    Study on control of bird flu outbreak within a poultry farm

    In a production process of a poultry farm, the entire population of birds is kept constant at the manageable capacity. After intrusion of influenza virus, infected birds remain as a source of infection regardless of being alive or dead, unless they are completely removed. A mathematical model based on these factors is analysed to study time evolution of populations of susceptible birds and infected birds, and concentration of bird flu virus. Numerical results show that the population of domestic birds can be made secure against infection by proper vaccination and proper removal of infected birds. References Johann Breytenbach.     Production planning of fish processed product under uncertainty

    Marine fisheries play an important role in the economic development of Indonesia. Besides being the most affordable source of animal protein in the diet of most people in the country, this industrial sector could provide employment to thousands who live at coastal area. We consider the management of small scale traditional business at North Sumatera Province which processes fish into several local seafood products. The inherent uncertainty of data (for example, demand and fish availability), together with the sequential evolution of data over time leads the production planning problem to be a linear mixed-integer stochastic program. We use a scenario generation based approach for solving the model. The result shows the amount of each fish processed product and the number of workforce needed in each horizon planning.     “The Pondering Repose of If”: Herman Melville’s Literary Exegesis

    This study examines how Herman Melville’s oeuvre interacts with Old Testament (OT) wisdom literature (the Books of Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes). Using recent historical findings on the rise of religious skepticism and the erosion of Biblical authority in both Europe and the United States, I read Melville as an author steeped in the theological controversies of the eighteenth-century. Specifically, I am interested in teasing out the surprising disavowals of overt religious skepticism in Melville’s writing. By tracing the so-called Solomonic wisdom tradition throughout Melville’s oeuvre, I argue that Melville had developed an epistemology of contemplation towards that body of Biblical texts. Scholarship has traditionally painted Melville as a subversive if not downright skeptical religious thinker. Most studies have produced authorial readings, using texts as forensic evidence to make assertions about the author’s psychology. Incidentally, such assessments have confirmed the narrative of Herman Melville as a grand failed author of the nineteenth century, while ignoring the ambivalent attitudes toward Biblical authority, textual history, and skepticism that emerge in Melville’s writing. The present study intervenes by re-addressing several procedural questions about Melville’s literary dealings with the Bible: How does Melville deal with the distinct topics of religion, theology, religious skepticism, and doubt? How does he think through the relationship between science and religion as well as that of personal religion and theology? I claim that Melville’s work can be read as a continuous contemplation of Biblical wisdom. His writing, I argue, deals productively rather than a destructive with the Bible, its textual history, and authority. Melville’s thinking on theological and religious subjects was not merely subversive but constructive. In mounting this argument, I contradict current scholarship that reads Melville as trying to invent a new American Bible.     Salah satu tujuan algoritma k-nearest neighbor adalah sebagai klasifikasi. Sesuai dengan salah satu kegunaannya sebagai klasifikasi dalam pengenalan pola algoritma k-nearest neighbor merupakan suatu metode pengelompokan objek yang didasari oleh contoh data training yang terdekat. Algoritma k-nearest neighbor ini merupakan teknik klasifikasi yang paling mendasar dan juga sangat sederhana. Dalam pencarian solusi tersebut digunakan beberapa atribut untuk diklasifikasikan. Namun dalam kinerjanya ada kemungkinan yang terjadi yaitu atribut yang tidak memiliki nilai kecocokan dalam data mining, jika atribut itu di masukkan ke dalam proses klasifikasi dapat menimbulkan kebingungan pada proses data mining. Oleh karenanya perlu dilakukan seleksi atribut agar dapat di lakukan pengidentifikasian atribut dengan nilai yang tidak cocok atau relevan dan dapat menghilangkan atribut tersebut, sehingga penulis menggunakan metode information gain sebagai identifikasi dan juga melakukan seleksi atribut.K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm as classification . In accordance with one of its uses as a classification in the introduction of the k-nearest neighbor algorithm pattern is a method of grouping objects based on examples of the closest training data. This k-nearest neighbor algorithm is the most basic classification technique and is also very simple. In the search for these solutions, several attributes are used to be classified. But in its performance there is a possibility that happens is an attribute that does not have a match value in data mining, if the attribute is entered into the classification process can cause confusion in the data mining process.     In this study the author used an algorithm Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) to generate automatically fuzzy membership functions, in order to obtain a more precise membership functions according to the data provided. Backpropagation neural network algorithm is one of the algorithm supervised learning, this learning need supervision in the learning process. One of the important factor in BPNN learning is the number of input variables. To get the better result we have to used more input variables. In this study, only one initial input variables have to be used, according to the dataset used, so as to get the better result added two new initial input variables, namely x ABSTRACT 2 and x3. Variable x2 be obtained by using the algorithm additional. It’s called Kohonen algorithm (SOM). The variable x3 be obtained by using the formula (x2 - index (i)). Moreover than, the Kohonen algorithm is also used to get the output value will be used as input process to the algorithm BPNN training. From the results of research by the author, the BPNN algorithm have to automatically generate membership functions at the beginning of one variable, using the Kohonen algorithm to obtain additional initial input variables. Keywords : Fuzzy, Membership Function, BPNN, Kohonen (SOM).Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan algoritma Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) untuk membangkitkan fungsi keanggotaan fuzzy secara otomatis, agar didapatkan fungsi keanggotaan yang lebih tepat sesuai dengan data yang diberikan. Algoritma backpropagation neural network merupakan salah satu algoritma pembelajaran supervised learning, yaitu pembelajaran yang membutuhkan pengawasan dalam proses pembelajarannya. Salah satu faktor penting dalam pembelajaran BPNN adalah jumlah variabel input. Semakin banyak variabel input yang digunakan, maka akan semakin bagus target yang didapatkan. Dalam penelitian ini, variabel input awal yang digunakan hanya satu variabel, sesuai dengan dataset yang digunakan, sehingga untuk mendapatkan hasil target yang lebih baik ditambahkan dua variabel input awal yang baru, yaitu x2 dan x3. Variabel x2 didapatkan dengan menggunakan algoritma tambahan yaitu algoritma kohonen (SOM), sedangkan variabel x3 didapatkan dengan menggunakan rumus x2 – indeks (i). Selain itu algoritma kohonen juga digunakan untuk mendapatkan nilai output yang akan dijadikan sebagai input proses pelatihan pada algoritma BPNN. Dari hasil penelitian yang penulis lakukan, algoritma BPNN dapat membangkitkan fungsi keanggotaan secara otomatis pada satu variabel awal, dengan menggunakan algoritma kohonen untuk mendapatkan variabel input awal tambahan.
