Composition-Structure Correlations of Bioactive Glasses Explored by Multinuclear Solid-state NMR Spectroscopy
This PhD thesis presents a study of structure-composition correlations of bioactive glasses (BGs) by employing solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Silicate-based Na2O−CaO−SiO2−P2O5 BGs are utilized clinically and are extensively investigated for bone regeneration purposes. Once implanted in the human body, they facilitate bone regeneration by partially dissolving in the body fluids, followed by the formation of a biomimetic surface-layer of calcium hydroxy-carbonate apatite (HCA). Eventually, the implanted BG totally integrates with the bone. The bioactivity of melt-prepared BGs depends on their composition and structure, primarily on the phosphorus content and the average silicate-network connectivity (NC). We explored these composition-structure relationships for a set of BGs for which the NC and phosphorus contents were varied independently. The short-range structural features of the glasses were explored using 29Si and 31P magic-angle-spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy. 31P MAS NMR revealed that the orthophosphate content is directly proportional to the total P content of the glass, with a linear correlation observed between the orthophosphate content and the silicate network connectivity. The bearings of the results for future BG design are discussed. By using multiple-quantum coherence-based 31P NMR experiments, the spatial distribution of orthophosphate groups was probed in the melt prepared BGs, as well as in two mesoporous bioactive glasses prepared by an evaporation-induced self-assembly technique. The results evidence randomly distributed orthophosphate groups in the melt-prepared BGs, whereas the pore-walls of the mesoporous bioactive glasses constitute nanometer-sized clusters of calcium phosphate. The distribution of Na+ ions among the phosphate/silicate groups were studied by heteronuclear dipolar-based 23Na−31P NMR experiments, verifying that sodium is dispersed nearly randomly in the glasses. The phosphorus and proton environments in biomimetically grown HCA were investigated by using 1H and 31P MAS NMR experiments. Our studies revealed that the biomimetic HCA shared many local structural features with synthetic and well-ordered hydroxy-apatite.At the time of the doctoral defense, the following paper was unpublished and had a status as follows: Paper 4: Accepted.</p

LEGAL CONSEQUENCES ON THE DEED OF MINUTES OF THE FOUNDATION FOUNDER MEETING MADE BY A NOTARY WHICH DOES NOT ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOUNDATION'S BUDGET
(Case Study of Medan High Court Decision Number 247/Pdt/2020/PT MDN)

ABSTRACT
Deed of Minutes of Meeting is a deed made by a Notary in the form of an official deed (also called a deed of relaas) meaning that the Notary is present at the meeting to record, write down the writings in the deed of what was seen, heard, and decided by the parties present at the meeting. Then, in terms of accountability, because the Notary is present at the meeting, the Notary can be held accountable for the correctness of the contents of the meeting he attended. Notaries must carry out their positions in accordance with applicable regulations. However, in practice there are still Notaries who violate this, such as the case that befell Notaries in the Medan High Court Decision Number 247/Pdt/2020/PT MDN. Due to negligence, one of the parties feels harmed. The author raises 2 (two) problem formulations, namely How the judge's consideration in making the Minutes of the Trustees Meeting made by a Notary is not in accordance with the Foundation's Articles of Association and the second is about How the legal consequences of the Deed of Minutes of the Trustees Meeting made by a Notary are not in accordance with Foundation Articles of Association. This study uses the Normative Juridical Method by using secondary data and 3 (three) primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. The results of this study indicate that the judge's consideration regarding the making of the Minutes of the Supervisory Meeting is null and void. The cancellation of this deed occurred because it had violated the objective conditions of the agreement, namely a lawful cause, namely the provisions in Article 10 paragraph (1), Article 10 paragraph (3) and Article 11 paragraph (1) letter d of the Articles of Association of the UISU Foundation. The legal consequences of the Deed of Minutes of the Supervisory Meeting made by a Notary are considered non-existent and must be returned in their original condition. Due to his carelessness, the Notary can be held responsible for civil and administrative matters. Notaries may be subject to sanctions in the form of a written warning by MPW based on Article 16 paragraph (11) of the Law on Notary Positions. However, because the Plaintiff is suing the local court in a civil manner, civil sanctions can be applied because of the element of unlawful acts.

Adaptive Sliding Mode Contouring Control Design Based on Reference Adjustment and Uncertainty Compensation for Feed Drive Systems
Industrial feed drive systems, particularly, ball-screw and lead-screw feed drives are among the dominating motion components in production and manufacturing industries. They operate around the clock at high speeds for coping with the rising production demands. Adversely, high-speed motions cause mechanical vibrations, high-energy consumption, and insufficient accuracy. Although there are many control strategies in the literature, such as sliding mode and model predictive controls, further research is necessary for precision enhancement and energy saving. This study focused on design of an adaptive sliding mode contouring control based on reference adjustment and uncertainty compensation for feed drive systems. A combined reference adjustment and uncertainty compensator for precision motion of industrial feed drive systems were designed. For feasibility of the approach, simulation using matlab was conducted, and results are compared with those of an adaptive nonlinear sliding model contouring controller. The addition of uncertainty compensator showed a substantial improvement in performance by reducing the average contour error by 85.71% and the maximum contouring error by 78.64% under low speed compared to the adaptive sliding mode contouring controller with reference adjustment. Under high speed, the addition of uncertainty compensator reduced the average and absolute maximum contour errors by 4.48% and 10.13%, respectively. The experimental verification will be done in future.

