Screening of electrospray operating parameters in the production of alginate-royal jelly microbeads using factorial design
Introduction: Royal jelly (RJ) has been consumed as food or as a supplement because of its high nutritional and medicinal values. A fresh harvested RJ is yellowish to whitish in colour and contains proteins, free amino acids, lipids, vitamins, and sugar. Without proper storage conditions such as at 4 °C, RJ’s colour changes to much darker yellow and produces a rancid smell. In order to prolong its shelf life, RJ is usually mixed with honey. Alginate, a natural and edible polymer derived from seaweed is commonly used to encapsulate drugs and food due to its ability to form gels by reacting with divalent cations. However, there is a lack of research on the microencapsulation of RJ in alginate using electrospray. The electrospray technique has the advantage in producing consistent size and shape of alginate microbeads under optimum parameters. Objectives: This research aims to optimize electrospray operating parameters in producing alginate-royal jelly microbeads. Methods: Optimization of alginate-royal jelly microbeads electrospray parameters was done using 24 factorial design with 3 centre points (19 runs). The studied parameters were flow rate, high voltage, nozzle size, and tip-to-collector distance while the responses were particle size, particle size distribution, and sphericity factor. The responses of each run were analysed using Design Expert® software. Results: Nozzle size is a significant parameter that influences the particle size. Flow rate is a significant parameter influencing the sphericity factor. Conclusion: Screening of the electrospray operating parameters paves the way in determining the significant parameters and their design space to produce consistent alginate-RJ microbeads
Halal Certification of Micro and Small Enterprises’ Food Products for Consumer Protection
This research aims to discuss the statutory regulations of halal certification. The study was performed through literature studies, especially on primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials that describe legal protections for consumers and consideration of the halal certification. This study showed that micro and small enterprises’ food products are easy to verify about the halal food products, as long as the organization that assists the enterprises are legal entities. Micro and small enterprises (MSEs) should only make a statement letter of the halalness of a product that is verified and get assistance by Islamic social organizations or religious institutions that are legal entities and/or universities, government agencies, or business entities as long as they are partners with legal Islamic community organizations or Islamic religious institutions. However, regulations related to the halal statement of micro and small enterprise actors must still be reviewed and given special attention and supervision. In Indonesia, with the majority of the Muslim community, the guarantee of the halalness of a product and/or service is crucial. For this reason, the enactment of the Halal Product Guarantee Law is a form of state protection for Muslim consumers in Indonesia.___

A remote-controlled global navigation satellite system based rover for accurate video-assisted cadastral surveys
One of the main tasks of a cadastral surveyor is to accurately determine property boundaries by measuring control points and calculating their coordinates. This paper proposes the development of a remotely-controlled tracking system to perform cadastral measurements. A Bluetooth-controlled rover was developed, including a Raspberry Pi Zero W module that acquires position data from a VBOX 3iSR global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver, equipped with a specific modem to download real-time kinematic (RTK) corrections from the internet. Besides, the Raspberry board measures the rover speed with a hall sensor mounted on a track, adjusting the acquisition rate to collect data at a fixed distance. Position and inertial data are shared with a cloud platform, enabling their remote monitoring and storing. Besides, the power supply section was designed to power the different components included in the acquisition section, ensuring 2 hours of energy autonomy. Finally, a mobile application was developed to drive the rover and real-time monitor the travelled path. The tests indicated a good agreement between rover measurements and those obtained by a Trimble R10 GNSS receiver (+0.25% mean error) and proved the superiority of the presented system over a traditional metric wheel
