No full textThe sternwheeler "State of Washington" was built in Tacoma in 1889. The vessel carried passengers and freight on runs between Seattle and Bellingham Bay and, after 1905, on the Hood Canal route. In 1906, the "State of Washington" carried a Stanley Steamer automobile from Hoodsport to Seattle. This may have been the first car carried across Puget Sound.

A novel multiple attribute decision making method based on q-rung dual hesitant uncertain linguistic sets and Muirhead mean
No full textThis paper aims to propose a new multi-attribute decision making (MADM) method in
complicated and fuzzy decision-making environment. To express both decision makers (DMs’)
quantitative and qualitative evaluation information comprehensively and consider their high
hesitancy in giving their assessment values in MADM process, we combine q-rung dual hesitant
fuzzy sets (q-RDHFSs) with uncertain linguistic variables and develop a new tool, called the
q-rung dual hesitant uncertain linguistic sets (q-RDHULSs). First, the definition, operations
and comparison method of q-RDHULSs are proposed. Second, given the interrelationship
among multiple q-rung dual hesitant uncertain linguistic variables (q-RDHULVs) we introduce
some aggregation operators (AOs) to fuse q-rung dual hesitant uncertain linguistic (q-RDHUL)
information based on the Muirhead mean, i.e. the q-RDHUL Muirhead mean operator, the q-RDHUL weighted Muirhead mean operator, the q-RDHUL dual Muirhead mean operator, and
the q-RDHUL weighted dual Muirhead mean operator. To cope with MADM problems with
q-RDHUL information, we propose a new method based on the proposed AOs. Afterwards, we
apply the proposed method to an enterprise informatization level evaluation problem to verify
its effectiveness. In addition, we also explain why our proposed method is more powerful and
flexible than others

No full textThe author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.Problem mieszkaniowy w Afryce jest jednym z wyzwań, które należy rozwiązać, aby Afrykanie mogli odzyskać godność życiową i zabezpieczyć swoje prawa do tradycyjnego życia rodzinnego w akceptowalnych warunkach. W artykule opisano badania nad typowymi rozproszonymi strukturami miejskimi i potrzebą wspierania tego typu struktur osadniczych oraz propozycji wprowadzenia nowego systemu konstrukcji domów, opartym na lekkim szkielecie stalowym, łączącym tradycyjny sposób budowania domów z nowoczesną technologią. Przypadkiem szczególnie analizowanym jest problem mieszkaniowy w Republice Czadu. Autor przedstawia podstawową dyskusję na ten temat i swoje propozycje architektoniczne. Niestety luka między potrzebami mieszkaniowymi w Czadzie a finansową wykonalnością budownictwa mieszkaniowego w tym obszarze sprawia, że projekt ten, już w punkcie wyjścia, jest niezwykle trudny do realizacji bez uzyskania zewnętrznych dotacji
Second malignancies in breast cancer patients following radiotherapy: a study in Florence, Italy
No full textntroduction: Patients diagnosed with breast cancer are often treated with surgery followed by radiation therapy. In this paper, we evaluate the effect that radiotherapy may have had on the subsequent risk of second malignancies, including the possible influences of age at treatment and menopausal status.Methods: In order to evaluate the long-term consequences of radiotherapy, a cohort study was conducted based on clinical records for 5,248 women treated for breast cancer in Florence (Italy), with continuous follow-up from 1965 to 1994. The Cox proportional hazards model for ungrouped survival data was used to estimate the relative risk for second cancer after radiotherapy.Results: This study indicated an increased relative risk of all second cancers combined following radiotherapy (1.22, 95% CI: 0.88 to 1.69). The increased relative risk appeared five or more years after radiotherapy and appeared to be highest amongst women treated after the menopause (1.61, 95% CI: 1.13 to 2.29). Increased relative risks were observed specifically for leukaemia (8.13, 95% CI: 0.96 to 69.1) and other solid cancers (1.84, 95% CI: 1.06 to 3.16), excluding contralateral breast cancer. For contralateral breast cancer, no raised relative risk was observed during the period more than five years after radiotherapy.Conclusions: The study indicated a raised risk of second malignancies associated with radiotherapy for breast cancer, particularly for women treated after the menopause

Autor wykorzystał nowe zasoby Archiwum Niemieckiego Liberalizmu w Gummersbach, co umożliwiło przedstawienie nowej oceny wpływu FDP na politykę wschodnią Republiki Federalnej Niemiec.The main goal of the article is to analyze the FDP's program activities in the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the years 1949-1969. Of great importance here is the fact that the author used in this work new archives from the Archives of German Liberalism in Gummersbach. This enabled him to present a new assessment of the FDP's impact on the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany
