Se\uf1alizacion de la Adrenomedulina en la eminencia media de la rata
La adrenomedulina (AM) es un p\ue9ptido de 52 amino\ue1cidos, ampliamente distribuido en el SNC, que ejerce diferentes acciones farmacol\uf3gicas a trav\ue9s de la estimulaci\uf3n de tres subtipos de receptores, el AM1, el AM2 y el tipo 1 del receptor relacionado con el gen de la calcitonina (CGRP1). La presen-cia de la AM y de vasopresina en las neuronas de los n\ufacleos supra\uf3pticos y paraventriculares hipotal\ue1micos, que se pro-yectan a la eminencia media, en conjunci\uf3n con la presencia y co-localizaci\uf3n de la actividad de la sintasa de \uf3xido n\uedtrico (SON) y fibras inmunorreactivas para GMPc en esta estructu-ra sugiere la participaci\uf3n de la v\ueda de se\uf1alizaci\uf3n NO/cGMP en las acciones de la AM en el SNC. Por ello, investigamos la presencia de la actividad NOS y la consecuente estimulaci\uf3n de la producci\uf3n de GMPc inducida por la AM en la EM, as\ued como el subtipo de receptor involucrado. Nuestros resultados demuestran que en la EM de la rata, la AM estimula en forma dependiente de la dosis, la producci\uf3n de GMPc y la actividad SON. Aun m\ue1s, la estimulaci\uf3n de la producci\uf3n de GMPc inducida por la AM, fue bloqueada por el L-NAME, un inhibi-dor de la SON. Estos efectos de la AM son mediados por el receptor AM1, ya que el antagonista selectivo, el AM22-52, inhibe la activaci\uf3n de la SON y la producci\uf3n de GMPc in-ducida por la AM, mientras que el antagonista selectivo del receptor de CGRP1, el CGRP8-37, fue inefectivo. Nuestros hallazgos demuestran la presencia de receptores espec\uedficos y funcionales para la AM1 en la EM de la rata, los cuales es-t\ue1n acoplados a la v\ueda de se\uf1alizaci\uf3n NO/GMPc. Esto apoya el concepto que la AM podr\ueda jugar un papel regulador en la funci\uf3n neuroendocrina y reproductiva
Las endotelinas estimulan la actividad de la sintetasa del óxido nítrico en estructuras del sistema nervioso
Encuentra que el efecto de las endotelinas (ETs) sobre la actividad de la sintetasa del óxido nítrico (SON) es mayor en la eminencia media (EM) que en la médula de la glándula suprarrenal (MGS). Todas las isoformas de ETs (1-3) estimulan la generación de GMPc. Ésta es inhibida por: N-nitro-Larginina metil éster (L-NAME), y también lo es en tejidos incubados con azul de metileno o con 1H-(1,2,4)oxadiazol (4,3ª)-quinoxalin-1-ona (ODQ), como resultado de la inhibición de la guanililciclasa soluble. La producción de GMPc es dependiente del calcio extracelular y la neomicina bloquea completamente su producción. Caracteriza el subtipo de receptor de endotelinas acoplado a la vía de señalización del ON/GMPc en la EM y en MGS de rata.CDC
Microalbunimuria como indicador de disfunción endotelial en pacientes con síndrome metabólico
La microalbuminuria (MA) es un factor de riesgo independiente de daño renal y cardiovascular. Evaluamos la asociación de la MA con factores de inflamación y de disfunción endotelial en pacientes con síndrome metabólico (SM) de reciente diagnóstico. La prevalencia de MA fue de 7,1% o 35,7% considerando criterio una excreción urinaria de albúmina >30 ug/mg o >10ug/mg respectivamente. No hubo correlación entre los niveles plasmáticos de nitritos y nitratos o de malonildialdehído con la MA bajo ninguno de los criterios, sin embargo se obtuvo correlación entre la proteína C reactiva ultrasensible y la presencia de MA >10ug/mg (p=0,005), indicando que el proceso inflamatorio se presenta precozmente en pacientes con SM, y que la disminución en el punto de corte para diagnosticar la MA puede ser de utilidad para identificar riesgo de complicaciones.CDC
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
