Tra natura e storia. Sui nuovi indirizzi della Schelling-Forschung
The aim of this essay is to examine recent contributions to Schelling research that appeared in
three miscellanies in 2020. Their common thread is Schelling’s philosophy of nature, which,
because of its dynamic and processual characteristics, is considered relevant in the debate on
realism, philosophy of biology and environmental ethics. In the historical-philosophical field,
many contributions highlight Schelling’s debt to Kant and Spinoza and his close relationship
with the Romantic movement. Lastly, the essay analyses contributions concerning the Spätphilosophie,
showing how Schelling’s philosophy is to be considered first and foremost as
historical philosophy
L'abbandono dell'estasi. Per una rilettura della Spätphilosophie schellinghiana a partire dal suo "testamento filosofico"
The paper aims to reconstruct the final configuration of Schelling’s philosophical system from the second half of the 1840s. Particular attention is given to the Darstellung der reinrationalen Philosophie, which, according to Schelling’s intentions, was to replace the so-called Berliner Einleitung. By analyzing the different use of the notion of critique and the concept of positive philosophy in the two texts under examination, the paper shows how Schelling’s philosophy undergoes significant changes in the very last years of his life
La conoscenza estatica nelle Conferenze di Erlangen di F.W.J. Schelling
The aim of this essay is to analyze the concept of ecstasy in F. W. J. Schelling's Erlangen Lectures. In particular, I intend to show how it constitutes a significant evolution with regard to the model of reminiscence and in particular that of Mitwissenschaft, as presented in the Weltalter. The essay focuses on three aspects of the notion of ecstasy: 1) its relation to temporality, 2) its relation to interiority, and 3) its noetic value and its moral dimension. In conclusion, I will show how in Erlangen a movement of progressive de-historicization and de-theosophicization of ecstasy began, culminating in the Berliner Einleitung of 1842/43

Schelling's late philosophy of religio
RAGIONE E STORIA.
This thesis aims to present Schelling’s late philosophy as a philosophy of religion. After a careful reconstruction of the final configuration of Schelling’s system and of the complex interplay between negative philosophy and positive philosophy (Chapter I), a diachronic analysis of Schelling’s thought on mythology and revelation is undertaken, focusing especially on the Spätphilosophie (1827-1854). Particular attention is given to the notion of theonomy of the original consciousness, the heterodox reinterpretation of original sin, and the concept of revelation with its historical and epistemological implications. In this analysis, the pivotal role of the relationship between the historical-eventful element and the metaphysical-rational element, which remain mutually irreducible, emerges insistently (Chapters II-V). The last two chapters revolve around the theoretical question of the relationship between reason and history. They are devoted to Schelling’s late philosophy of history, interpreted through the fundamental concept of ‘epoch’ (Chapter VI) and to the notion of ‘philosophical religion’, the authentic keystone of the entire Spätphilosophie (Chapter VII). Based on these insights, an innovative understanding of secularization and today’s religious landscape is developed
Understanding cardiopulmonary interactions through esophageal pressure monitoring
Esophageal pressure is the closest estimate of pleural pressure. Changes in esophageal pressure reflect changes in intrathoracic pressure and affect transpulmonary pressure, both of which have multiple effects on right and left ventricular performance. During passive breathing, increasing esophageal pressure is associated with lower venous return and higher right ventricular afterload and lower left ventricular afterload and oxygen consumption. In spontaneously breathing patients, negative pleural pressure swings increase venous return, while right heart afterload increases as in passive conditions; for the left ventricle, end-diastolic pressure is increased potentially favoring lung edema. Esophageal pressure monitoring represents a simple bedside method to estimate changes in pleural pressure and can advance our understanding of the cardiovascular performance of critically ill patients undergoing passive or assisted ventilation and guide physiologically personalized treatments
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Dragan Jakovljević, Erkenntnisgestalten und Handlungsanweisungen. Abhandlungen zur Erkenntnislehre und praktischen Philosophie, hrsg. von H.R. Sepp, Verlag Traugott Bautz, Nordhausen 2016 («Libri Nigri», Bd. 57). Un volume di pp. 201
Renouncing authentic thought and arguing on the basis of abstract categories and sterile juxtapositions of concepts is a risk to which every thinker is subject. The philosophical debate itself often takes place within conceptual paradigms which, although universally accepted, sometimes do not correspond to the actual situation they are supposed to describe and need further examination. Dragan Jakovljević's book, which takes the form of a collection of seven different essays, most of which have already been published previously, constantly strives to unmask the false myths on which philosophical discussion in various spheres has been guiltily fossilized in recent years. The author - a professor of ethics and theory of knowledge at the University of Podgorica - offers a sharp and balanced reflection on some of the hottest topics in various disciplines, in an analysis that ranges from epistemology to ethics, from social sciences to philosophy of religion. Thus, the epistemological issues of the validity of knowledge and the method of scientific research are addressed, as well as problems that emerge from the public debate, such as the correct conception of tolerance in a pluralistic society or the role that religion can and must play in this context. The argumentation is mostly based on a comparison with the tradition of critical rationalism, in particular the thinking of K.R. Popper and H. Albert. Albert, with whom the author completed his doctoral studies at the University of Mannheim