Disciplining the Spectator: Subjectivity, the Body and Contemporary Spectatorship
In this thesis the author argues that although questions of the spectator’s corporeal engagement with film are much neglected by film theory, the body is nevertheless a central term within contemporary cinema, in its mode of address, as a locus of anxiety in media effects debate, and as site of disciplinary practices. And while the thesis begins by demonstrating both the socially and historically constructed nature of spectatorship, and the specific practices that work to create contemporary cinema’s corporeal address, the latter half of the dissertation devotes itself to revealing the regulatory implications of this physical address. That is, the author shows that cinema’s perceived capacity of affect the body of the spectator is a profound source of cultural anxiety. But more importantly, through an analysis of the films Funny Games, Irréversible, Wolf Creek, and the genre of ‘torture porn’ more generally, what is revealed in these final chapters is that the regulation of cinema in the contemporary era is less a question of the institutionalised censorship of texts, and more a question of regulating the ‘self’. In this respect, the author demonstrates the specific disciplinary practices that attempt to present the problem of violent, and sexually violent, imagery not as a textual issue per se, but a question of the formation of appropriate spectatorial relations. Moreover, this study begins the process of teasing out the ways in which the contemporary spectator is induced to see the problem of media violence as one that can be resolved through what

Desain Prototype Mobile Classes Dengan Menggunakan Model Lean UX
Classes is a website-based information system application that contains such as student academic information that can be accessed by student anytime and anywhere. With Classes, it is hoped this website can help students find out academic information about each student such as student profile, attendance, teacher profile, list of grades, materials orteaching materials for each subject. Classes has a weakness, that it is still in the form of a website and not yet based on a mobile device or application, so using Classes is still less effective and efficient for users who expect a mobile version of Classes along with the development of technology. By looking at this problem, the author provides a solution by applying the Lean UX method in designing prototype for Classes mobile devices which can then be developed further so as to help users who expect a mobile display. In creating a prototype for the Classes mobile device, the author used supporting editing software, namely Figma, so that the user interface of this mobile device can present information in a friendly, interesting and informative way for Classes users according to aech user’s needs. And with this research, the author hopes that Classes can become the main access medium for all information related to student’s and teacher’s academics, and the appearance of the Classes mobile device will become more attractive in terms of appropriate User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) with user needsClasses merupakan aplikasi sistem informasi berbasis web yang berisikan informasi akademik peserta didik dan bisa diakses kapan saja.
Renny Thomas, Science and Religion in India. Beyond Disenchantment
Science and Religion in India: Beyond Disenchantment contextualises the complex interplays between science and religion in the context of India. The work powerfully challenges the historiography of studying religion and science by deconstructing the heretofore prevalent frameworks solely based on conflict or complementarity. The author argues that these frameworks originated against the historical narrative of European modernity and are inadequate to explore other societies as they collapse ..
Refined Structures of OPhospholserine and Its Calcium Salt by New Multinuclear Solid-State NMR Crystallography Methods
O-phospho-l-serine (Pser) and its Ca
salt, Ca[O-phospho-l-serine]·H2O (CaPser), play important roles for bone mineralization and
were recently also proposed to account for the markedly improved bone-adhesive
properties of Pser-doped calcium phosphate-based cements for biomedical
implants. However, the hitherto few proposed structural models of
Pser and CaPser were obtained by X-ray diffraction, thereby leaving
the proton positions poorly defined. Herein, we refine the Pser and
CaPser structures by density functional theory (DFT) calculations
and contrast them with direct interatomic-distance constraints from
two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) correlation
experimentation at fast magic-angle spinning (MAS), encompassing double-quantum–single-quantum
(2Q–1Q) 1H NMR along with heteronuclear 13C{1H} and 31P{1H} correlation NMR
experiments. The Pser and CaPser structures before and after refinements
by DFT were validated against sets of NMR-derived effective 1H–1H, 1H–31P, and 1H–13C distances, which confirmed the improved
accuracy of the refined structures. Each distance set was derived
from one sole 2D NMR experiment applied to a powder without isotopic
enrichment. The distances were extracted without invoking numerical
spin-dynamics simulations or approximate phenomenological models.
We highlight the advantages and limitations of the new distance-extraction
procedure. Isotropic 1H, 13C, and 31P chemical shifts obtained by DFT calculations using the gauge including
projector augmented wave (GIPAW) method agreed very well with the
experimental results. We discuss the isotropic and anisotropic 13C and 31P chemical-shift parameters in relation
to the previous literature, where most data on CaPser are reported
herein for the first time
