Elena Miranda Interview
No full textDr. Elena Miranda (Class of 2000) was interviewed by Brett Fearer in the oral history studio in the Fondren Library on Southern Methodist University's campus on October 20, 2022. Dr. Miranda was born in Richmond, California and is the oldest of four daughters. Growing up, her family moved around between various places in the country, many of which Dr. Miranda describes as being heavily segregated. Finally, her family arrived in Plano, Texas, where Dr. Miranda finished high school. She discusses her struggles with counseling and expectations when it came to applying for colleges. She applied and was accepted to SMU, and was also accepted into the President's Scholars program. When Dr. Miranda first arrived at SMU, she describes feeling as if she did not belong due to the socioeconomic gap between her and other students, and SMU not being a diverse community. She discusses her struggles with her identity in her first years at SMU with assimilation and whitewashing, and that she felt she was becoming distanced from her heritage. Dr. Miranda was able to find camaraderie and a helpful community in the geology department with fellow undergraduate students, grad students, and faculty. After graduating with her B.S. in Geology, she decided to pursue her PhD. in Geology at the University of Wyoming. In this section of the interview, Dr. Miranda discusses the challenges faced by minority women in academia. She also discusses her passion for environmental justice, and how it is a major part of her scholarly identity. As of the recording of this interview, Dr. Miranda is a professor of Geology at California State University - Northridge

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil.Este trabalho tem por objetivo a elaboração de uma análise econômica comparativa de custos, entre a alternativa de Pavimento Rígido (pavimento de Concreto de Cimento Portland ), e de Pavimento Flexível (pavimento de Concreto de Cimento Asfáltico), com a finalidade analisar a viabilidade econômica, para a revitalização e preservação das condições da superfície de rolamento, de um pavimento rodoviário, por um período de 20 anos, enfocando o conceito de análise do ciclo de vida útil destes pavimentos. O estudo teve como fonte para coleta de dados experimentais, o Projeto Final de Engenharia, da rodovia BR-262, trecho Miranda-Morro do Azeite - MS. Foram analisados, para cada alternativa, os custos de construção e conservação, bem como a evolução dos custos operacionais, decorrentes da degradação das condições superficiais, que cada pavimento apresenta ao longo do período. Como conclusão desta pesquisa, a partir das análises econômicas efetuadas, os resultados indicaram que a alternativa de utilização do Pavimento Rígido, mostrou-se economicamente mais vantajosa, pela sua melhor relação entre custos e benefícios

Diagnosis Based on Giupponi & Miranda (2016), this species may be separated from other Charinus in Amazonia and northern South America by means of the following combination of characters: tegument yellowishbrown; median eyes and median ocular tubercle absent; lateral eyes reduced, pale; small, rounded tetra- and pentasternum; cushion-like gonopods without projections and with internal seminal receptacles; pedipalp almost perpendicular to longitudinal axis, similar to that of Paracharon caecus; two dorsal spines on pedipalp tarsus, small proximal spine, one-quarter length of distal spine; basitibia of leg IV with two pseudo-articles; leg IV basitibia trichobothrium bt situated in proximal third; leg IV distitibia with 16 trichobothria; leg IV distitibia trichobothria bf, bc and sbf equidistant. The gonopods of C. ricardoi are similar to those of C. bonaldoi, but the pedipalp proportions and length of the pedipalp segments are greater in the former. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan karakteristik, menganalisis kelayakan,
keefektifan, dan tanggapan peserta didik terhadap E-modul Larutan Penyangga
Terintegrasi PjBL-Etno-STEM dengan Tahapan MIRANDA untuk meningkatkan
kemampuan literasi kimia peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian
adalah Research and Development (RnD) dengan tahapan 4D yang terdiri tahap define
(pendefinisian), design (perancangan), develop (pengembangan), dan disseminate
(penyebarluasan). Yang dibatasi sampai tahap 3. Subject penelitian peserta didik kelas
XI.4 SMA N 1 Wirosari. Instrument dalam penelitian ini meliputi instrument tes dan
instrument non tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Teknik analisis data kelayakan
E-modul pada kriteria yang sangat layak dalam aspek materi dan media, (2)
keterbacaan E-modul pada kriteria sangat baik, (3) produk efektif digunakan untuk
meningkatkan literasi kimia berdasarkan hasil ketuntasan klasikal, hasil N-gain,
peningkatan hasil pretest-posttest literasi kimia, dan hasil lembar penilaian
keterampilan, (4) hasil respon peserta didik memperoleh kategori sangat baik. Dengan
demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul larutan penyangga terintegrasi PjBL-
Etno-STEM dengan tahapan MIRANDA ini layak dan efektif digunakan dalam
pembelajaran serta mendapatkan respon yang sangat positif dari peserta didik
