    Acceptance conditions in automated negotiation

    In every negotiation with a deadline, one of the negotiating parties has to accept an offer to avoid a break off. A break off is usually an undesirable outcome for both parties, therefore it is important that a negotiator employs a proficient mechanism to decide under which conditions to accept. When designing such conditions one is faced with the acceptance dilemma: accepting the current offer may be suboptimal, as better offers may still be presented. On the other hand, accepting too late may prevent an agreement from being reached, resulting in a break off with no gain for either party. Motivated by the challenges of bilateral negotiations between automated agents and by the results and insights of the automated negotiating agents competition (ANAC), we classify and compare state-of-the-art generic acceptance conditions. We focus on decoupled acceptance conditions, i.e. conditions that do not depend on the bidding strategy that is used. We performed extensive experiments to compare the performance of acceptance conditions in combination with a broad range of bidding strategies and negotiation domains. Furthermore we propose new acceptance conditions and we demonstrate that they outperform the other conditions that we study. In particular, it is shown that they outperform the standard acceptance condition of comparing the current offer with the offer the agent is ready to send out.     Dominant-Negative Constructs of IRE-1alpha as an Effective way to Suppression of Tumor Growth through the Inhibition of Cell Proliferation

    Activation of cell proliferation and angiogenesis as well as the down-regulation of apoptosis are important for tumor growth through pathways of the unfolding protein response/endoplasmic reticulum stress, a fundamental phenomenon for secure protection of cells by maintaining the functional integrity of the endoplasmic reticulum. It is mediated by three sensor and signaling pathways: IRE-1a/ERN1 (inositol-requiring enzyme-1a/endoplasmic reticulum to nuclei 1), ATF6 (activating transcription factor 6), and PERK (double stranded RNA activated protein kinase (PKR)-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK). All three arms of the unfolded protein response are important for tumor cell survival and growth especially under hypoxic conditions, but the unfolded protein response signaling is mainly mediated through the ERN1 pathway.The inhibition of ERN1 by its dominant-negative constructs leads to a decrease of tumor growth through suppression of angiogenesis and cell proliferation as well as activation of apoptosis and tumor suppressors. Data concerning the molecular mechanisms of the effect a blockade of ERN1 signaling enzyme has on glioma growth is analyzed, including the expression of genes controlling angiogenesis, cell proliferation, cell cycle, and apoptosis. Moreover, the inhibition of ERN1 endoribonuclease only has more profound effect on the expression of most key regulatory genes as well as on cell proliferation than the blockade of both kinase and endonuclease activity of ERN1 in glioma cells. In conclusion, the inhibition ofERN1/IRE-1alpha coordinately regulated factors involved in tumor growth, lowering expression levels of pro-proliferative, pro-angiogenic and anti-apoptotic factors and enzymes and up-regulated the expression of anti-proliferative, anti-angiogenic and pro-apoptotic factors in a trend towards the level of these transcription factors in normal human astrocytes. These review attempts to summarize recent advances in the role of inhibition of ERN1 signalingby dominant/negative strategies in regulation of proliferation and apoptosis related genes and suppression of tumor growth, which will help to define the best therapeutic targets for the design of potent antitumor drug

    Expression of genes encoding IGFBPs, SNARK, CD36, and PECAM1 in the liver of mice treated with chromium disilicide and titanium nitride nanoparticles

    Abstract Objective. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of chromium disilicide and titanium nitride nanoparticles on the expression level of genes encoding important regulatory factors (IGFBP1, IGFBP2, IGFBP3, IGFBP4, IGFBP5, SNARK/NUAK2, CD36, and PECAM1/CD31) in mouse liver for evaluation of possible toxic effects of these nanoparticles. Methods. Male mice received 20 mg chromium disilicide nanoparticles (45 nm) and titanium nitride nanoparticles (20 nm) with food every working day for 2 months. The expression of IGFBP1, IGFBP2, IGFBP3, IGFBP4, IGFBP5, SNARK, CD36, and PECAM1 genes in mouse liver was studied by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results. Treatment of mice with chromium disilicide nanoparticles led to down-regulation of the expression of IGFBP2, IGFBP5, PECAM1, and SNARK genes in the liver in comparison with control mice, with more prominent changes for SNARK gene. At the same time, the expression of IGFBP3 and CD36 genes was increased in mouse liver upon treatment with chromium disilicide nanoparticles. We have also shown that treatment with titanium nitride nanoparticles resulted in down-regulation of the expression of IGFBP2 and SNARK genes in the liver with more prominent changes for SNARK gene. At the same time, the expression of IGFBP3, IGFBP4, and CD36 genes was increased in the liver of mice treated with titanium nitride nanoparticles. Furthermore, the effect of chromium disilicide nanoparticles on IGFBP2 and CD36 genes expression was significantly stronger as compared to titanium nitride nanoparticles. Conclusions. The results of this study demonstrate that chromium disilicide and titanium nitride nanoparticles have variable effects on the expression of IGFBP2, IGFBP3, IGFBP4, IGFBP5, SNARK, CD36, and PECAM1 genes in mouse liver, which may reflect the genotoxic activities of the studied nanoparticles.</jats:p

ABSTRACT: The dissociative recombination process of N2H+ ions with electrons was investigated using a stationary afterglow combined with a Cavity Ring-Down Spectrometer. We conducted real-time observations of the changes over time in the population densities of various rotational and vibrational states of recombining N2H+ ions. Based on these observations, we determined the rate coefficients for thermal recombination of N2H+ within a temperature range of 80 - 350 K. By employing newly calculated vibrational transition moments of N2H+ , we provided an explanation for the discrepancies observed in previous studies regarding the recombination rate coefficients. Furthermore, our findings indicate that the measured recombination rate coefficient does not exhibit a statistically significant correlation with the number density of the buffer gas. We also conducted a study on the dissociative recombination of H3 + ions with electrons in neon gas at a temperature of 110 K. ABSTRAKT: Byl zkoumán proces disociativní rekombinace iontů N2H+ s elektrony pomocí stacionárního dohasínajícího plazmatu ve spojení s Cavity Ring-Down Spektrometrem. Prováděli jsme reálné sledování změn v hustotách populace různých rotačních a vibračních stavů rekombinujících iontů N2H+ v průběhu času. Na základě těchto pozorování jsme určili koeficienty rychlosti pro termální rekombinaci N2H+ v teplotním rozsahu 80 - 350 K. S využitím nově vypočtených vibračních momentů přechodu N2H+ jsme vysvětlili rozpory pozorované v předchozích studiích týkajících se koeficientů rychlosti rekombinace. Navíc naše zjištění naznačují, že naměřený koeficient rychlosti rekombinace nesvědčí o statisticky významné korelaci s hustotou částic pozaďového plynu. Provedli jsme také studii disociativní rekombinace iontů H3 + s elektrony v neonovém plynu při teplotě 110 K.
