IMPORTANCE AND RELATIONSHIP TO EDUCATION AMONG ROMS
The estimated 10 million Roma across Europe make up the continents largest minority and one of its most vulnerable groups. Without access to quality education, Roma communities remain trapped in poverty and isolated at society’s margins. Governments and civil society have recognised the problem and developed initiatives to address it. Positive, substantial change, however, has been haphazard and slow. Roma children continue to have much worse rates of participation and performance than non-Roma children. Roma children are often placed in schools for children with learning disabilities simply because they are Roma. Schools with a high percentage of Roma often lack the resources to give students the skills and knowledge they need to get good jobs or access higher education. Improving education for Roma is challenging, but not impossible. The obstacles facing Roma schoolchildren can be overcome with political will and improved cooperation among various stakeholders, including international organizations, national governments, local school boards and Roma communities.
This diploma work researches the motives that influence Roma people’s attitude towards education, the extent of Roma people education in our region today and what they expect from their education in connection with the improvement of their quality of life.
Presented are motivation theories, mostly those related to education, as for example Maslow theory of needs which is based on hierarchy of needs, Vroom motivation theory based on expectations of positive consequence of some deed, as well as Leavitt motivation scheme and Likert modified theory of motivation.
Research between Roma people was realized in the form of a questionnaire where agreement with statements was evaluated. The purpose was to research the motivation and attitude towards education among Roma people.
The research brought some interesting conclusions. Most of all, that Roma people are very much aware of the importance of education, the language barriers among the people included in the questionnaire have almost completely disappeared, Roma people are aware of the importance of preschool education and that they, in great extent, cooperate with educational institutions, as well as that the work of Roma assistants as indirect link between Roma people and the main population is far from being sufficient

Songs and musical fairy tales of Janez Bitenc
The main object of the present final thesis was to examine how often preschool educators incorporate poems and fairy tales by Janez Bitenc into music activities and how are they understood. Moreover, the work examines if also other modern authors of children poems and fairy tales are incorporated.
In the theoretical part the life and work of Janez Bitenc are presented. Moreover, ways on how to bring children closer to music and appropriate poetry and on how to present them to children are investigated.
Due to the fact that more and more popular songs appear in preschool, the thesis describes ways on how to preserve songs that are age appropriate and prevent the singing of popular songs and other types of songs which are not appropriate for preschool children.
The second part of the theoretical part focuses on music fairy tale. The importance of a fairy tale for a child from the methodological point of view is described. Furthermore, musical fairy tales by Janez Bitenc and his collections of poems are listed.
In the empirical part of the thesis the musical fairy tale Luna gre na pot is presented incorporating poems by Janez Bitenc, the lyrics of which relate to the musical fairy tale.
Furthermore, findings of the research, in which the frequency of incorporating poems and musical fairy tales by Janez Bitenc was analysed, are presented. The research was carried out using a survey questionnaire for preschool educators and shows that preschool educators besides traditional songs and poems by the above mentioned author also incorporate poems by more recent authors
Ethics and dialogue with Marxism according to Janez Janžekovič
To so vprašanjaFor several decades after the Second World War, Professor Janez Janžekovič was the main figure of Christian philosophy in Slovenia. In those times, which were extremely difficult for the relations between Marxists and Christians, he tried to open the path of dialogue. For that, he chose the field of ethics presupposing that Marxism is also an ethic and that Christianity is essentially an ethic, too. He wanted to show that between the two ethics there could exist a fundamental consonance, which would also open the possibility of cooperation between Marxists and Christians. He spoke about this in his articles published in the 1950ies. However, this raises the question of whether his interpretation of both Marxism and Christianity was adequate. These issues are taken up in this article and the author tries to clarify the positions of Professor Janžekovič in more detai

Dictionary of the Slovenian Language in the Works of Janez Svetokriški
The Dictionary of the Slovenian Language in the Works of Janez Svetokriški (Slovar jezika Janeza Svetokriškega) presents and explains the lexis, including proper nouns, from 233 sermons published by Janez Svetokriški in five volumes under the common title Sacrum promptuarium between 1691 and 1707. The dictionary contains 8,540 dictionary entries, which display and treat the entire Slovenian lexis, including proper nouns, used in the above-mentioned work. Each dictionary entry consists of 1. the headword, 2. the presentation of morphological characteristics, 3. the description of meaning and 4. examples of use. Entries containing loanwords additionally include etymologies. Some entries may here provide other philological or linguistic comments. Each entry describing a proper noun ends with the most basic encyclopaedic information. The Dictionary of the Slovenian Language in the Works of Janez Svetokriški is the first dictionary to treat the lexis of a Slovenian author from a period before the introduction of Gaj's Latin alphabet. The dictionary is distinguished by a modern, but not too complex display of material, by comprehensive citations of all attested variants and by the inclusion of encyclopaedic information about proper nouns, all of which in many respects facilitates the reading of the original baroque text or makes it possible in the first place.

Johann Siegmund Valentin Popowitsch (Janez Žiga Valentin Popovič), Vocabula Austriaca et Stiriaca 1-2 (Frankfurt am Main 2004)
The Austrian dictionary composed by the Slovenian scho-lar Janez Žiga Valentin Popovič (1705-1774) in the third quarter of the 18th century was only published in 2004, and edited by Richard Reutner, who wrote an extensive introduction to it. The dictionary comprises many language-geographical data for the German language, excellent explanations and many comparisons with much information provided regarding Popovic's mother tongue. The author broad horizon is admirable, especially with regard to the German language area and the linguistic literature of that time.
