Cagliari città di giardini. La villa Congiu-Pattarozzi. Note di storia e conservazione

    No full text

The renewed interest in them highlights the lack of specialised skills and the inadequacy of regulations, so it seems appropriate to tackle an innovative research path, capable of reading them as a synthesis of aspects referring to different disciplines. This line of investigation includes the study conducted on urban greenery in the city of Cagliari in the nineteenth-twentieth-century context, with in-depth studies on the villa Congiu-Pattarozzi, the work of Dionigi Scano. The objective is to expand knowledge of this heritage, emphasizing the significance and importance of its memory, in order to safeguard its transmission to future generations. More specifically, the analysis conducted aims to recover the garden architecture and its artefacts, mending the relationships, now severed, between the built, sculptural and plant elements. Finally, the central aspect of the study remains that of guaranteeing the quality of the conservation and valorisation project, through a transcalar and multidisciplinary approach

Measurements in a Carousel (Metingen in een Carrousel)

    No full text
This report is essentially a report of the measurements in the carousel of the laboratory for Fluid Mechanics of the Delft University of Technology made accessible for a slightly wider public. A comprehensive documentation about the considered investigation, both concerning the theoretical background and concerning the elaboration of the experimental evidence can be found in: Booij, R., (1994), "Measurements of the flow field in a rotating annular flume ", Communications on Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering, report no. 94-2, Laboratory for Fluid Mechanics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Delft University of Technology. To make the report more widely accessible a short explanation and description of the contents of every subdivision in English is added. The original text in Dutch by M.M.L. Melis is retained because an integral translation would be too time consuming. The added pages with English text are numbered El, etc.Hydraulic EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience

Unsupervised Classification of Atrial Fibrillation Triggers Using Heart Rate Variability Features Extracted from Implantable Cardiac Monitor Data

Catheter ablation is a common treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF), but its success rate is around 60%. It is believed that the success rate can be improved if the procedure were to be guided by the specific AF triggers found in the "Flashback", i.e. the trend of around 500 ventricular beats preceding the AF onset stored in an implantable cardiac monitor (ICM). The need to automatically classify these different triggers: atrial tachycardia (AT), atrial flutter, premature atrial contractions (PAC) or Spontaneous AF has motivated the design in this paper of an unsupervised classification method evaluating statistical and geometrical Heart Rate Variability (HRV) features extracted from the Flashback. From a cohort of 132 patients (57± 12 years, male 67%), 528 Flashbacks were extracted and classified into 5 different clusters after the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was computed on the HRV features. 2 principal components explained more than 95% of the variance and were a combination of the mean R-R interval, Square root of the mean squared differences of successive R-R intervals (RMSSD), Standard deviation of the R-R intervals (SDNN) and Poincare descriptors, SD1 and SD2. RMSSD and SD1 were significantly different among all clusters (p-value < 0.05, with Holm's correction) showing that distinct patterns can be found using this method.Clinical Relevance-Preliminary step towards ablation strategy guidance using the AF trigger patterns to improve catheter ablation success rates

La Tomba ipogeica di Badde de Janas (Putifigari, Sardegna): una nuovadomus de janascon riproduzione del tetto

This paper presents a new Sardinian neolithic rock-cut tomb of domus de janas type that shows, in the main room, the reproduction of a double-pitched roof, as imitation of a dwelling. The reproduction is realistic in style, completely painted of red, and can be related to the nearest Painted Tomb of S’Incantu in the same Putifigari area. It is discussed on the meaning of such decorations inside rock-cut tombs that reproduce rooms of rectangular plan. However, no sure traces of rectangular huts were found in neolithic dwellings of Sardinia, except the discussed case of Serra Linta (Sedilo). Author thinks that it’s more probable that the reproductions of rectangular houses with double-pitched roof, insidedomus de janas, rather represent a cult building, like the famous “Red Temple” one that it was built in the top surface of Monte d’Accoddi altar, near Sassari

OPERATION OF IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE SYSTEM TO DETERMINE ATRIAL FIBRILLATION RECURRENCE LIKELIHOOD

    No full text
In some examples a medical system comprising an implantable medical device and processing circuitry. The implantable medical device is configured to: sense a cardiac signal of a patient; detect a plurality of episodes of atrial fibrillation (AF) over a time period based on the cardiac signal; and stare AF episode data for the plurality of episodes of AF detected over the time period. The processing circuitry configured to: determine, based on the AF episode data, a first parameter representing a prevalence over the time of AF episodes and a second parameter representing a degree of temporal clustering of the AF episodes; determine a likelihood of recurrence of AF after an AF treatment procedure based on the first parameter and the second parameter; and transmit the likelihood to a computing device for presentation to a clinician
