Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Unconscious hibridization in the inter-trance exchange of a hypnosis session

puis la soumet à la méthodologie de « l’entretien d’explicitation » définie par Pierre Vermersch.
Cette méthode permet, étape par étape, d’analyser les interactions qui ont émergé dans l’espace
transactionnel des deux présences. La situation d’hypnose qui convoque des états de transes est
particulièrement intéressante pour évaluer ce qui se co-construit dans cette communication.
Le résultat fait apparaître comment des connaissances implicites ont nourri le « tiers inclus »,
(le contenu et le sens de ce qui est partagé par le thérapeute et son client). Dans cette séance,
apparaissent des niveaux inconscients et imaginaires conformes à l’inconscient collectif occidental,
mais aussi à d’autres inconscients ethniquement étrangers, faisant émerger le phénomène
d’hybridation. Ce phénomène est interprété comme le reflet et l’effet de la mondialisation qui
entraîne les acteurs à intégrer des logiques autres et paradoxales.
Cela questionne directement la médecine intégrative ou complémentaire qui choisit d’intégrer
d’autres médecines et à ce titre, se trouve confrontée à la validation de médecines issues
d’ancestrales traditions aux origines chamaniques.
Trois questions en émergent :
A La science nouvelle peut-elle s’aventurer au coeur des interactions transactionnelles des états
de transes partagées ?
A Serait-il possible de concevoir l’hypnose, non comme une technique objectivable, mais comme
un rapport d’inter-transe dans une situation particulière de soin ?
A Serait-il possible de s’intéresser de façon scientifique aux compétences de guérison de certains
mécanismes spirituels, notamment celui de la réversion ?Following the introduction, this article describes a session of hypnosis that transformed into a
“happening.” It then analyzes the session using the “explicitation interview” methodology defined
by Pierre Vermersch, which allows for a step-by-step analysis of the interactions that emerged
within the transactional space between the two participants. As a result, we see that it is particularly
interesting to evaluate a hypnosis experience involving trance states in terms of that which is
co-constructed within the therapist-client communication. Doing so brings to light the implicit
knowledge that augments the “third party,” which is defined as the content and the sense of what
is shared between the therapist and the client in a hypnosis session. Within the session presented
here, we see a hybridized phenomenon in which the participant evokes levels of the unconscious
and imaginary, corresponding not only to the Western collective unconscious, but also to ethnically
foreign repertoires of the collective unconscious. This phenomenon is interpreted as a reflection of
globalization mechanisms that prompt actors to integrate both “other” and paradoxical logics.
The implications of this article directly question how integrative and complementary medicine
are confronted with the validation of medicinal approaches coming from ancestral traditions of
shamanic origin in their attempt to bring together diverse medicinal practices.
Three questions result:
A Can new science venture into the heart of the shared transactional interactions that occur in
trance states?
A Is it possible to consider hypnosis not as an objectifiable technique, but as an inter-trance
relation within a specific therapeutic context?
A Is it possible to bring scientific interest to the healing capacities of certain spiritual mechanisms
such as reversion

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
