MoO3 altered ZnO: A suitable choice for the photocatalytic removal of chloro-acetic acids in natural sunlight exposure

    No full text
The MoO3 coated ZnO photocatalysts were synthesized for the optimum harvesting of the absorbed ultraviolet sunlight photons by initially permeating Mo6+ ions at the surface of pre-synthesized ZnO and finally transformed to MoO3 by thermal treatment in the air. The absorption spectra of the synthesized powders revealed the extension of the absorption edge in the visible region whereas, the photoluminescence spectroscopy established the supporting role of the MoO3 coating in gradually plummeting the excitons recombination. The growth of additional peaks in Raman as well as X-ray photoelectron spectra and the appearance of the corresponding low-intensity reflection substantiated the surface prevalence of MoO3. The absence of the individual particles of MoO3 in FESEM and the verification of coated layer by HRTEM images validated the authenticity of the adopted synthetic route. The electrochemical evaluation of the synthesized powders under illumination revealed the complete elimination of photocorrosion and the synergic role of the MoO3 layer for improved trap and transfer of charge carriers. The evaluation of the flat-band potentials of the coated powders by Mott-Schottky analysis revealed the suitability of the conduction band edges for the generation of superoxide anion radicals. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized powders was assessed for the removal of chloro derivatives (mono-, di-, trichloroacetic acids) in comparison to pure acetic acid. A significant effect of the stability, polarity and stereochemical structure of the substrate on the photocatalytic removal process was observed and discussed. The experimental evidences from the time-scale chemical analysis were interpreted for the identification of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) involved in the degradation/mineralization process. The validation of the Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model was also examined. Efforts were made to estimate the plausible route of the degradation/mineralization process

Improving water use efficiency is crucial since, in Pakistan, water is the main resource that limits crop productivity. A field study was conducted using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replicates at the research farm of the Arid Zone Research Centre, Dera Ismail Khan, to determine the effects of altered irrigation schedules on wheat growth, yield and water use efficiency (WUE). LI1 and LI2 (90 and 60 mm irrigation) at crown root, tillering and milking stages, LI3 (60 mm irrigation) at crown root and tillering stages and (90 mm irrigation) at milking stage, and LI4 (90 mm irrigation) at crown root stage and (60 mm irrigation) at tillering and milking stages, respectively, were the four irrigation levels used in the study. The results showed a non-significant impact of varying watering schedules on plant height, but a significant impact on growth and yield metrics was observed. The largest numbers of total tillers (634), grains per spike (49.65), grain yield (5.58 t ha-1), and WUE (25.62 kg ha-1 mm-1) were observed in the LI4 treatment. The most important stage for plants to withstand water stress is the crown root stage. Compared to earlier growth stages, it is imperative to apply irrigation water at crown root stage in arid climate to maximize productivity and WUE

The study was conducted in Sindh Province of Pakistan. 180 respondents were selected from six district namely Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar Khairpur, Larkana and Jacobabad. From each district 30 respondents were selected by using simple random sampling techniques. This study used a descriptive research design and the target population was farmers. A representative sample of 180 farmers was proposed from six districts of Sindh, namely, 1. Larkana 2. Naushehro Feroze 3. Shaheed Benazirabad 4. Sanghar 5. Mirpurkhas 6. Badin representing the agro-ecological zones of Sindh province producing Cotton, Wheat, Rice, Vegetables, Orchards and Sugar Cane crops. Multistage plan was used to collect the data. A survey questionnaire was designed to collect data for this study. A likert type scale ranging from (1) not familiar (2) to somewhat (3) for very much. This scale was used to asses the level of perceptions of the respondents. The respondents were interviewed personally by well structured and pre-tested direct interview schedule. Questionnaire items were coded and entered into the SPSS computer program. Suitable statistical techniques such as percentage analysis, mean and standard deviation were used to analyze and interpreted the data. The results revealed that out of total growers, majority (54.44%) had medium socio-economic status, whereas 28.89 percent and 16.67 percent had low and high socio-economic status respectively. Extent of knowledge of farmers: Majority of the respondents (52%) were observed in medium category of knowledge followed by high (26.67%) and low (20.56%) levels of knowledge, respectively. A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF FLEXIBILITY VARIABLES IN SPORT PARTICIPANTS AND SPORT NON-PARTICIPANTS

