    Visions of Juliana: A Portuguese Woman at the Court of the Mughals

    This article discusses Juliana Dias da Costa (d. 1734), an influential Portuguese woman at the court of the Mughal king Bahadur Shah I (d. 1712). Through an analysis of sources that traverse three centuries and several languages, this article demonstrates how visions of Juliana were shaped by the political aspirations of those writing about her. To Jesuits, Juliana was a proxy for their mission in India, and to the Portuguese, she was one of their own, strategically placed at court to serve their interests. And for her impoverished descendants in British India, she was emblematic of times when they held both power and prestige. Concluding with the author\u27s encounter with a descendant of Juliana\u27s in Pakistan, this article addresses questions of belonging that a figure such as Juliana raises today

    Memória e imagem nas obras de Juliana Crispe

    This article presents the process of creation of visual artist Juliana Crispe (Florianópolis, 1982). The propositions of Juliana point out directions to be thought with main basis in the concept of me-mory, and in how the memories of its life make possible the creative subsidy of its artistic objects. The text presents a biographical character, of the relationship lived between author and artist, and sometimes insinuates a personal and affective tone. The way of writing adopted is purposeful, since it presents one of the triggers for Juliana’s work: it becomes a constitutive part of the artistic process. The thread of the article is the story of Irenaeus Funes, a character created by Borges, a figure suitable for weaving the analogies and convergences of two memory fables. Some postulates by authors such as Henri Bergson, Jacques Derrida and Didi-Huberman, make it possible to broaden the concepts approached and enter the world of the artist’s resignification, giving a reflection on how the works emerge and begin to transmit, in a poetic way, all their heterogeneity and anachronism.O presente artigo apresenta o processo de criação da artista visual Juliana Crispe (Florianópolis, 1982). As proposições de Juliana apontam direções a serem pensadas com principal base no conceito de memória, e em como as lembranças de sua vida possibilitam o subsidio criador de seus objetos artísticos. O texto apresenta um caráter biográfico, da relação vivida entre autora e artista, e por vezes insinua um tom pessoalizado e afetivo. A maneira de escrita adotada é proposital, pois apresenta um dos fatores disparadores para entrada da obra de Juliana: torna-se parte constitutiva do processo artístico. O fio condutor do artigo é a história de Ireneo Funes, personagem criado por Borges, figura adequada para tecer as analogias e convergências de duas fabulações de memória. Algumas postulações de autores como Henri Bergson, Jacques Derrida e Didi-Huberman, possibilitam ampliar os conceitos abordados e entrar no mundo de ressignificação da artista, oportunizando uma reflexão sobre como as obras surgem e passam a transmitir, de forma poética, toda sua heterogeneidade e anacronismo.

    Rebranding Innopeda® in global market : case: innovation pedagogy approach

    Innopeda® is a registered trademark of Innovation Pedagogy approach developed at Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) and positioned as the university´s strategy. Innovation pedagogy approach was designed and developed to answer the needs of globalization, profession and world changes. The Innovation Pedagogy framework developed by Taru Konst and Liisa Kairisto-Mertanen from Turku University of Applied sciences highlights the student´s own obligation regarding learning and enhances innovation competence by combining diverse approaches such as active learning, multidisciplinary approaches, work-life orientation, internationality with entrepreneurial skills. The approach developed at TUAS has been applied and executed in different partners, education institutions and organizations such as nestle and Wartsila. The thesis examines brand benefits on the export of education activities and the importance of a solid brand strategy based on customer´s perception. The elevated competition in the global market of Finnish education export services and products obliges TUAS to look for new ways to differentiate Innovation Pedagogy strategy from their competitors. Branding itself and brand modernization can be a good solution to use Innovation pedagogy brand Innopeda® as a perceived quality advantage in the global market. Including the aspects of brand building on the revitalization process, can enhance communication, engage customers and attract new customers. The research is a qualitative case study; other primary data was the result of the author´s participant observation as well as via action research.     The present work aimed to analyze the work "The cousin Basílio", from Eça de Queirós, in order to sketch the relationship between the maid Juliana and the mistress Luísa, demonstrating how the rise of the first one in the plot came to act as mistress And treating the other as a maid based on a millimeterly planned blackmail. The work itself was used as a main contribution, which narrates a case of betrayal and blackmail, in which the author manages to keep the reader involved with the events in each chapter because they are atypical things for the time when the plot is going on. Although the book has been published for many years, it is possible to relate to the current day that relationships have been so trivialized and many people have used blackmail, like Juliana, to achieve their goals. This study was based on bibliographical research, based on books, journals, specific articles, among others.O presente trabalho tem a finalidade analisar a obra <O primo Basílio=, de Eça de Queirós, a fim de esboçar a relação entre a criada Juliana e a patroa Luísa, demonstrando de que forma aconteceu a ascensão da empregada dentro da trama chegando a atuar como patroa e tratando a outra como empregada a partir de uma chantagem milimetricamente planejada. Utilizou-se como aporte principal a própria obra, que narra um caso de traição e chantagem, na qual o autor consegue manter o leitor envolvido com os acontecimentos a cada capítulo por se tratar de coisas atípicas para a época em que o enredo se passa. Apesar da obra ter sido publicada há muitos anos, a partir da leitura da mesma é possível relacionar com os dias atuais em que as relações têm sido tão banalizadas e muitas pessoas têm-se valido de chantagens, assim como Juliana, para conseguirem alcançar seus objetivos.     ABSTRACT: The following essay seeks to investigate about the study of the altarpiece of Santa Juliana of Santillana del Mar (Cantabria). It will also try to get more information about the identity of its unknown author. All this will lead us indirectly to the altarpiece of Santa Maria del Conceyu Of Llanes (Asturias), and to the artistic historiography that has related the Cantabrian and The Asturian one. This relationship is established through the possibility that the same author performed both works. In the same way, this dissertation aims to deepen the historical-artistic analysis of the altarpiece of Santillana del Mar, studying aspects such as the workshops from where the work could proceed. The objective will be to analyze the Spanish painting of Burgos workshops and how he exported his style to other places, as well as the boom of Burgos painting at the beginning of the 16th century. The analysis and development of hypotheses about the possible promoter of the altarpiece of Santa Juliana will lead us to study the patronage of the house of Mendoza.     Influência do lazer sério na felicidade, na satisfação com a vida, na simplicidade voluntária e no consumo experiencial de seus praticantes

