The Wine Attributes with the Greatest Influence in the Process of Consumer Choice in Spain
The commercialisation of wine in Spain is problematic due to two concrete circumstances: the decrease in wine consumption because of a consumer shift toward substitute drinks and the greater presence of national and foreign wine in the interior market, which involves an increase in business competitiveness. The increase in competitiveness of quality Spanish wine depends on producing enterprises’ knowledge of wine consumer preferences so they can offer consumers what they demand. In order to respond to this matter and better adapt supply, 421 wine consumers were surveyed using the Best-Worst Scaling methodology. Various segmentations were also made by consumer income and age groups. The results indicate that the two main attributes which condition consumers in choosing wine are the region of origin and having tasted it previously. The region of origin attribute is valued in general by consumers over 34 years old who have a monthly family income above 1,500 €. The attribute of having tasted it before, which on many occasions is associated with the price attribute, is valued particularly by younger consumers and those with lower incomes.Consumer behaviour, Wine attributes, Food Marketing, Consumer/Household Economics,
How corporate governance and globalization can run afoul of the law and good practices in business: The Enron's disgraceful affair.
The purpose of this paper is to set out the Enron’s demise into the perspective of Corporate and Global Governance. To accomplish this target, the incremental cash flow model is expanded to give room for governance issues, while a functional introduction to information sets is developed, including bounded rationality, asymmetric information, opportunistic behavior, transaction costs and agency problems. Then, corporate governance is linked to globalization by means of some recent approaches that go beyond a narrow economic mindset to encompass a far-reaching dynamics. Taking advantage of such background, the Enron’s story is tracked down over a span of fifteen years since its starting day to its bankruptcy filing. Leading events are explained from corporate and global governance viewpoints, while an in-depth analysis is worked out on Enron’s complex game of deception and breach of contracts: the outrageous affiliated limited partnerships, the lavish pay package to its executives, the involvement with global governance through the Indian affair and the Taliban connection. It is for the incremental cash flow model to explain malfeasance with cash flows from assets, and how cash flows to creditors were actually contrived. Furthermore, to highlight how cash flows were swindled from stockholders and, finally, how Enron made wheeling and dealing with cash flows on behalf of its managers.corporate governance, global governance, incremental cash flow model, globalization, information sets, good practices.
The nonlinear actuator disk method as applied to open and ducted rotors
The thesis presents a generalized semi-analytical actuator disk model as applied to the analysis of the incompressible, axisymmetric and inviscid flow around open and ducted rotors.
The method strongly couples the non-linear actuator disk method of Conway (J. Fluid Mech. 1998; 365: 235-267) and the vortex element method of Martensen (Arch. Rat. Mech. 1959; 3: 235-270) and it returns the exact solution, although in an implicit formulation, as superposition of ring vortices properly arranged along the duct surface and the wake region.
The solution is made explicit through a semi-analytical procedure which is validated with the help of asymptotic relations.
The model duly accounts for non-uniform load radial distribution, slipstream contraction, mutual nonlinear interaction between duct and propeller, wake rotation, and ducts of general shape. Furthermore, the method can be easily employed to simulate the flow around an open rotor with a finite hub.
The thesis also presents an assessment of two existing numerical methods capable to simulate open and ducted rotors flow fields. The first is the aforementioned nonlinear and semi-analytical actuator disk method.
The second is based on the introduction of an actuator disk model in a CFD package describing the effects of the rotor through radial profiles of blade forces distributed over a disk surface.
A set of reference numerical data, providing the inviscid axisymmetric velocity and pressure field distributions, are generated with controlled accuracy. Owing to an in-depth analysis of the error generated by the semi-analytical method and to the exactness of the solution in its implicit form, the collected data are well-suited for code-to-code validation of existing or newly developed computational methods.
Finally, thanks to its extremely reduced computational cost the semi-analytical procedure can easily be integrated into design systems based on the repeated analysis scheme of hierarchical type.

Latino politics: identity, mobilization, and representation
Due to the dramatic growth of the Latino population in America, in combination with the relative decline of the Anglo (non-Hispanic white) share, Latino Studies is increasingly at the forefront of political concern. With Latino Politics: Identity, Mobilization, and Representation, editors Rodolfo Espino, David L. Leal, and Kenneth J. Meier bring together essays from a number of leading scholars to address the ever-more important issues within the field. Providing an overview of issues surrounding Latino identity and political opinion—such as differences among Latino groups based on national origin, the importance of descriptive representation, and issues of competition and cooperation, particularly with reference to African Americans—the editors speak to the many fundamental debates ingrained in the discipline.
In addition to highlighting important contributions of the study of Latino politics to date, this volume suggests areas that have yet to be explored and, perhaps more importantly, demonstrates how the study of Latino politics relates to broader questions of American politics and society. Foregrounding debates in the overall discipline of political science, the collection will appeal to those who study Latino politics as well as those who are interested in understanding American politics and society with reference to Latino and "minority" concerns
O que une a Terapia Ocupacional? Paradigmas e perspectivas ontológicas da ocupação humana / What holds together the Occupational Therapy? Paradigms and ontological perspectives of human occupation
AbstractThis text proposes a reflection about the organization of knowledge in Occupational Therapy. Positioning itself in the Philosophy of Science, and particularly in the Kuhnian Model of development of scientific knowledge, the author seeks to analyze "what holds the Occupational Therapy together", a multidimensional discipline that diversifies and amplifies its fields of action constantly. Thus, a historiographical research is carried out through a documentary analysis of primary sources. Paradigms, scientific communities and ontological perspectives are considered as the central axes to understand how Occupational Therapy has advanced from its origins to the current paradigm of the profession, the Social Paradigm of the Occupation. The paper ends inviting the exploration of new forms of dialogue between fields that seem to be distanced from the foundational ontological elements of the profession, proposing that this dialogue will strengthen the disciplinary unit and allow a better understanding of the multidimensionality of Occupational Therapy. Keywords: Epistemology; History; Kuhnian model; Ontology; Paradigms; Occupational Therapy.</p

The Mechanics of Uncertainty in Rodolfo Walsh’s <em>Operación Masacre</em>
ABSTRACT: Critical treatments of Argentinian author Rodolfo Walsh’s watershed Operación Masacre (1957) often read the book as the explanatory force behind Walsh’s later commitments to the militant leftist Peronist Montoneros. In this article, I attempt to complicate such interpretations somewhat: first, by analyzing the nonpartisan and deliberative qualities of the text which eschew political pigeonholing, and second, by remembering Walsh’s shifting politics over the course of his life. Through close analysis of the text as well as later editions and paratexts, I show how Walsh’s performance of uncertainty and verification on the page paradoxically strengthen his call for remedial action and lends moral urgency to the work.
