The most frequent Latin term for a cave is antrum1 - a very convenient place for hiding treasures. The folklore of the Southern Slavs is full of tales about such treasures guarded in caves by the devil himself.2 The author discusses numismatic evidence from four caves in Croatia: the Kukuruzovič Cave at Gornji Vaganac3 near Ličko Petrovo Selo, Medvedica near Ogulin,5 Veternica near Zagreb and Vindija near Ivanec - both Veternica6 and Vindija7 additionally being important Palaeolithic sites. Only two of these caves have produced considerable numismatic material. A hoard of Roman Republican coins was found in the Kukuruzovič Cave prior to 18964 - unfortunately the coins had been damaged by fire. In course of various field campaigns led either by S. Vukovič8 or M. Malez 173 coins have been excavated at Vindija. Out of 139 of the coins from Vindija, held either by the City Museum in Varaždin or the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, the earliest specimen was struck for Claudius (41-54) and the last was a coin of Theodosius I (379-395), mentioned by J. Klemene.9 The bulk of the material belongs to the 4th cent. A. D. (97.8%) and the mints represented are: Arelate (0.72%), Aquileia (5.76%), Rome (1.44%), Siscia (19.42%), Sirmium (1.44%), Thessalonica (1.44%) and Nicomedia (0,72%). Emperors represented by various issues included Constantine I (0.72 %), Constantius II (2.88 %), Constans (0.72%), Valentinian I (18.70%), Valens (7.19%) and Gratian (3.59%). The most frequent types are SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE (30.21%) and GLORIA ROMANORVM (23.30 %). A hoard of denarii and antoniniani found in a cave in Carniola with a terminus post quem of A. D. 260 is also mentioned.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The author writes about the fashion of having at least one room furnished and decorated in the “Bosnian” style which became increasingly popular in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy after the occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1878. He then concentrates on the decoration of the suite of rooms prepared in June 1914 for the distinguished visitors Archduke Franz Ferdinand d’Este, heir to the throne, and his consort Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, at the “Bosna” Hotel, situated in the favourite summer resort of Ilidža near Sarajevo. Eight photographs of this apartment were preserved in an album of photographs and postcards assembled by Dr Erich Alexander, then director of the grammar school in Sarajevo. The entire decoration was furnished by Elias Kabiljo, the best-known dealer of antiquities and carpets in Sarajevo, and his wife did the arrangement of the decorations. This suite was situated on the first floor of the hotel and included a spacious veranda, two bedrooms, one bigger sitting-room, one smaller sitting-room, and a private chapel. The couple spent the last three days of their lives in this hotel. Finally, the author discusses the twelve metres tall monument dedicated to the assassinated couple on the Miljacka embankment, designed by Eugen Bory and unveiled on 28 June 1917, three years after their death

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

To create a topography of ancient Siscia is necessary to develop structural analysis, and synthesis of the archives from the period of early and advanced Age. The manuscript legacy requires an interdisciplinary approach to studying. After determining the circumstances in which the notes were created, follow the chronological comparison with earlier and later research facilities, and the state of their treatment. In this way processed archives will contribute to creating a more complete topography of ancient Siscia. In addition to making Siscia topography, the data collected and analyzed in this way will contribute to general knowledge of the quality of life of an ancient provincial centers. The dissertation will be a contribution to understanding the archaeological history of Sisko during the given period. It should contribute to a better understanding of the formation of significant scientific and cultural institutions in Croatia. It is expected that research will contribute to the archaeological map of the continental Croatian with an emphasis on Roman Siscia. Highlight the role of individual Croatian cultural workers in the process, which is almost completely unknown. How much of the town of Sisak is built, it does not seem to be in this field will soon implement a modern and abundant archaeological research, and will complement the data from theses gaps in this field

– 1552.). U tom kontekstu, autor datira pronađeni novac u 15. i 16. stoljeće, donosi povijesnu pozadinu opisujući okolnosti i mjesto nalaza te opće karakteristike ostave. U publikaciji se navodi karakter ostave novca i zaključuje se izvorna vrijednost uspoređujući podatke onodobnih cijena proizvoda