    O lazer sério consiste no lazer que é realizado de forma sistemática e que é tão significativo e interessante para o praticante, que ele embarca em carreira de lazer, querendo praticá-lo em longo prazo. Como resultado, o lazer sério traz benefícios sociais e psicológicos que podem ser colhidos ao longo de sua prática, impactando as emoções dos praticantes. Sabe-se, ainda, que as emoções podem conduzir o comportamento das pessoas, tornando-se importantes para a decisão de compra. Diante do exposto, o lazer sério pode ser um antecedente das emoções e, por conseguinte, pode influenciar a forma de consumo. Nesse sentido, felicidade e satisfação com a vida de praticantes de lazer sério podem influenciar a maneira como estes consomem e o tipo de consumo que realizam (material versus experiencial). Portanto, com o propósito de investigar fatores de comportamento de consumo e emoções, esta tese objetiva propor e testar um modelo teórico que represente a relação entre o lazer sério, a felicidade, a satisfação com a vida, a simplicidade voluntária e o consumo experiencial de praticantes desse tipo de lazer. Para tal, procedeu-se a uma pesquisa quantitativa, de caráter descritivo, a partir da realização de uma survey com 395 corredores e 420 ciclistas. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatística de Modelagem de Equações Estruturais, testes de médias e teste de moderação. Os principais resultados evidenciam que, para a amostra total, o lazer sério influencia positivamente a felicidade e a simplicidade voluntária e que a felicidade influencia positivamente a simplicidade voluntária e o consumo experiencial. Contudo, no caso da amostra de ciclistas, não foi comprovada a relação entre lazer sério e simplicidade voluntária e, no caso da amostra de corredores, não foi comprovada a relação entre felicidade e simplicidade voluntária. Entre os efeitos de moderação encontrados, destaca-se o efeito das horas de atividade praticadas para a amostra de ciclistas na relação entre lazer sério e simplicidade voluntária. Além disso, as principais implicações deste estudo indicam que ações podem ser desenvolvidas para que a população pratique diferentes formas de lazer e para que algum lazer possa ser sério e traga benefícios individuais e sociais, principalmente em decorrência das interações sociais, o que resultaria em uma população mais feliz, mais saudável, menos doente e mais pró-social. Dessa forma, a redução do consumo seria realizada por meio do controle interno do indivíduo, o que a torna, possivelmente, mais eficaz, pois, além de consciente, é uma decisão voluntária e harmoniosa com a vida que a pessoa se propõe a viver. [resumo fornecido pelo autor]Serious leisure is undertaken systematically and is so meaningful and exciting to practitioners that they embark on a leisure career, wanting to practice it long-term. As a result, serious leisure brings social and psychological benefits that may be reaped throughout its practice, impacting practitioners' emotions. Emotions can lead people's behavior, showing to be important for the purchase decision. Given the above, serious leisure may be an antecedent of emotions and, consequently, influence consumption. Furthermore, happiness and life satisfaction among serious leisure practitioners may influence how they consume and the type of consumption they perform (material versus experiential). Therefore, with the purpose of investigating consumption behavior and emotional factors, this thesis aims to propose and test a theoretical model representing the relationship between serious leisure, happiness, life satisfaction, voluntary simplicity, and experiential consumption of serious leisure practitioners. To this end, quantitative descriptive research was carried out based on a survey with 395 runners and 420 cyclists. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling statistics, average tests, and moderation test. The main results highlight that serious leisure positively influences happiness and voluntary simplicity, and that happiness positively influences voluntary simplicity and experiential consumption for the total sample. However, for the cyclist sample, the relationship between serious leisure and voluntary simplicity was not confirmed, and for the runner sample, the relationship between happiness and voluntary simplicity was not confirmed. Among the moderation effects identified, the effect of hours of activity practiced for the cyclist sample on the relationship between serious leisure and voluntary simplicity stands out. The main implications of this study indicate that actions could be developed so that the population practices different forms of leisure. Moreover, some leisure could be serious and bring individual and social benefits, mainly due to social interactions, resulting in a happier, healthier, less sick and more pro-social population. In this way, the reduction in consumption would be accomplished through the individual's internal control, which possibly makes it more effective, because, besides being conscious, it is a voluntary decision that is in harmony with the life that the person proposes to live. It is a detailed account of author Martha Juliana Cubillos Caceres’s artistic process in creating and performing the role of the 2nd Witch in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s production of Macbeth in the spring of 2019.
