Hybrid automata dicretising agents for formal modelling of robots
Some of the fundamental capabilities required by autonomous vehicles and systems for their intelligent decision making are: modelling of the environment and forming data abstractions for symbolic, logic based reasoning. The paper formulates a discrete agent framework that abstracts and controls a hybrid system that is a composition of hybrid automata modelled continuous individual processes. Theoretical foundations are laid down for a class of general model composition agents (MCAs) with an advanced subclass of rational physical agents (RPAs). We define MCAs as the most basic structures for the description of complex autonomous robotic systems. The RPA’s have logic based decision making that is obtained by an extension of the hybrid systems concepts using a set of abstractions. The theory presented helps the creation of robots with reliable performance and safe operation in their environment. The paper emphasizes the abstraction aspects of the overall hybrid system that emerges from parallel composition of sets of RPAs and MCAs
Haas-Molnar Continued Fractions and Metric Diophantine Approximation.
Haas–Molnar maps are a family of maps of the unit interval introduced by A. Haas and D. Molnar. They include the regular continued fraction map and A. Renyi’s backward continued fraction map as important special cases. As shown by Haas and Molnar, it is possible to extend the theory of metric diophantine approximation, already well developed for the Gauss continued fraction map, to the class of Haas–Molnar maps. In particular, for a real number x, if (p n /q n )n≥1 denotes its sequence of regular continued fraction convergents, set θ n (x) = q 2n|x − p n /q n |, n = 1, 2.... The metric behaviour of the Cesàro averages of the sequence (θ n (x))n≥1 has been studied by a number of authors. Haas and Molnar have extended this study to the analogues of the sequence (θ n (x))n≥1 for the Haas–Molnar family of continued fraction expansions. In this paper we extend the study of n≥1 for certain sequences (k n )n≥1, initiated by the second named author, to Haas–Molnar maps

Verification of autonomous underwater vehicles using formal logic
Formal systems verification of autonomous
underwater vehicles (AUV) is addressed in this paper.
Verification includes hybrid system modelling, discrete
abstractions, control systems abstractions, checking of
reachability of undesirable states by formal model checking.
The main contribution of the paper is to show how first
multilayered hybrid system modelling, then its representation
and discretisation in StateflowTM, can be automatically
compiled into interpreted script (ISPL) of the multi-agent
model checker system (MCMAS) for verification. Using this
technique, modelling and model checking can include the
complete physical system of the autonomous vehicle, its multiagent
software on board and also the human interface
represented as an agen

Myxobolus portucalensis Saraiva & Molnar, 1990 in various organs of eel, Anguilla anguilla (L.)
Morphology of Myxobolus representatives parasitic on the fins and various internal organs of eels, Anguilla anguilla (L.) originating from the Szczecin Lagoon and the Odra River estuary area (Poland) was studied. The sporozoans were found to represent a single species identified as M. portucalensis Saraiva & Molnar, 1990. The infection parameters were determined for the respective organs. The species studied have not been previously reported from the internal organs of the eel and the present record is the first from Poland
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Utilisation of iron ore fines & coal dusts for direct steel production in India-Scope for mini-steel plants
The technology of direct ore Reduction-cum-continuous refined steel production is well established and is being exploited, though on a small scale, all over the world. An indigenous process, based on one of the latest technological approaches, the High Frequency Electro-Kineto-Chemistry, ensures the highest economy in processing iron ores with coal or coke fines into finished steel products. Such small plants located at various centres would be ideal to meet the ever-growing steel shortage in the country and to avoid the export of our best raw materials. All the equipment required for the 'Molnar' mini-steel making process may be made or procured in India without expenditure of foreign exchange. (Shri L.P. Molnar, Consulting Engineer, Calcutta
