Prof. Menon – Pioneered Technology Development in Electronics
34-35Prof. M.G.K. Menon was the founder secretary of the Department of Electronics and first Chairman of the Electronics Commission, constituted in June 1970 and February 1971, respectively. In an interview with Dinesh C. Sharma, Prof. Menon spoke about this important development

Anti-colonial struggles, postcolonial subversions : an interview with Nivedita Menon
This interview centres around three themes: a) anti-colonial and nationalist convergences and disjunctures; b) the tensions between feminism and nationalism and inherent contradictions within Indian feminism and c) knowledge economies. Despite the mass presence of women in every kind of anti-imperialist resistance, feminist issues were not visible in the mainstream nationalist agenda, even well after independence in India. Over successive years, all homogenizing and patriarchal moves that accompany mainstream nationalism were subject to intense debate and scrutiny. In fact, this co-optation of feminist goals in nationalist neo-liberal agendas is a feature shared with many postsocialist economies. Menon critiques the concept of intersectionality which congeals into non-recognition multiple axes of identity, seeing race as the primary oppression. This has been a vexed issue for Dalit feminism(s). Finally, in relation to knowledge production, Menon identifies the production and distribution of knowledge as one still dominated by American and Western European academy, which potentially cripples dialogues between postsocialist and postcolonial scholars.</p
Comparisons of Two Integral Inequalities with Hermite-Hadamard-Jensen's Integral Inequality
Certain comparisons of Iyengar-Mahajani’s and Kesava Menon’s
integral inequalities with Hermite-Hadamard-Jensen’s integral inequalities are
considered and some mistakes in the paper [On certain inequalities by Iyengar
and Kesava Menon, Octogon Math. Mag. 4 (1996), no. 1, 9–11.] are corrected.
Some applications of these inequalities to elementary functions are carried out
and several inequalities involving mean values are obtained

A Menon-type identity using Klee's function
summary:Menon's identity is a classical identity involving gcd sums and the Euler totient function . A natural generalization of is the Klee's function . We derive a Menon-type identity using Klee's function and a generalization of the gcd function. This identity generalizes an identity given by Y. Li and D. Kim (2017)
Shared molecular and functional frameworks among five complex human disorders: a comparative study on interactomes linked to susceptibility genes.
BackgroundGenome-wide association studies (gwas) are invaluable in revealing the common variants predisposing to complex human diseases. Yet, until now, the large volumes of data generated from such analyses have not been explored extensively enough to identify the molecular and functional framework hosting the susceptibility genes.Methodology/principal findingsWe investigated the relationships among five neurodegenerative and/or autoimmune complex human diseases (Parkinson's disease--Park, Alzheimer's disease--Alz, multiple sclerosis--MS, rheumatoid arthritis--RA and Type 1 diabetes--T1D) by characterising the interactomes linked to their gwas-genes. An initial study on the MS interactome indicated that several genes predisposing to the other autoimmune or neurodegenerative disorders may come into contact with it, suggesting that susceptibility to distinct diseases may converge towards common molecular and biological networks. In order to test this hypothesis, we performed pathway enrichment analyses on each disease interactome independently. Several issues related to immune function and growth factor signalling pathways appeared in all autoimmune diseases, and, surprisingly, in Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, the paired analyses of disease interactomes revealed significant molecular and functional relatedness among autoimmune diseases, and, unexpectedly, between T1D and Alz.Conclusions/significanceThe systems biology approach highlighted several known pathogenic processes, indicating that changes in these functions might be driven or sustained by the framework linked to genetic susceptibility. Moreover, the comparative analyses among the five genetic interactomes revealed unexpected genetic relationships, which await further biological validation. Overall, this study outlines the potential of systems biology to uncover links between genetics and pathogenesis of complex human disorders

Geometrical optimization of parallel mechanisms based on natural frequency evaluation: application to a bio-inspired system for future space applications
This paper presents an optimization procedure conceived to design parallel mechanisms (PMs) with legs of constant and/or variable length connected, at their endpoints, to a fixed base and a movable platform through universal and spherical joints, respectively. In the proposed procedure, the first natural frequency of the mechanism is the objective function to be maximized. The optimization problem is formulated by using dimensionless variables in order to identify the optimal geometry independently of mechanism size, platform density, and leg cross-sectional area and material. As a case study, the procedure is employed to find the optimal geometry of a 2-DOF spherical PM to be used as an orienting device in future space mission
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
