MATLAB scripts for "Nonsmooth Modal Analysis via Boundary Element Method for one dimensional bar systems"

    No full text
This project is an implementation of BEM/HBM, a numerical method performing nonsmooth modal analysis for 1D systems. Details of this numerical method can be found in paper "Modal Analysis with Boundary Element method for one dimensional bar subjects to unilateral and bilateral contact" by Tianzheng Lu and Mathias Legrand. The method is implemented in MATLAB, by Tianzheng Lu. This implementation includes three versions, corresponding to three different pairs of boundary conditions: Dirichlet-Signorini, Robin-Signorini, and two Dirichlet-Signorini. To run the code, run "main.m" in each folder. If you have any problems, questions or suggestions, please contact us by [email protected]

Physically and geometrically non-linear vibrations of thin rectangular plates

    No full text
Static deflection as well as free and forced large-amplitude vibrations of thin rectangular rubber plates under uniformly distributed pressure are investigated. Both physical, through a neo-Hookean constitutive law to describe the non-linear elastic deformation of the material, and geometrical non-linearities are accounted for. The deflections of a thin initially flat plate are described by the von Kármán non-linear plate theory. A method for building a local model, which approximates the plate behavior around a deformed configuration, is proposed. This local model takes the form of a system of ordinary differential equations with quadratic and cubic non-linearities. The corresponding results are compared to the exact solution and are found to be accurate. Two models reflecting both physical and geometrical non-linearities and geometrical non-linearities only are compared. It is found that the sensitivity of the deflection to the physically induced non-linearities at moderate strains is significant. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

OpenAIRE Webinar, 29th March, 2022 This OpenAIRE public webinar aimed to present the Episciences platform and associated services as well the use case of JTCAM overlay journal. It was also an opportunity to present the Action Plan for Diamond Open Access. Episciences is a complete platform for editing and publishing scientific overlay journals covering all disciplines. An overlay journal is a scientific journal, with a unique editorial line and publication project, which relies on a diamond Open Access evaluation and publication platform. An Episciences overlay journal has a complete publishing system on its own site which allows it to manage both the editorial workflow and the publication of articles. Know more about Episciences here.

This article presents an historiographical evaluation of the most important studies concerning "la violencia" in Colombia during the past 15 years. The author analyzes the scholarship on the violence, first, through general studies of Colombia socio-economic conditions and political parties during the 1940s. Nest, LeGrand discusses the most important regional studies which analyze the relationship between local, regional and national power. Shee debates the various theses of the violence and classifies these studies according to the pre-existing perspectives concerning the phenomenon of the violence. Additionally, the article introduces new questions and topics which the author deems important for future research. The article concludes with an "appendix" written by Herbert Braun resulting in a lively debate between the author of The asassination of Gaitán (Mataron a Gaitán) and LeGrand.

    No full text
The following paper investigates the concept of motion in Jacques Legrand, a hitherto little-studied author of the early fifteenth century. Legrand, an important member of the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine, wrote a philosophical Compendium for the students of his Order. This contribution first attempts to provide a contextualization of Legrand’s treatment of motion within this work. Legrand’s contribution to philosophical encyclopedism is here discussed. Secondly, it reviews the most important theories on the nature of movement in the Middle Ages. Thirdly, it offers a detailed analysis of Legrand’s arguments in support of the nominalist view that it is unnecessary (if not wrong) to consider the local motion as a fluxus added to the moveable body. The article suggests that Legrand’s generalized nominalist position may be connected with certain lines to be followed within his own Order or even with the anti-realist ideology of the conciliarists philosopher, like Pierre D’Ailly and Jean Gerson.
