Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

A minha experiência a nível de estágio curricular, com esta patologia e o desconhecimento das estratégias de intervenção utilizadas, conduziu-me a este interesse por investigar mais sobre esta temática. Verifica-se que, cada vez mais tem sido relatado um aumento do diagnóstico da Perturbação do Comportamento, e como tal, surgiu a seguinte questão: quais as estratégias de intervenção que podem auxiliar na diminuição das consequências da Perturbação do Comportamento de um adolescente?
A presente investigação desenvolveu-se com vista a uma melhor compreensão da Perturbação do Comportamento, na adolescência, bem como, das estratégias de intervenção a aplicar, por parte dos intervenientes, e consequentemente proporcionar reflexões de maior importância de modo a contribuírem para um processo de diminuição das manifestações da Perturbação do Comportamento no adolescente.
Este estudo efetuou-se segundo a metodologia da investigação qualitativa, sendo a análise de conteúdo a técnica utilizada para a análise de dados recolhidos. Relativos à realização de duas entrevistas exploratórias e três grupos focais aplicados.
A linha investigativa seguida, procurou efetuar uma revisão da literatura existente sobre a Perturbação do Comportamento, na adolescência. A diversa bibliografia consultada, permitiu identificar as principais características de comportamento, os critérios e medidas para o diagnóstico, as condicionantes biológicas, psicológica e sociais que parecem estar na origem do mesmo, bem como as principais estratégias de intervenção. Pode constatar-se que a formação a toda a comunidade educativa é indispensável, de modo a se esclarecer o conceito de Perturbação do Comportamento e os sintomas associados, para que assim, se poderem aplicar estratégias de intervenção eficazes e com vista a minorar as manifestações da Perturbação do Comportamento no adolescente. Palavras Chave: Adolescência, Estratégias de Intervenção e Perturbação do Comportamento.The theme chosen for this research focuses on the Disruption of Behavior in adolescence and as an intervention strategy. My experience is a curricular internship, with this pathology and ignorance of the intervention strategies, led me to this interest to investigate more about this topic. Since, increasingly, an increase in the diagnosis of Behavioral Disorder has been reported surgically and then: to assess which as an intervention strategy that can help in reducing the consequences of the Behavior Disorder of an adolescent. A present invention has been developed with a view to a better understanding of Behavioral Disorder in adolescence as well as the intervention strategy by the participants and consequently the most important reflexes in order to contribute to a reduction process manifestations of Behavior Disorder in the adolescent. This study was carried out according to a methodology of the qualitative research, being an analysis of the content the technique used for an analysis of collected data. Concerning the accomplishment of two exploratory interviews and three focal groups applied. The research line followed, sought to review the existing literature on Behavioral Disorder in adolescence. The different bibliography consulted allowed us to identify the main behavioral characteristics, the criteria and measures for the diagnosis, the biological, psychological and social determinants that seem to be the origin of the same, as well as the main intervention strategies. It can be seen that training for the entire educational community is indispensable, in order to clarify the concept of Behavior Disorder and its associated symptoms, so that effective intervention strategies can be applied and the manifestations of Behavior disturbance in the adolescent.
