The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with different distance of VIA / Mohammad Naim Ahmad Shamsuddin
Substrate integrated waveguides (SIWs) was known the best waveguides to give impressive results and cannot be denied that it yielded much better than traditional waveguide or rectangular waveguide. This project was to study the number of via SIW with distances between via from center to center as the manipulated variables. It discovered that the results yielded by performance of SIW can be affected by the distances of via with fixed diameter at 1.0 mm. This proposition additionally examine whether the presupposition that the return loss increased and insertion loss diminished after the distances between via in the same row increased. During designing the SIW, cylinder shaped been chosen as the shape of via and HFSS software was used. 12 GHz was used as cut off frequency and FR4 as the substrate for those designs. From this study, four distances which were 1.1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.3 mm, and 1.4 mm used in design process and the results were analysed based on return loss (SI 1) and insertion loss (S21) graph. The return loss and insertion loss of the design p = 1.3 mm give the reliable results which were -19.4964 dB and -2.2232 dB respectively. This project can be improved by using other arrangement of via besides two straight parallel lines so that it will yield much impressive results. The future researchers can also use other different substrate besides FR4 such as RT Rogers Duroid to gain more steeper of Sll and more nearer to zero of S21. Besides that, future researcher can fabricate the design to measured and compare with results from simulator software
The effects of soil compaction and soil water towards the oil palm yield in the peat soil / Mohammad Naim Md Nasir
A study about the effect of soil compaction and soil water towards the oil palm yield in the peat soil has been conducted at Jenuang, Felcra Sri Mendapat, Jasin Malacca and soil science laboratory at UiTM Jasin, Malacca. The objective of this study is to measure the bulk density and soil water of the soil sample and to identify the relationship between bulk density and soil water on the peat affecting the yields. The data has been collected by soil sampling and yields from the plantations by usin systematic sampling method and has been analyze by Minitab 16 software. The soil sample are taken using soil auger and core ring which is to determine the soil water content (%) and soil bulk densitytg/crrr') at 12 different plot with three replication which is started from February, March and April 2015. 12 sample of soil water and 12 sample of bulk density are taken each month. The mean of bulk density for the 151 month is 0.74 g/cm³, for the 2nd month is 0.64 g/cm³ and for the 3rd month are 0.67 g/cm³. The mean for soil water for the 151 month is 41.1%, for the 2nd month is 40.86% and for the 3rd month are 40.67%. The result has been related with the yields and it shows negative relationship between the variable. That means, there is no effect to the oil palm yields. The P-Value for the correlation between bulk density and yield is 0.062 and it higher than 0.05 and the Pearson correlation is -0.314 which means there is strong negative correlation between those variables. The P-Value for the correlation between soil water and yield is 0.862 and it higher than 0.05 and the Pearson correlation is -0.030 which means there is strong negative correlation between those variables. The result of the study show there is no effect of soil compaction and soil water to the oil palm yields on the peat soil area and it give positive effect. It is recommended that field traffic (farm machinery) and animal trampling is one of soil management to compact the soil structure which is good for oil palm tree that are planted at the organic soil or peat soil area
A survey: Particle Swarm Optimization based algorithms to solve premature convergence problem
Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is a biologically inspired computational search and optimization method based on the social behaviors of birds flocking or fish schooling. Although, PSO is represented in solving many well-known numerical test problems, but it suffers from the premature convergence. A number of basic variations have been developed due to solve the premature convergence problem and improve quality of solution founded by the PSO. This study presents a comprehensive survey of the various PSO-based algorithms. As part of this survey, the authors have included a classification of the approaches and they have identify the main features of each proposal. In the last part of the study, some of the topics within this field that are considered as promising areas of future research are listed
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
