades antibacteriana e imunomoduladora in vitro e perfil bioquímico in vivo
Natural products such as essential oils have diverse biological properties and are important sources for research. In addition, the essential oils are present in our daily lives, both in products like shampoos, soaps and foods, as well as alternative therapies such as aromatherapy. We aimed to investigate the biological activities of natural products, the results are presented in the form of three manuscripts. We investigated the antibacterial action of essential oils of tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), geranium (Perlagonium graveolens), palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) and their major compounds respective 1-terpinen-4-ol, citronellol and geraniol in liquid and vapor phase (Chapter I). The effectiveness of essential oils and their main components such as antimicrobial agents, was demonstrated by direct contact and vapor form using three different methodologies and the information of the damage caused by these vapors using transmission electron microscopy. In another part of the study, we aimed to assess serum biochemical parameters and oxidative stress in rats subjected to inhalation of palmarosa essential oil and geraniol during thirty days (Chapter II). Mices treated with natural products had total cholesterol levels decreased and it was found beneficial effects of the essential oil on oxidative stress. Concluding the study, we evaluated the immunomodulatory action of C. martinii essential oil and geraniol as the production of proand anti-inflammatory by human monocytes (Chapter III). Different concentrations tested showed no cytotoxic effects on monocytes. The production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α was not affected by C. martinii and geraniol, and only the concentration of 5 mg/mL of C. martinii, there was a stimulus for their production. Furthermore, at all concentrations of geraniol and C. martinii increased by interleukin (IL) -10 by human monocytes. The results showed that the noncytotoxic concentrations of oil and geraniol ...Produtos naturais, como os óleos essenciais, possuem diversas propriedades biológicas bem como são importantes fontes para a pesquisa.
This thesis is divided into general introduction and three chapters, which are in the format of manuscripts to be submitted for publication in three separate journals. Considering the increasing use of natural products, especially those obtained from plants, aimed to study the antibacterial activity of 27 essential oils used in aromatherapy, on Staphylococcus aureus (n=10), Escherichia coli (n=9), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n=9), isolated from human clinical cases, using the methodology of the disks (diffusion) and determination of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) (dilution) on Mueller Hinton Agar (Chapter I). It was found that the strains of S. aureus were more susceptible than the Gram negative, and the values of MIC90% was 0.21 mg/mL for the oils of black pepper (Piper nigrum) and tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and 26.52 mg/mL for oil Copaiba (Copaiba officinalis). For E. coli strains, the oil of cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) was the most effective, with 2.0 mg/mL for MIC 90% while for P. aeruginosa, the value was 8.29 mg/mL with clove (Syzigium aromaticum). Using MIC values obtained in vitro were selected five oils (cloves-Syzygium aromaticum, geranium-Pelargonium graveolens, lavender- Lavandula angustifolia, palmarosa-Cymbopogon martini and tea tree-Melaleuca alternifolia) and the bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, antibacterial activity was checked by dilution of individual oil and saline water in order to reduce the bacterial count in function of time (Chapter II). Both tests in saline and water, it was found that the sensitivity of bacterial strains to essential oils were close together, but were significantly different compared to control tests. Essential oils have demonstrated the potential inhibitor of the three bacterial strains, and the results were different from those obtained in vitro-ágar with Gram negative... Geological and structural map of the southeastern Pag Island, Croatia: field constraints on the Cretaceous - Eocene evolution of the Dinarides foreland
The sedimentary succession exposed in the Northern Dalmatia Islands mainly consists of Cretaceous to Neogene shallow water carbonates, folded and imbricated within the External Dinarides thrust belt. During Cretaceous times, carbonate sediments were deposed on a heterogeneous, tectonically-influenced carbonate platform, which was then uplifted and eroded, as evidenced by a regional unconformity embracing the Late Cretaceous and Paleocene. Sedimentation resumed during the Eocene, when the area was part of the foreland basin of the Dinaric belt. With our geological and structural map of the southeastern Pag Island at the 1:25,000 scale, we refined the stratigraphic and structural setting and the tectono- sedimentary evolution of the area.Applied Geolog
