MINIREVIEW Chemical Synthesis of Re-type Lipopolysaccharide
Abstract We have developed an efficient synthetic pathway for lipid A and its glycosylation method with Kdo. In combination with several additional new ideas such as the use of an oxidation-resistant benzyl-type protecting group and the application of liquid-liquid partition column chromatography, the synthesis of Re-type lipopolysaccharide has been achieved for the first time. ABSORPTION LINES IN THE KrCl LASER SPECTRUM AND THE SPONTANEOUS EMISSION OF KrCl

London 73, 538 (1958).Author Institution: Department of Physics, Tokyo Gakugei UniversityThe KrCl laser spectrum recorded on the third order of a 6.65m concave grating spectrograph shows more than thirty absorption lines in the region 2216 - 2224A. The laser was made by ourselves with particular caution against impurity contamination. As was expected from our previous , many absorption lines were assigned to rotational lines of the several Schumann-Runge bands appeared as absorption. Some stronger lines were assigned to rotational lines of the O-14 and O-13 bands of HCl V-X system based on the wavenumbers observed by Jaques and . Spontaneous emission spectra obtained with quartz prism spectrographs show eleven peaks of the B-X system, two continua probably arising from the C-X and B-A transitions in the region 2220-2085A, around 1987A and 2320-2490A, respectively. A continuum observed around 2570A was identified as the V-A system of HCl, since it appeared even when the discharging gas consists of He and HCl only. For the laser or spontaneous emission of KrCl the gas consists of HCl/Kr/He = 0.4/20/79.6, where impurities of HCl, Kr and He are stated to be 99.9, 99.995 and 99.9999%, respectively. The maximum total pressure investigated was 1600 Torr. At this pressure the laser power about 10 mJ/pulse was obtained when the carrier gas He(79.6%) was replaced by a mixture, He(39.6%) and Ne(40%), though this replacement made no change in the laser spectrum. Estudo do desempenho de aços inoxidáveis modificados para aplicação em meios corrosivos do processamento primário do petróleo
Diante do aumento na demanda por combustíveis fósseis e a descoberta de novos campos de exploração e produção de petróleo cada vez mais remotos e com condições de operação de maior agressividade torna-se evidente a necessidade de desenvolvimento de materiais capazes de resistir a estes novos ambientes. Este trabalho engloba a revisão bibliográfica de três famílias de aços inoxidáveis modificados desenvolvidas nas últimas décadas, os supermartensíticos, os superferríticos e os superausteníticos. A avaliação dos materiais foi realizada quanto à resistência aos mecanismos de deterioração esperados no processamento primário de petróleo com teores elevados de CO2 e presença de H2S, considerando variáveis de processamento comumente utilizadas. Com os resultados encontrados na literatura a luz dos mecanismos de deterioração e considerando as características de processamento, fez-se uma seleção de materiais via matriz de decisão qualitativa para os equipamentos de uma planta de processo de modo a obter a melhor relação de compromisso considerando resistência a corrosão, custo e resistência mecânica.The increasing demand for fossil fuels and the discovery of new oil fields in remote locations with aggressive operation conditions enlighten the need for development of materials able to resist to this new environments. This work includes a review of three families of modified stainless steels developed in recent decades, the supermartensitic, the superferritic and superaustenitic. The materials were evaluated through the criteria of resistance to the damage mechanisms expected in the primary processing of oil with high levels of CO2 and the presence of H2S, considering variables of the processing plant. With the literature results in the light of the damage mechanisms and considering the characteristics of processing, it was developed a material selection using a qualitative decision matrix for the equipments of a process plant to obtain the best compromise considering resistance to corrosion, cost and strength
