Molecular insights to explore abietane diterpenes as new LOX inhibitors
No full textLipoxygenase (LOX) inhibitors are well known for their anti-inflammatory effects derived from both natural products and synthetic sources. Taxus wallichiana Zucc is traditionally used in the treatment of various diseases including inflammation. In a recent study, it was used to conduce the isolation of the bioactive compounds from Taxus wallichiana Zucc. thanks to its ethnopharmacological use in diseases including inflammation. Phytochemical studies lead to the isolation of abietane diterpenoids, namely Taxusabietane C (TC) and Taxamairin F (TF). Test compounds showed significant LOX inhibitory effects. IC50 values of TC and TF were 69 +/- A 0.31 and 73 +/- A 0.14 mu M, respectively. The standard compound Baicalein and Tenidap sodium showed the IC50 value being 22.1 +/- A 0.03 and 41.6 +/- A 0.02 mu M. Significant LOX inhibitory activities were supported by a molecular docking simulation to explore molecular interactions of the compounds with the active (catalytic) site of LOX

As there is no concept of difference between the state and religion, so He (ﷺ) at the same time was a religious as well as a political leader. He established a state named Madina, as this new emerged state was facing a lot of problems which were solved by the wisdom of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). Ruling at Madina. He (ﷺ) set precedents for the better planning, discipline and development of a welfare state. Main focus was on Legislation for the maintenance of discipline, implementation of equal law for all subject, enforcement of Hadood, transformation of authorities to the lower level, establishment of different departments for different responsibilities, superiority of merit and a very strong system of accountability. As now in modern ages state are facing many serious issues regarding discipline and maintenance of peace. There are different type of struggles adopted by different state for discipline and peace but result are not satisfactory. In such circumstances it is the duty of Muslim rulers to adopt the policies and strategy which were adopted by the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and show the whole universe that the remedies of all ailments regarding discipline and management are lies in the Prophetic teachings which were provided by the creator of this universe
Role of 5-ALA in improving extent of tumour resection in patients with glioblastoma multiforme
No full textGoal of surgery for patients with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is gross total resection with no new neurological deficits. Surgical resection is often restricted due the difficulty in differentiating the tumour from surrounding normal brain using either naked eye, or standard intra-operative white light microscopy. GBM uptakes orally administered 5-ALA becomes fluorescent when viewed by a special light, and this property has been used to improve intra-operative tumour identification. This technique should therefore allow better extent of tumour resection. The hypothesis has been tested through several studies and even though most studies are of low quality, they strongly favour the use of 5- ALA in improving the extent of resection when compared to white light microscopy. A systematic review on the topic had a similar conclusion. Few studies have also hinted on a high false negative rate with the use of this technique

Role of intra-operative MRI (iMRI) in improving extent of resection and survival in patients with glioblastoma multiforme
No full textMultiple intraoperative aids have been introduced to improve the extent of resection (EOR) in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) patients, avoiding any new neurological deficits. Intraoperative MRI (iMRI) has been debated for its utility and cost for nearly two decades in neurosurgical literature. Review of literature suggests improved EOR in GBM patients who underwent iMRI assisted surgical resections leading to higher overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS). iMRI provides real time intraoperative imaging with reasonable quality. Higher risk for new postoperative deficits with increased EOR is not reported in any study using iMRI. The level of evidence regarding prognostic benefits of iMRI is still of low quality
Comparison between endoscopic and microscopic approaches for surgery of pituitary tumours
No full textSurgical techniques for resection of pituitary tumours have come a long way since it was first introduced in late 18th century. Nowadays, most pituitary surgeries are performed through trans-nasal trans-sphenoidal approach either using a microscope, or an endoscope. Herein the authors review the literature and compare these two instruments with regards to their outcomes when used for resection of pituitary tumours.
Islam and Existentialism: An Analysis of the Philosophy regarding God, Man, Universe, Existence and Education
No full textExistentialism, as a philosophy, revolves around the man’s uniqueness and his experience in an unconcerned universe, unexplainable human existence, focus on freedom of choice and the responsibility acceptance of the consequences of one’s actions. Islam, on the other hand, is a complete code of life which explains all areas of man and has major focus on spiritual and intellectual capacity development of man at the same time for the reason that man is the combination of body and soul or spirit and matter. The current study contrasts Existentialism and Islam with respect to the ideology about God, man, universe, existence and education. The study, by presenting representative notions of both atheist existentialists and non-atheist existentialists, at the end passes the philosophy from Islamic filter and presents implications/recommendations for Muslims teachers and students
