Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
ELEVEN FACES OF JAN GOGOL, JR.
Author Jan Rendl in his thesis attempts to look at the world of ideas and educator Jan
Gogola ml. through the eleven chapters in which each chapter somehow characterizes itself by Jan Gogola ml. and each of them somehow determines its creative ideas of it through the metaphor of a football match when Jan Gogola, with its characters, movies himself a teammate, as well as defensively. It gives goals with their situations as well as occasionally digging his opponents ankles.
Jan Gogola ml. thus embodies one stage of the Department of Documentary Film at FAMU, which often stands at the intersection between teaching activities and Karel Vachek among students who applied by them during their seminars psychological methods that work must be peculiarly associated with the author of the film

Author as a text of culture. Dorota Masłowska as the heroine of her own artistic projects
Rozprawa to studium przypadku Doroty Masłowskiej, pisarki związanej z Warszawą,
środowiskiem „Lampy”, Galerią Raster i osobą Pawła Dunina-Wąsowicza, a obecnie
„Dwutygodnikiem”.
uwarunkowany wszystkimi trzema czynnikami.
sensów i wartości.
Jej teksty
wprowadzają do obiegu kulturalnego kontrdyskurs w zakresie podmiotowości autorskiej.
postacią wydawcy i przyjaciela – Pawłem Duninem-Wąsowiczem.
Doroty Masłowskiej, Doroty Masłowskiej, Masłowskiej) i Patrycji Pitz, reprezentujące autorkę
oraz znaczenie otrzymania nagrody Nike. W rozdziale piątym analizuję jakie strategie
dramatyczne przyjmuje Dorota Masłowska wobec zagadnień współczesności i polityczności w
szczególności do piosenki „Chleb”. Jak zostałam wiedźmą. Opowieść autobiograficzna dla
dzieci i dorosłych to pierwsza i jedyna książka dla dzieci Doroty Masłowskiej. Mimo
sugerowanego wymiaru autobiograficznego w tytule, w powieści nie występuje alter ego
autorki, są natomiast dwie postacie mogące symbolizować jej ambiwalencje wobec instytucji
macierzyństwa: matka i wiedźma. W rozdziale ósmym przyglądam się zmianie w
podmiotowości pisarki, związanej z włączeniem tożsamości macierzyńskiej do jej
dotychczasowego wizerunku. W rozdziałam dziewiątym i dziesiątym zajmuje się zbiorami
wcześniej publikowanych tekstów Masłowskiej wydanymi następnie w formie książkowej.
Obydwa znalazły się rubrykach felietonistycznych, jednak w przypadku drugiego cyklu
Masłowska nalega na nazywanie ich esejami. Książka Więcej niż możesz zjeść. Felietony
parakulinarne to zbiór felietonów o jedzeniu publikowanych w magazynie kobiecym
scenicznej adaptacji tekstu przez TR.The dissertation is a case study of Dorota Masłowska, a writer associated with Warsaw,
"Lampa" magazine and the Galeria Raster community, the person of Paweł Dunin-Wąsowicz,
and recently "Biweekly”, an online magazine. It aims to trace how during her career she
constructed her public identity through the media presence as well as artistic practices. Dorota
Masłowska's fiction debut came at a period of ongoing change in the field of literary culture,
related to the changes of 1989. Marketization, media changes, Western ideologies and theories
were the most important factors determining the evolution of the previously post-Romantic
paradigm. Dorota Masłowska became the first literary star, whose success was conditioned by
these three factors. But media interest, which led to high sales, focused as much on her as a
person as on any literary text. This required the author to develop a self-presentation strategy,
which at the same time was actually observable in her work from the very beginning. The core
of all Masłowska's works is language, with performativity as its basic feature. By using it, she
creates a fictional world of her works, of which she is herslef a part. Masłowska's subjectivity
as a writer was born from a language involved in Polish cultural traumas. The chaotic period of
rapid changes of 1989, brought a sense of eradication, loss of meaning and values. Social trauma
found expression in the "exhaustion" of language. Masłowska is most interested in this
defective language. On its basis, she creates her own, and with it the novel’s world and
characters are born. The author in the first two novels placed herself at the center of the fictional
world. In this way, her actual experience was rewritten by means of a language into literary
fiction. Dorota Masłowska is an autofictional writer. An important element of her strategy is
playing with the expectations about the writer's image. She problematizes the writer's status and
its place in contemporary culture using self-irony and self-pastiche. Her texts introduce a
cultural counter-discourse on the personality of the author. She deconstructs stereotypes and
criticism about herself.
