    Iqbal meri nazar se

The paper tries to achieve a philosophic and poetic understanding of the Iqbalian concept of nationalism in the context of India. Viewing Muhammad Iqbal through the lens of his texts, the paper navigates through the poet’s lifetime to understand the development in his ideas. It aims to flesh out a nuanced and a largely unconventional understanding of his literary impressions as compared to their popularly accepted misreadings. The thesis draws majorly from one diwa̅n and a few historical statements of Iqbal as primary sources. It also refers to a few secondary research works, which help to contextualize and investigate the philosopher’s ideological and political beliefs. An important learning achieved from perusing the primary sources is that Iqbal’s humanism is rather an underestimated subject of study. His love and concern for fellow human beings—regardless of their cultural and religious affiliation—stands beautifully in agreement with his appreciation of the communal differences that existed among Indian peoples. And that is the major reason that motivated Iqbal to demand ‘federated units’, where smaller yet holistic aggregations of people could thrive according to their distinct values. While the post-partition narratives imposed on the poet-philosopher compel us to perceive him as a separatist, the following paper redefines the notions of geographical borders, nationalism and statehood, and contends for Iqbal as a proponent of United India

The author discusses a revolutionary and conservative judicial activism corresponding to both Twombly and Iqbal court cases. It mentions that the court can take an Act of Congress to institute a pervasive fee-shifting regime for discovery costs

Edge-Based Local and Global Energy Active Contour Model Driven by Signed Pressure Force for Image Segmentation

    No full text
Image segmentation is a tedious task that suffers from constraints, such as blurred or weak edges and intensity inhomogeneity. Active contour models (ACMs), including edge-and region-based methods, are extensively used for image segmentation. Each of these methods has its pros and cons that affect image-segmentation accuracy and CPU processing time. This study combines local and global region-based fitting energies and uses statistical image information to drag contours toward object boundaries, thus overcoming image inhomogeneity. The bias field, the region affected by image artifacts, is calculated and added with the local fitting energy model to capture inhomogeneous object boundaries. Furthermore, the combined local and global statistical information is appended with the edge-indicator function to rapidly move the contour over objects with strong edges, thereby avoiding boundary leakage. A region-based length term is driven by the signed pressure force (SPF) function that evolves the curve on either the outer or inner side of the object, depending on its sign. The SPF function contributes to achieving a smoother version of energy minimization over gradient descent flow. The proposed ACM is applied to multiple synthetically generated, and medical images, together with online available public databases: the PH2 database, the skin-cancer-mnist-ham10000 THUS10000 database, and the specific images from PascalVOC2007 database. All the experiments confirm the better segmentation accuracy and improved time potency of the proposed methodology over previous level set-based approaches

Hamda Memon,1 Ricardo Parrondo,2 Julianna Schreurs,2 Ernesto Ayala,2 Madiha Iqbal2 1Department of Family Medicine, Geisinger Health in Wilkes Barre, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, USA; 2Division of Hematology and Oncology, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida, USACorrespondence: Madiha Iqbal, Department of Medicine,Division of Hematology-Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program, Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo road, Jacksonville, FL, 32224, USA, Email [email protected]: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a multi-system disease characterized by a dysregulated immune system. Autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (AHCT) is the only treatment that has been shown to confer significant benefit in controlling disease and improving survival for patients with SSc. A diagnosis of multiple myeloma (MM) after the diagnosis of SSc is rare and optimal treatment in such cases remains unclear. We here report a case of a female patient who was diagnosed with MM while she was undergoing evaluation for AHCT due to SSc. A novel conditioning regimen for AHCT, with therapeutic efficacy in SSc and MM was offered to the patient, resulting in long term remission of both diseases. Keywords: systemic sclerosis, autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation, multiple myelom

PENTINGNYA IJTIHAD DALAM AGAMA PERSPEKTIF MUHAMMAD IQBAL DAN IMPLIKASINYA BAGI TEOLOGI DAN KEMISKINAN

This study wants to see how important the ijtihad by Muhammad Iqbal is on religious knowledge and experience which often causes conflicts of thought among Western and Islamic intellectuals. In his reform efforts, Iqbal focused his attention on the formation of Muslim personalities, through the concept of ego or khudi (personal, self, self-hod). In this context, this article also wants to discuss in detail the implications of Iqbal\u27s thoughts for theology and poverty. This is important, because according to Iqbal, Islamic theology has been stagnant for about 500 years. So that the space for ijtihad is not very developed, and causes Muslims to fall into poverty. It is necessary to review Iqbal\u27s thoughts about insan kamil (perfect human) which can only be achieved if it has passed three phases, namely obedience to the law, self-control, and awareness as God\u27s representative. This research is also in the form of library research on the concept of ijtihad in Muhammad Iqbal\u27s Islamic perspective. As an analytical tool, the author uses a historical-philosophical approach that relates to the history and thoughts of a person who has a deeper and comprehensive meaning. This paper concludes, first, the ijtihad carried out by Muhammad Iqbal is centered on Islamic sciences, such as theology, Sufism, interpretation and so on which have an impact on religious experience, thought, and the formation of good individuals in Islamic society. Second, consistent with the above ijtihad, Muhammad Iqbal formulated the concept of khudi and insan kamil. The concept of insan kamil Iqbal is a further development of the concept of khudi. Therefore, the author synthesizes the two concepts as a subtilization or importance of ijtihad in Muhammad Iqbal\u27s religious perspective

Sir Muhammad Iqbal or better known as Allama Iqbal was an author, philosopher, lawyer, and politician in British India. He lived when the Mughal Dynasty collapsed, and Islam in South Asia was in chaos. At that time also, British troops managed to colonize some of the lands of South Asia. As a result the freedom of Muslims to worship is increasingly difficult, they are suppressed from all sides. This situation prompted Allama Iqbal to create a discourse known as the 'Pakistan Movement'. The goal is to liberate Muslims to be free from the confines of the colonialists and provide a solution to establish a new state for the Muslim community of South Asia to be able to practice Islam in peace. This scientific work was created with the aim of exploring the ideas of Ukhuwah Islammiyah in the perspective of Allama Iqbal and his contribution to taking part in the process of Islamization in society. This scientific work uses a literature study approach and historical analysis as a scientific approach to explore Allama Iqbal's thoughts on Ukhuwah Islammiyah. It is hoped that scientific work can be a reference material for intellectuals to explore insights about Ukhuwah Islammiyah
