Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Recent Highlights from the LHCb Experiment
The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) detector is a single-arm forward spectrometer at the LHC, designed for the study of heavy flavour physics. In this proceedings, an overview of the detector performance and a few recent results in the field of beauty and charm physics are presented. The LHCb experiment has also undergone a major upgrade in preparation for Run 3 and Run 4 of LHC, the proceedings will briefly highlight the current activities undertaken during this period. This proceedings is based on the plenary talk presented at the XXV DAE-BRNS High Energy Physics Symposium held from 12–16 December 2022 at IISER Mohali, India. The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) detector is a single-arm forward spectrometer at the LHC, designed for the study of heavy flavour physics. Search for CP violation in charmless three-body decays of strange-beauty baryons
Studies of charmless three-body decays of the Ξb ̅ and ꭥb baryons to ph-h’- final states, where h(‘) denotes a kaon or pion, are presented. The first part of the analysis is based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies √s = 7 & 8TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. In this analysis, the decay Ξb ̅→ pK-K- is observed with a significance of 8:7 standard deviations, and evidence at the level of 3:4 standard deviations is found for the Ξb ̅→pK-π- decay. The results are reported, relative to the B-→K+K-K- normalisation channel, for the products of branching fractions and b-hadron production fractions. The branching fractions of Ξb ̅→pK-π- and Ξb ̅→pK-K- relative to of Ξb ̅→pK-K- decays are also measured. In the second part of the analysis, an amplitude analysis of Ξb ̅→pK-K- decays is presented. This analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 fb-1, 2 fb-1, 0:3 fb-1 and 1:7 fb-1 collected by LHCb during 2011 (√s = 7TeV), 2012 (√s = 8TeV), 2015 (√s = 13TeV) and 2016 (√s = 13TeV) respectively. Sensitivity to the CP violation parameters in Ξb ̅→ pK-K- decays is also presented. An updated search for the previously unobserved charmless decay ꭥb ̅→ pK- K- is also conducted
Search for violation in charmless three-body decays of strange-beauty baryons
Studies of charmless three-body decays of the and baryons to final states, where denotes a kaon or pion, are presented. The first part of the analysis is based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the \mbox{LHCb} experiment at centre-of-mass energies & , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3~ {\mbox{fb}^{-1}}. In this analysis, the decay is observed with a significance of standard deviations, and evidence at the level of standard deviations is found for the decay. The results are reported, relative to the normalisation channel, for the products of branching fractions and -hadron production fractions. The branching fractions of and relative to decays are also measured. In the second part of the analysis, an amplitude analysis of decays is presented. This analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 ~{\mbox{fb}^{-1}}, 2~ {\mbox{fb}^{-1}}, 0.3~ {\mbox{fb}^{-1}} and 1.7~ {\mbox {fb}^{-1}} collected by \mbox{LHCb} during 2011 , 2012 (), 2015 () and 2016 () respectively. Sensitivity to the violation parameters in decays is also presented. An updated search for the previously unobserved charmless decay is also conducted
Lepton flavour universality tests in decays at the LHCb experiment
Semileptonic charged current decays offer a
compelling avenue to probe the limits of the Standard Model and investigate
lepton flavor universality (LFU). While the SM maintains flavor universality,
new physics models can introduce interactions that violate this universality,
particularly for decays involving third-generation quarks and leptons. An
enticing observable to test LFU is the ratio of branching fractions of and decays.
Recently, the LHCb experiment measured this ratio using decays. We discuss these results in this
proceedings of the 57th Rencontres de Moriond on Electroweak Interactions and
Unified Theories.Comment: contribution to the 2023 Electroweak session of the 57th Rencontres
