Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textDietz Monarch Lantern, circa. 1910. The Dietz Monarch came in at least seven variations, this model is believed to be one of the later six. The first Monarch model featured a flat top and was replaced in 1910 by the more common dome style. It is a possibility that this model is the more common Monarch \u27streamline\u27 which is the most common Monarch variant was widely used for a filming purposes in Hollywood and remained in production until the 1960\u27s.

Overall 5G-MoNArch architecture and implications for resource elasticity
No full textProceeding of: 2018 European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC), June 18-21, Ljubljana, SloveniaThe fifth generation (5G) of mobile and wireless communications networks aims at addressing a diverse set of use cases, services, and applications with a particular focus on enabling new business cases via network slicing. The development of 5G has thus advanced quickly with research projects and standardization efforts resulting in the 5G baseline architecture. Nevertheless, for the realization of native end-to-end (E2E) network slicing, further features and optimizations shall still be introduced. In this paper, essential building blocks and design principles of the 5G architecture will be discussed capitalizing on the innovations that are being developed in the 5G-MoNArch project. Furthermore, building on the concept of resource elasticity introduced by 5G-MoNArch and briefly resummarized in this paper, an elasticity functional architecture is presented where the architectural implications required for each of the three dimensions of elasticity are described, namely computational, orchestration-driven, and slice-aware elasticity.This work has been performed in the framework of the H2020 project 5G-MoNArch co-funded by the EU

From its beginnings as Rush Winery before the Civil War, it became Sweet Valley Wine Company and eventually the Monarch Wine Company. Otto Brown, the company's second owner, built a home near the Division Street company in 1892. The wine company building is in ruins, but Brown's home has been restored and operates as the Sweet Valley Inn. (April 2005

No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textComposer and sound artist Rob Mackay traces the migratory route of the monarch butterfly, from the Great Lakes in Canada to the forests of Mexico, via the shifting coastal landscape of the eastern shores of Virginia.Along the route of this sonic road movie, Rob meets people working to protect this extraordinary species: Darlene Burgess, a conservation specialist monitoring butterfly populations at Point Pelee on the shores of Lake Eerie; Nancy Barnhart, coordinating the monarch migration programme for the Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory at Kiptopeke State Park, where we also encounter composer Matthew Burtner, whose sonifications of data from the local seagrass beds help track changes in the monarch\u27s environment; and butterfly expert Pablo Jaramillo-L\uf3pez giving a tour of the Sierra Chincua and Cerro Pel\uf3n reserves in Mexico. We also hear reflections from the late Lincoln Brower, the American entomologist whose legacy has inspired many of today\u27s research and conservation efforts.The programme features Rob Mackay\u27s binaural field recordings, and audio from live stream boxes, set up in partnership with the ecological art and technology collective SoundCamp to monitor the monarch\u27s changing habitats.