    No full text
Flexibility is a key factor in sports such as gymnastics, hurdling, high jumping, and tackling. Flexibility is a requirement for most dance forms. If there are inflexible issues, a muscle\u27s ability to apply force over an extended range of motion can be compromised, leading to leanness or slowness. A decrease in speed during exercise can be caused by tight hamstrings that limit knee lift and stride length. This is an example. There is no uniform flexibleness between joints, and different body parts require varying degrees of flexibility for various sports. Flexibility is the capacity of muscles, ligaments and tendons to allow large movements of joints. Ultimately, it can be called flexible movement. Stretching the muscles and, even to a lesser extent, the tendons and ligaments can result in increased flexibility. After interviewing 150 sports and non-sports participants, the study examined flexibility measurements of 300 male adolescent individuals. The selection of sampling size for different body and flexibility measurements was made using a random sampling method in this study. The results of t-test determining in table.no.5 that mean Sit and Reach (front side) flexibility (cm) of participants who participate in sports and those not in athletics do not differ significantly. At a degree of freedom of 298, the probability value is lower than the specified level of significance (0.05), other variables’ results are described in results portion. According to the statistical tool, the all-flexibility measurements are not consistent for both participants and non-participants of the sport. Those who participate in sport have higher levels of flexibility for sitting and reaching, shoulder hyperextension, trunk hyper flexibility, and bend twists and touches compared to non-participating individuals. Variability is high among the variables of participants and non-participants\u27 flexibility

Customer satisfaction plays important role in the selection of a bank whether Islamic or Conventional. The higher levels of satisfaction lead the customers towards increased levels of fidelity, and reduces the chances of shifting to another bank. Which indicates that customer satisfaction is positively correlated with customer fidelity and negatively correlated with intents to shift? The survey of 100 customers from both conventional and Islamic banks proved the same

Purpose: The goal of this study is to propose a conceptual framework of new Islamic payment gateway system its acceptance among Malaysians. This study will employ UTAUT with four exogenous latent variables which are Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social influence (SI), Facilitating Conditions (FC) and two endogenous latent variable also known as moderator which is Religiosity (R) and Behavioral Intention (BI).   Theoretical framework: Based on previous study, the UTAUT model design by (Soomro, 2019) hypothesizes of four constructs of variables which are, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. These variables act as predictor of behavioural intention. As for the study, the author has added religiosity variable in place of the four moderators proposed.    Design/methodology/approach: According to (Alam, Hu & Barua, 2018) positivism focuses on testing hypotheses from an existing theory and understanding the individual behaviour. Agreeing to that, (Kholoud Ibrahim Al-Qeisi, 2009) stated in his study that methodologies of positivism have expressed different types of validity checks, such as construct validity, internal and external validity and statistical conclusion validity. In other words, the evidence presented should be able to be examined, as well as the process used, the research context, and to conclude that the claims made are reasonable.   Findings: According to (Batrinca and Treleaven, 2015) the largest, richest, and most dynamic evidence base of human behaviour is social media data, which brings new options for understanding individuals, groups, and society. Innovative scientists and business professionals are increasingly looking for innovative ways to collect, combine, and analyse this huge amount of data efficiently. Companies in the retail and banking industries were among the first to use social media analysis. Retailers utilise social media to increase brand awareness, improve product/customer service, develop advertising/marketing plans, analyse network structure, spread news, and even detect fraud.   Research, Practical & Social implications: We suggest to include item for Religiosity construct that are more to understanding in Islamic Muamalat. In that way, the future study might find more accurate result for Religiosity impact in the construct   Originality/value: According to this study, which adopted from previous study that using religiosity as moderating variable, since we found that Religiosity do have interaction effect for Performance Expectancy and Social Influence towards Behaviour Intention. But the difference is, in previous study the moderation was used in banking field. While in this study Religiosity were used in Payment gateway field
