Application of Machine Learning to Improve Appropriateness of Treatment in an Orthopaedic Setting of Personalized Medicine
The rise of personalized medicine and its remarkable advancements have revealed new requirements for the availability of appropriate medical decision-making models. Computer science is an area that plays an essential role in the field of personalized medicine, where one of the goals is to provide algorithms and tools to extrapolate knowledge and improve the decision-support process. The minimum clinically important difference (MCID) is the smallest change in PROM scores that patients perceive as meaningful. Treatment that does not achieve the minimum level of improvement is considered inappropriate as well as a potential waste of resources. Using the MCID threshold to identify patients who fail to achieve the minimum change in PROM that results in a meaningful outcome may aid in pre-surgical shared decision-making. The decision tree algorithm is a method for extracting valuable information and providing further meaningful information to the domain expert that supports the decision-making. In the present study, different tools based on machine learning were developed. On the one hand, we compared three XGBoost models to predict the non-achievement of the MCID at six months post-operation in the SF-12 physical score. The prediction score threshold was set to 0.75 to provide three decision-making areas on the basis of the high confidence (HC) intervals; the minority class was re-balanced by weighting the positive class to penalize the loss function (XGBoost cost-sensitive), oversampling the minority class (XGBoost with SMOTE), and re-sampling the negative class (XGBoost with undersampling). On the other hand, we modeled the data through a decision tree (assessment tree), based on different complexity levels, to identify the hidden pattern and to provide a new way to understand possible relationships between the gathered features and the several outcomes. The results showed that all the proposed models were effective as binary classifiers, as they showed moderate predictive performance both regarding the minority or positive class (i.e., our targeted patients, those who will not benefit from surgery) and the negative class. The decision tree visualization can be exploited during the patient assessment status to better understand if those patients will benefit or not from the medical intervention. Both of these tools can come in handy for increasing knowledge about the patient’s psychophysical state and for creating an increasingly specialized assessment of the individual patient
The Impact of Gender and Personality in Human-AI Teaming: The Case of Collaborative Question Answering
This paper discusses the results of an exploratory study aimed at investigating the impact of conversational agents (CAs) and specifically their agential characteristics on collaborative decision-making processes. The study involved 29 participants divided into 8 small teams engaged in a question-and-answer trivia-style game with the support of a text-based CA, characterized by two independent binary variables: personality (gentle and cooperative vs blunt and uncooperative) and gender (female vs male). A semi-structured group interview was conducted at the end of the experimental sessions to investigate the perceived utility and level of satisfaction with the CAs. Our results show that when users interact with a gentle and cooperative CA, their user satisfaction is higher. Furthermore, female CAs are perceived as more useful and satisfying to interact with than male CAs. We show that group performance improves through interaction with the CAs, confirming that a stereotype favoring the female with a gentle and cooperative personality combination exists in regard to perceived satisfaction, even though this does not lead to greater perceived utility. Our study extends the current debate about the possible correlation between CA characteristics and human acceptance and suggests future research to investigate the role of gender bias and related biases in human-AI teaming
Chick Lit in Historical Settings by Frida Skybäck
Chick lit is mostly contemporary portrayals of single women in cities. The Swedish author Frida Skybäck writes “chick lit in corsets”, that is, chick lit in a historical setting, and she writes primarily for teenage girls. Her two novels Charlotte Hassel (2011) and Den vita frun (2012) balance between chick lit jr. and romance. They can also be read as historical novels, and in my article I highlight how Skybäck has consciously played with the different genres to convey a feminist message and to strengthen young readers

Frida Kahlo -näytelmän puvustusprosessi
Opinnäytetyön aiheena on Kuopion kaupungin teatterissa vuonna 2016 keväällä ensi-iltansa saanut Frida Kahlo -
näytelmän puvustusprosessi. Opinnäytetyössä prosessia tarkasteltiin J. Michael Gilletten teatterituotantoon tarkoitetun suunnittelu-ja ongemanratkaisumallin avulla.
Tekijä toimi opinnäytetyö-ja työharjoittelujakson aikana skenografi Marie Antikaisen assistenttina ja puvustusprosessin havainnoijana Frida Kahlo -näytelmässä. Tekijä suunnitteli näytelmän tanssikohtauksiin viidelle tanssijalle puvut. Havainnoinnin lisäksi opinnäytetyöhön haastateltiin koko näytelmän puvustuksen suunnitellutta skenografi Marie Antikaista sekä puvustonhoitaja Pirkko Jokelaa, joilta saatiin arvokasta tietoa siitä, miten näytelmän puvustus syntyi tällaiseen taidepainotteiseen näytelmään.
Havainnointiaineistoa hankittiin näytelmään ensisijaisesti näytelmän käsikirjoituksesta, elokuvasta, elämäkerroista, pukuhistoriasta, ajankuvasta sekä näytelmän harjoituksista, kyselemällä ja kuuntelemalla ohjaajaa ja muita teatteriproduktion työntekijöitä.
Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi raportti, jossa opittiin käytännössä soveltamaan J. Michael Gilletten ongelmanratkaisumallia. Raportissa sovellettiin myös muita esille tuotuja luovan prosessin työkaluja lopputuloksen saavuttamiseksi. The subject of the final thesis is clothing of the play of Frida Kahlo. The premiere was played in spring 2016. The clothing design process was considerd by the method of J.Michael Gillette, which is meant to be theatre production workers. The final thesis and training were connected to the same process.
During the training period the author worked as an assistant and observer in the play of Frida Kahlo. The author had also designed a dancing costume for five people in the Frida Kahlo play’s dancing scene. The whole play’s costumes designer, scenographer and costumier Marie Antikainen and also wardrobekeeper Pirkko Jokela were interviewed for this work. They gave important information on how to create this kind of costumes and how they choose these clothes to this kind of oriented play.
The observation material was collected this play from the place in plays script, movies, biography, the history of fashion, the plays scenes, asking and listenig to the director and other theatre production members.
As a result of final thesis is this report where I learned in practice to apply J. Michael Gillette’s method. I used in the report also other creative methods

Frida Framework Implementation for Workflow Manipulation in Android Applications: Implementasi Frida Framework untuk Manipulasi Alur Kerja pada Aplikasi Android
Enhancing security on Android devices has posed challenges for security researchers. Root bypass is a commonly employed method to evade detection by security mechanisms. In this research, the author explains the utilization of Frida, a dynamic instrumentation framework, for performing root bypass on Android devices. By leveraging Frida's capabilities for runtime code interception and modification, the author can alter the behavior of applications attempting to detect root presence. A series of experiments were conducted using Frida, successfully by passing common root detection mechanisms. The results demonstrate Frida's potential as an effective tool for root bypass and security testing on Android devices. This research provides further insights into the use of Frida in the context of Android device securit

The author remembers the great interest that Mexican painter Frida Kahlo\u27s (1907-1954) life and work have been generating among academics and artists in the last few years, but the reader of this work may notice that its main objective does not center on the myths that, based on the artist\u27s tragic existence and on the evident dramatic particularities in her work, were created and have had warm reception in the consumption society. Without understating these values, what the author intends, following a poetic perspective, is to evidence aspects of the plastic expressively resulting from the relation of Frida Kahlo\u27s pictorial texts with the Mexican pre-Columbian iconographies
