Planning in Brazil, India and Germany
Get PDFPlanning is a fundamental cognitive ability that helps in organizing and structuring events unfolding in a person\u27s daily life. Two studies are presented that analyze planning behavior in different cultures: Brazil, India, and Germany. The first is a cross-cultural psychological study in which students develop plans for uncertain problem scenarios. The second study follows a cultural psychological tradition. Workers from different domains are interviewed about their life problems and plans. The strengths and the weaknesses of both approaches become obvious in the description and discussion of these two studies. The cross-cultural study sheds light on cross-cultural similarities and differences in planning in Brazil, India, and Germany. The cultural psychological approach yields data regarding a theoretical model on the specific cultural influences on planning
Praktikumsbegleitende Weblogs: Ein geeignetes Mittel im Umgang mit Stress?
Get PDFIn Praktika gilt der Einsatz von Weblogs als naheliegendes Mittel zur Förderung von Reflexion und Kommunikation. Besondere Potenziale werden Weblogs im Hinblick auf Stressverarbeitung zugeschrieben. Bislang ist jedoch unklar, ob dieser Ansatz für alle Studierenden gleichermaßen geeignet ist. In dem empirischen Beitrag wird der Frage nachgegangen, unter welchen Bedingungen das tägliche Bloggen bei N=141 angehenden Lehrpersonen im Praktikum von diesen als sinnvoll erachtet wird. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass nur eine Minderheit das Bloggen als hilfreich beurteilt. Positivere Einschätzungen zeigen sich bei Personen mit höheren Werten in Offenheit, Neurotizismus, Stresslevel und Leistungsbereitschaft.

Decision Making in Individualistic and Collectivistic Cultures
Get PDFHow do cultural values influence individuals\u27 decision making? One would expect answers to this question either from cognitive psychology or from cross-cultural psychology. Cognitive theories on decision making, however, rarely consider the factor of culture, and research in cross-cultural psychology deals only to a small extent with decision making. Therefore the study of culture and decision making is a relatively new and unexplored field. In this paper normative and descriptive approaches to decision making are discussed and three cross-cultural studies on decision making in individualistic and collectivist cultures using different methodologies are described. The results are integrated into a model that can be helpful to derive specific hypotheses for further studies in this field

In this promotion of the cult of the local beato, Dominik Andreis stands out with his efforts: he was the author of an unpublished Litany in Croatian (1632), the instigator of publishing an Italian Vita by Giovanni Francesco Loredan (1648), and the sponsor of a three act drama by Girolamo Brusoni (1656), performed in Trogir with musical intermezzos and published two years later (1658)

No full textDie Schattenwirtschaft ist in Mittel- und Osteuropa mit im Durchschnitt 31 Prozent des Bruttoinlandsprodukts größer als in der bisherigen Europäischen Union mit 18 Prozent. Allerdings zeigt sich in den meisten Ländern eine abnehmende Tendenz. Gründe für das abweichende Ausmaß der Schattenwirtschaft auch zwischen den Transformationsländern sind die Qualität der staatlichen Institutionen, die zwei Drittel der Differenzen erklären können, sowie Unterschiede bei dem Ausmaß an Korruption und dem Grad an ökonomischer Freiheit. Die vordringlichste Aufgabe ist die Bekämpfung der Korruption, die am besten durch mehr Transparenz und Liberalisierung erreicht werden kann
