University of Technology Sydney. Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. One of the main obstacles in knowledge-based systems, particularly in the field of evaluation, is to determine when the development of a knowledge base is complete with valid knowledge available to use. Ironically, this question is not easy to answer, since it involves many aspects in the lifecycle of knowledge-based systems. Some efforts have been introduced in literature, although none have been widely used or even agreed upon. In our investigation, we found that it is possible to provide a ready to use knowledge base without a separate testing phase. This thesis examines the way in which the testing phase could be integrated into the development phase through a statistical monitoring task during the knowledge acquisition process. This research tailored the dynamic evaluation framework and utilised the RDR technology as an incremental knowledge acquisition methodology, with additional statistical analysis to monitor the development of the knowledge base. Using this framework, this thesis presents INCAES, an incremental adaptive e-learning system. The knowledge base was developed incrementally for suggesting learning contents to students. The recommendation was provided by analysing the learner model as a representation of the students in adaptive learning. However, a systematic understanding of attributes of learners is still lacking in the field of adaptive learning, since those attributes are regularly changed and updated. Thus, we keep track by investigating the potential learner’s attributes that could be adapted to the adaptive system from a number of recent works. The evaluation of the theoretical concept has been conducted using two real world case studies. The first case study was applied on the Web Programming subject, while the second case study was applied on the Networking Essentials subject. The test cases generated from learners’ attributes and values were used to evaluate the knowledge base. Different scenarios were provided for the case study. The first scenario dealt with stopping the progress of the knowledge acquisition process at an early stage, while the second scenario dealt with stopping it at a later stage. Following the knowledge base construction, two steps of testing were conducted to measure the performance of the initial knowledge base and the subsequent test set. The results have shown that the framework allows for the rapid development of a knowledge base with valid knowledge inside

Cyber-attacks have become a serious concern in recent years, as hackers can attack systems, databases, and even steal personal data from a particular organization's database and sell it on the dark web. The individual identity data will be used to carry out various financially profitable activities such as online fraud, selling data containing detailed account information, and asking for ransom from data owners. The failure of an organization to protect data assets from cyber-attacks stems from several internal factors such as the vulnerability of the information security system it has, the less than optimal awareness of users in the organization of the importance of maintaining safe behavior in cyberspace, and routine processes related to information security that are missed. COBIT 2019 can be used as an audit framework to assess the level of maturity of the governance. Network infrastructure services in an organization can be measured in terms of the level of capability in terms of the application of technology assets and their configuration using the DSS05 and APO13 domains. This study aims to provide guidelines in assessing system security infrastructure in IT governance by assessing areas that are still not comply with the framework used, and providing recommendations for improving these inconsistencies so that the level of infrastructure capability will be maximized then.Cyber-attacks have become a serious concern in recent years, as hackers can attack systems, databases, and even steal personal data from a particular organization's database and sell it on the dark web. Stunting is a growth issue in children, a serious concern both in Indonesia and globally, affecting over 149 million children worldwide, including 6.3 million in Indonesia. Despite some reduction, achieving the national target by 2024 remains challenging. The government has issued a Presidential Regulation to address stunting, focusing on family nutrition and environmental hygiene. This study aims to predict stunting prevalence, develop a more accurate prediction model, provide a basis for policy, and contribute to the scientific literature on stunting in Indonesia. The methods used include comparing algorithms such as Neural Network (NN), RBF Network, SVR kernel RBF, and Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The evaluation shows significant performance variation: NN performs fairly well, RBF Network performs better, SVR kernel RBF also performs well, but OLS stands out with very accurate predictions, minimal error values, and high correlation.

Cat breed classification is challenging in image processing due to complex visual variations from crossbreeding, which affect care requirements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) and Histogram Equalization (HE) in cat breed classification using a VGG16-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The dataset consists of 4,656 cat images from six breeds, processed with CLAHE and HE for contrast enhancement before training. It is divided into 70% for training, 15% for validation, and 15% for testing. The model is trained for 10 epochs using the Adam optimizer, a 0.0001 learning rate, and batch sizes of 16, 32, and 64. Evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score shows that CLAHE achieves the highest accuracy (99.39%), surpassing HE (99.17%) by 3.29%. CLAHE is more effective in preserving local details, improving precision (78.67%), recall (78.33%), and F1-score (78%). The highest performance is in the Sphinx breed (F1-score 92%), while the lowest is in American Shorthair (F1-score 72%). A high standard deviation indicates classification variations across breeds, but CLAHE consistently improves model accuracy. These findings suggest that CLAHE is more effective than HE in enhancing cat breed classification and offers a more efficient solution than adopting a complex model architecture

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
