Essays and Studies in the Art of Kucha
The first volume of the Academy project 'Buddhist Murals of Kucha on the Northern Silk Road' contains three studies that show what information can be gained from the paintings.
The first study by Ines Konczak-Nagel, “Painted Buddhist Cosmology: The Pictorial Programme of Central Pillar Caves in Kizil”, demonstrates how Buddhist cosmology, always seen in connection with the Buddhist path of salvation, is represented in the selection of topics and the arrangement of paintings on the cave walls.
The second study by the same author, “Representations of Architecture and Architectural Elements on the Wall Paintings of Kucha”, is part of an ongoing extensive analysis of the material culture depicted in the paintings. The architecture represented provides insights into the local Tocharian architecture of Kucha, which has since disappeared.
The study of Monika Zin “The Monk Kāśyapa in Kucha, the First Council, and the Furtherance of Buddhist Teaching” examines interesting extensions within the paintings illustrating the events connected with Buddha’s death, the many-scenic representations of the first council in Rājagṛha. There are good reason to believe that the monk Mahākāśyapa who was supposed to convoke the summit was worshiped in Kucha as a saint and guarantor of the preservation of Buddhist teachings.:Foreword by the Series Editors (Eli Franco and Monika Zin)

First record of larvae of Brevimulticaecum sp. (Nematoda: Heterocheilidae) in amphibians from Northern Argentina
Mozgovoi, in Skrjabin, Shikhobalova and Mozgovoi, 1951 are reported for the first time in three species of amphibians from northern Argentina, Lepidobatrachus laevis Budgget from Formosa province and Physalaemus albonotatus Steindachner and Pseudis paradoxa Linnaeus from Corrientes province. Specimens were found encapsulated in mesentery, abdominal cavity, serous of stomach and intestine of hosts. The larvae exhibited the main characteristics of the genus Brevimulticaecum, such as short ventricular appendices and the position of excretory pore and excretory nucleus. This larva is described and illustrated.Fil: Gonzalez, Carolina Elizabeth. Consejo Nacional de Invest.cientif.y Tecnicas. Centro Cientifico Tecnol.conicet - Nordeste. In Sarbiewski's Circle − Albert Ines' Lyric Poetry
Albert Ines is discussed here as the author of the lyrical poem Lyricorum centuriae (Gdańsk 1655). In the collection there are many religious poems, especially ones taking up Virgin Mary as their subject matter, and hence Ines is described as vates Marianus. Ines' religious poems are bound by a double convention: that of the use of biblical and ancient metaphors; they are also even ”garrulous” because of motives of praise accumulated in a litany-style manner. His reflective poems are more interesting; they are a kind of intellectual-lyric poetry abouding in clever sayings, pointed antitheses, etc. Ines imitates Sarbiewski but being consistent with the rule ”imitari non expilare” he limits himself to only two ”parodies”; and even they are not very typical. The fact that Ines imitates Sarbiewski is also seen in taking up the same subjects in his poems. This similarity is sometimes rather faint so its significance for our interpretation will be limited
The Story of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz
abstract: The story of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz is one of a woman who defied the odds of her time. Sor Juana was a nun born in the 1600's in Mexico. From an early start, she had an endless passion for knowledge and always strove to learn as much as she could. She went on to become a nun at the Convent of Santa Paula and used her intellect to advocate for women's rights. Though met with opposition, she wrote many poems, letters, and even plays which included her strong push for women's equality. However, the name Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz is almost never mentioned in popular feminist discourse, despite Sor Juana being credited as one of the first feminist authors. This paper works to not only tell the story of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz in detail, but also works to answer the question, "Why do people not know about Sor Juana". By diving into the origins of the Feminist movement in the United States, the dark underbelly of Feminism is uncovered. Primarily, the topic of how racism in feminism has plague the civil rights movement, what damage has been done to people of color because of feminism's history, and how does that pertain to modern day feminism and Sor Juana. By telling her story through both written and visual aids, the voice of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz is no longer silenced but free to tell her tale and move a generation
Fil: Furlan, Violeta. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Honey-based mixtures used in home medicine by nonindigenous population of Misiones, Argentina
Honey-based mixtures used in home medicine by nonindigenous population of Misiones, Argentina. Medicinal mixtures are an underinvestigated issue in ethnomedical literature concerning Misiones, one of the most bioculturally diverse province of Argentina. The new culturally sensitive politics of the Provincial Health System is a response to cultural practices based on the medicinal use of plant and animal products in the home medicine of the local population. Honey-based medicinal formulas were investigated through interviews with 39 farmers of mixed cultural (Criollos) and Polish origins in northern Misiones. Fifty plant species and 8 animal products are employed in honey-based medicines. Plants are the most dominant and variable elements of mixtures. Most of the mixtures are food medicines. The role of honey in more than 90% of formulas is perceived as therapeutic. The ecological distribution of taxa and the cultural aspects of mixtures are discussed, particularly the European and American influences that have shaped the character of multispecies medicinal recipes.Fil: Kujawska, Monika. 16. Inés Nodiera i Lucia Landolfiego – o intertekstualności apokryficznej
The Encounter between the West and the Arab World in the Age of Nahdah (Renaissance). The Translation Movement in the Arab Literary Reviews
