This paper presents the consolidation behaviour of saturated cohesive soils at various dry densities and consolidation pressures. Several soil samples at various densities were studied to determine the effect of dry density on the coefficient of consolidation of cohesive soil and established a relationship between the two

Research problem was lack of information regarding  reproductive disorders that cause failure of artificial insemination and factors causing level and stages of reproductive failure of Donggala cattle. Therefore, the objective current study is to explore information of reproduction insemination failure on the stage of ovary and estrus abnormalities that influence the success of artificial insemination and factors causing reproductive disorders in Donggala cattle at each stage of reproduction. This research was a descriptive study carried out in Sindue sub-district, Labuan sub-district, Central Banawa sub-district and South Banawa in Donggala Regency which lasted from July to November 2016. The study used 121 samples of Donggala cattle belonging to the local farmers group. The cattle samples were cows that in dry period,  not pregnant,  not lactating and  not in an estrus state. The variables of this study are reproductive disorders including anatomical ovarian abnormalities (ovarian hypoplasia, persistent corpus luteum) with rectal palpation approach (direct palpation) and abnormalities of estrus (subestrus, disguised estrus, anestrus) with observation. Fertility variables were non rutern rate (NRR) and conception rate (CR) as the focus on the success of Artificial Insemination (AI). Research variables showed that the percentage of reproductive disorders was much lower with NRR and CR values than normal ovarian values higher than AI evaluation results. The conception rate of the first AI results in Donggala cattle with normal anatomy and ovarian function was 95.6% (87/91 head). Furthermore, ovarian hypoplasia was 9%, (2/22 head), whereas persistent corpus luteum did not occur conception

This research aims to determine the level of effectiveness of artificial insemination in Locally bull using liquid cement based on conception rate (CR) and service per conception (S/C)  in Kab. Mamuju Utara Sulawesi Barat Province.  And to study the economic value of artificia insemination using liquid semen on local bull in Kab. Mamuju Utara Sulawesi Barat Province.  This research used survey methode and record 109 cattle that have been inseminated  from 36 farmer in Kabupaten Mamuju Utara Sulawesi Barat Province. Liquid semen that used is from Simental, Limosin and Bali breed. The data is analised by deskripted statistic. Result of this research is shown 93,3 % (94 : 109 cattle) or S/C is 1,08. The cost of using liquid semen  on the implemantation AI per pregnancy is Rp. 178.200,- lower178% compared by AI using a frozen semen. Further research is needed about AI using a liquid semen from local region

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Production and Quality of Eggs and Concentrations of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in Local Chicken

This study aimed to assess the level of production and quality of eggs and the concentrations of Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in Local Chicken. This research is a quantitative research. Research variables were the number of eggs, Hen House (HH), Hen Day (HD), egg-laying rhythm, interior and exterior quality of eggs, Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The type of chicken used was local chicken that is in a productive period as many as 72 chickens. Analysis of the data used was descriptive analysis. The results of the study found that 72 chickens were in normal conditions with the total eggs produced were 1180 and the average egg weight was 41.62 grams. Hen House was 11.80 eggs, Hen Day was 16.39 eggs, and the egg-laying rhythm was 2.61 days. The egg quality included the egg white index was 0.14 cm, the yolk index was 0.47 cm, the air sac diameter was 36.96 mm, the thickness of eggshell was 0.35 mm and the yolk color was yellow. FSH and LH concentrations increased during the post-incubation period to 181.61 pg/ml (FSH) and 2,325.86 pg/ml (LH). As for during the incubation period, the concentration of FSH and LH decreased to 58.48 pg/ml (FSH) and 1,771.93 pg/ml (LH)

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
