In WMSNs, wirelessly interconnected devices enable to ubiquitously retrieve multimedia contents such as video and audio streams, and still images along with scalar data from surroundings for wide range of applications are constrained by processing, memory, and energy resources. Image compression via low-complexity and resource eficient transforms has been addressed by several researchers to prolong network lifetime where energy conservation is achieved through sharing computational load among sensor nodes and by adjusting the transmission ranges of camera nodes. However, those scheme are not adaptive to the presences and changes of energy-level of computational sensor nodes and to the amount of computational load. In this master degree thesis, we propose a resource and energy eficient distributed image compression algorithm that dynamically con_x000C_gures according to the energy-levels of computational nodes and the forwarding strategy that is based on the entropy of the image. The simulation results show that our adaptive distributed image compression scheme signi_x000C_cantly prolong the network lifetime and improve network utilization eficiency, while maintaining adequate image quality

The North Kharga Oasis Survey (NKOS), co-directed by Salima Ikram and Corinna Rossi, was initiated in 2001 in order to locate, document, and map archaeological sites in the Kharga Oasis from the northern escarpment to the area just north of Kharga town. Although the oasis contains evidence dating to prehistoric times, the majority of standing remains are from the Late Period onward, with those in north Kharga primarily dating to the Roman era (1st–5th c. AD). Although many of the major sites take the form of fort-like edifices, administrative buildings, domestic spaces, water-distribution complexes, industrial areas, and temples have also been identified. One such site, some 30 km north of Kharga town, is Muhammad Tulayb, where evidence of ceramic production was identified, which is the subject of this paper

The increasing frequency and intensity of flooding events necessitate innovative solutions for mitigating potential risks and minimizing damage to critical infrastructure. This thesis presents the development and implementation of an Anti-Leakage Current Flood System, designed to enhance flood preparedness and response mechanisms. The system utilizes a NodeMCU v3 controller as the central processing unit, integrating an ultrasonic sensor for real-time water level monitoring. Upon detection of rising water levels, the system employs a color-coded LED display (red, yellow, green) with corresponding indicators on an I2C LCD, offering a clear visual representation of the flood severity. In tandem, a 5V relay module ensures the swift disconnection of the electric supply to prevent electrical hazards during flood events. The integration of a mobile notification system further enhances the system's effectiveness by alerting users to imminent danger and facilitating timely evacuation and precautionary measures. The project also emphasizes the importance of robust testing and calibration to ensure accurate water level readings, along with considerations for power supply backups to maintain system functionality during power outages. Additionally, the thesis explores possibilities for remote monitoring, allowing users to access real-time status updates and notifications through a user-friendly interface. This research contributes to the field of flood management by providing an efficient and proactive solution that enhances community resilience and safety. The documentation accompanying this thesis includes a comprehensive guide for system implementation, calibration, and maintenance, ensuring its accessibility to users and facilitating future developments in flood management technolog

ABSTRACT Heat stress is one of the most detrimental abiotic stresses, causes significant reduction in plant growth and yield in tropical and sub‐tropical regions. Mitigating the adverse effects is crucial for sustainable crop production and global food security. The use of bacterial consortia represents a promising and eco‐friendly approach to enhance heat tolerance in plants, offering a biological strategy to improve resilience under climate‐induced stress conditions. In this study, three heat‐tolerant Bacillus species ( Bacillus velezensis , Bacillus altitudinis and Bacillus cereus ) and two maize hybrids DK‐6103 (heat tolerant) and SW‐1080 (heat sensitive) were selected from laboratory and glasshouse experiments. The bacterial strains were screened in laboratory at various heat stress levels (30°C, 40°C and 50°C for 96 h), while maize hybrids were evaluated in glasshouse conditions [30°C ± 3 (control) and 45°C ± 3 (heat stress) for 6 h per day over a period of 8 consecutive days]. Subsequently, the response of best performing heat‐tolerant Bacillus spp. as individual and consortium was explored in selected maize hybrids under heat stress [45°C ± 3; 6 h/day over a period of 8 consecutive days] based on morpho‐physiological and antioxidant activity. The results revealed that seed inoculation with a bacterial consortium of B. velezensis , B. altitudinis and B. cereus resulted significant improvements in plant growth, morpho‐physiological traits and antioxidant mechanisms. Inoculation treatment demonstrated a rise in shoot and root length (39% and 30%) attributed to enhancements in net leaf photosynthetic rate (25%), soluble protein content (46%), superoxide dismutase (73%), catalase (94%) and proline content (151%) compared to the control. Additionally, seed inoculation also led to a reduction in leaf transpiration rate and malondialdehyde contents indicating a stress response in plants. Consortium‐inoculated seedlings exhibited the highest increases in net leaf photosynthetic rate, soluble protein content, superoxide dismutase, catalase and proline under heat stress. It highlights the effectiveness of bacterial inoculation in enhancing thermotolerance in maize hybrids. In conclusion, seed inoculation with a bacterial consortium effectively enhances seedling growth, physiological traits, antioxidant activities and osmolytes production under heat stress