The dissertation consists of eleven chapters, which contain analyses of consecutive
works of Dorota Masłowska. In the first four chapters, I present her first career phase,
culminating in the "Nike" award, which established her as a writer. I reconstruct the
circumstances of the creation of her first novel and establishing contacts with the important
figure of the publisher and friend – Paweł Dunin-Wąsowicz. I analyse the reasons for the
spectacular success of Snow White and Russian Red using the figure of a girl. In chapter three,
I look at the personal experiences related to sudden fame, described by the author in Dziennik
za Krainy Pazłotka. In the chapter about Queen's Peacock, I analyse the female characters of
MC Doris (MC Dorota Masłowska, Dorota Masłowska, Masłowska) and Patrycja Pitz,
representing the author and the importance of receiving the "Nike" award. In chapter five, I
analyse the dramatic strategies Dorota Masłowska adopts regarding contemporary and political
issues in A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians and No matter how hard we tried and
how the narrative relates to her own ideological identifications. Subsequent undertakings in
Masłowska's artistic activity were the publication of her third novel and an interview – The
world soul, conducted by Agnieszka Drotkiewicz. In the sixth chapter, I explore the issue of
translationality, postreality and alleged Honey, I Killed Our Cats and the interview banality. In
2014, at an interval of just three months, Masłowska published a children's book and an album
of music. Society is Mean was produced by the Raster Gallery, which also hosted its premiere
and exhibition of several music videos. In addition to music videos, the "music project" Mister
D was accompanied by concerts and a Facebook fanpage run by the author. In chapter seven, I
analyse how the writer’s identity influenced the reception of her "music project", how she
communicated on her first fan page with readers and the meaning of the music videos made, in
particular for the song Bread. How I became a witch. An autobiographical story for children
and adults is the first and only book for children by Dorota Masłowska. Despite the suggested
autobiographical dimension in the title, there is no alter ego of the author in the novel, though
there are two characters that can symbolize her ambivalence towards the institution of
motherhood: mother and witch. In chapter eight, I look at the change in the writer's subjectivity
related to the inclusion of a maternal identity in her current image. Chapters nine and ten deal
with collections of Masłowska's previously published texts, which were subsequently published
as books. The texts were all originally published as media columns, but in the case of the second
series, Masłowska insists on calling them Essays rather than feuilletons. The book More than
you can eat. Paraculinary columns is a collection of feuilletons about food published in the
women's magazine "Zwierciadło" in 2011-2013. In the chapter, I look at the descriptions of
food-related practices and the cultural anthropologist's attitude adopted by the author, and
analyse one of the promotional meetings in which she performed the social role of the writer.
How to take control over the world without leaving home is a collection of texts mostly
published previously in the online magazine "Biweekly". The themes of several of her essays
on pop culture, as she calls them, are TV series and female celebrities. In the chapter I devote
more attention to them, because the author expresses the opinion that TV series currently play
the role of novels, that is, they best present the modern world, while the issue of the subjectivity
of successful women and their place in society also applies to the writer. At the end of the
chapter, I analyse the significance of Masłowska's transformation from columnist to essayist.
The last, eleventh chapter is devoted to the fourth novel by Dorota Masłowska Other People. I
examine why, despite the formal resemblance to The Queen’s Peacock, there is no character
resembling the author and what it means. I also analyse the phenomenon of strengthening her
own author's brand during promotional activities and on the occasion of the stage adaptation of
the text by TR

Actor Profile of Jan Vondracek
Divided into seven chapters, the work treats seven roles of the Czech actor Jan Vondracek (born in 1966) in Divadlo v Dlouhe Theatre from 1997-2008. The author starts from the analysis of Vondracek's performances and describes the specifics of his
showmanship and generalizes the personality traits of his characters. She also ponders the meaning of Czech dramatic art based on
typical characters in the context of contemporary Czech theatre
The picture of Jan Palach in czech culture
This thesis deals with cultural image of Jan Palach. It focuses especially on symbols and myths contributing to construction of this image. The main emphasis is given on the concept of sacrifice - the study analyzes comparisons of Jan Palach to archetypes of Jesus Christ and young martyrs. In the second part author analyzes national dimension of Palach's cultural image. She deals with comparison of Palach to Jan Hus and analyzes Palach's funeral as a part of tradition of Czech public funerals - quiet national demonstrations. The methodology of the study is discourse analysis, which is applied not only on texts (fiction and nonfiction), but also on photographic and film footage
